Would give 0 star if I could, bunch of sanctimonious religious nuts who have archaic views. I would not give them a penny go to a more humane local charity that accepts everyone

Lined up and waited and when it was my turn, cashier named Maria said she cant ring me up but goes to the other register and rings up the rest of the clients lined up. I waited alone on the other side and asked her, is it because Im Asian? She just says I was instructed to not ring you up. So rude and i felt very discriminated. Fontana Salvation Thrift Store.

Sometimes interesting vintage items can be found and with a dedicated team of hardworking volunteers but managed now by a bad tempered "Christian" woman who uses her "faith" to legitimise her own prejudices and bigotry.

Lived in Catherine Booth House in Portsmouth, full of mice, bugs and abusive crackhead mums and dad's, kids filthy and barely looked after, staff are unprofessional and don't help tenants to move on, they look past where people actually need help, it's lies after lies after lies, we was told 6 month move on, it was 2 years, they don't help with move on and very unstable, flats are crumbling and left not being fixed up for several months on end, staff talk about how CB is a sinking ship and many staff left because of it, staff with ignore obvious signs of abuse and avoid helping their tenants, drug abuse and child abuse is a thing there and best believe the children are looked past by them, pregnant mums smoking weed, dad's who are predators, mums who drug deal with their kids in their prams and have random people in and our their flats getting drunk and high playing loud music on weekdays too, ridiculous amount of loopholes there, infested is the only word to truly sum up a Catherine Booth Experience!

Better being homeless than living there, better pray you get one of the smaller homes st Paul's or St Monica's, especially as Catherine booth is there biggest with "more support"

Paid for a sofa bed in advance at the shop at Wessington Way, for delivery on Friday 13th October 2023.
When it arrived in the van (with two blokes), they said “we don’t do stairs!”
One short flight of stairs to the 1st floor in a block of flats and I offered to help!! They insisted for health and safety reasons, they wouldn’t do it and they would have to take it back to the shop. Unbelievable and frankly utter rubbish service, especially when nobody told me this in the shop when I bought it.
Never heard the likes of it, honestly - so bear this in mind if paying for goods to be delivered and you don’t live in a bungalow!!!
Demanding my refund tomorrow when I call in.
Had to give a one-star rating to leave a review, otherwise it would have been -5 for me…….
Awful service and needs looking at.

The Salvation Army are the very best at everything . I have learnt so much from their compassion and understanding . We can all learn from the Salvation Army. I volunteer for the several drop ins and homelessness .Without exception every homeless person I speak too says the Salvation Army are the kindest and the best.5 stars are not enough

Absolutely resent being told my sofa was grubby on the arms when it could have been sold over and over again but decided to give to a good cause, it was in excellent condition you need to give these obnoxious young lads customer training. It just felt he was doing me a favour and not me trying to help you raise money for charity. Used other charities before that were very appreciative. Sorry SA never again.

Had a very good experience here at the Saint Helens branch. Lovely staff!

Awful rude manager!Rude to customers and volunteers.Prices items to high and won't change them even when you show you can buy brand new cheaper! Shop is only doing well because the other girl there is always working hard while manager is always on days off on phone or computer! People above her should talk to volunteers about how she talks to them! Rude rude rude!!

I would like to thank personally and on behalf of neuroendocrine cancer & Macmillan Cancer a lovely lady who works as a manager in the ellesmerport salvation army shop, Nicola Base, who kindly sponsored me £30 (out of her own pocket)for a 24hr darts to raise money for these 2 cancers, everyone knows of the Macmillan Cancer but the neuroendocrine cancer is not really heard about, untill we found out my son had got it.Thank you NATALIE BASE for your kindness, a credit to salvation army 🙏

They are EVIL TOOK £25 TO FIND MY SON then told me he didnt want me to contact him i just would of like to know he was ok if i had eny grandchildren i am 80 year oldso l will go to my grave not knowing last time i saw him he was upset he miss his bus had to be at collage in exeter he was in Newton abbot so i drove him there i love him and would of love to see him befor i die BUT BECAUSE of these Religious Hypocrite i wil never know robert deacon

Misleading website information on how they offer services to individuals within our community with special needs and disabilities.
They advertise a service that DOES NOT EXIST.
Also, they false advertise opening times of their coffee shop and charity shop.
The charity shop doesn't even open on a Saturday.
The Sally Army boast they serve their communities? Give the building and shop up and let someone run it who can provide community services to benefit our people. A waste of time.

Whitehaven shop, while purchasing items at the till , a ‘lady’ accused my wife and 10 year old daughter of shop lifting and asked to look in their bags. When proven innocent the member of staff offered no explanation or apology. In fact she was very rude to them. Why is it that these people who want to appear outwardly Christian cannot grasp the fundamentals of being Christian . I am disgusted.

The 020 Head Office number is an automated service; but the very first option is... drum roll... option 1... ''If you would like to make a financial donation'. No surprise there huh. If they were truly honest, it would go something like this..."Press 1 to give our Captains money for petrol for the car we give them, and throw in a couple more extra quid for a new bathroom bog in the house that we also give to them to live in''.
I am in the process of putting together a nice little media story about this cult - and I say 'cult' because it's kind of like the 80's Adam Ant hit, ''Goody Two Shoes" - Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Hmm; but Mary as we all know gave birth to Jesus without any slap and tickle involved, so I am amazed that any of this army actually have kids!

The Salivation (Saliva) Army's only mission is to raise money, money, money, and a large proportion of that money indeed goes to purchase houses for their staff.
Mark my words, they are money grabbing hypocrites and yes I can prove it. Don't bother wasting your time with these lot. Oh and please note - they can't even reply to emails - but you can bet your bottom dollar they would if the email involved a nice little donation.
As for the cost of living crisis - well you needn't worry if you wear one of their uniforms and you've got a degree in Noah's Architecture because once you've grovelled up the ranks - you're getting some tasty little freebies in the form of a car and a house.
This cult has opened my eyes and certainly is not what I thought it was. Absolutely disgusting. Donate your money to better causes. There's plenty more deserving ones.

Really expensive for a charity shop! I brought a well used leather cowboy hat for £25 when I got home I found them on Amazon brand new for £20! With free delivery.. lesson learned, I won’t go back there again.

Salvation shop in Burbage: clothes far too expensive for a charity shop. One staff in particular gets very funny when you return an item of clothing what can you do when thete are no changing rooms. This makes me feel very uncomfortable & guilty. I won't be going there again.

Fake charity,I’m victim of modern slavery and they said we support the people who got modern slavery,probably 3 years I’m under Salvation Army support and when I called them for help always refused me.

Cheltenham,kingsditch branch very rude people, i always thought the salvation army people were very caring and religious when now i have a different opinion of them now. Just because ive not washed for 6 months or changed my cloths for 6 months because of the price situation on every thing, it dont give the staff of your shop to look upon me as a rouge and a theif and watch every move i make and every step i make. i always believed charity shops were for people with not a lot of money and who are struggling to live right now and not the money people. your prices are distgusting £200 for some seats to sit on, £75 for a gaming chair. people have given you those items for free and i bet those people dont expect those prices put on there items. your actually running these charity shops as a buisness now and even the staff members are getting payed, there not just volunteers any more. honestly after seeing your prices its a wonder any one ventures into your shop. i would honestly like to know where all that money is really going to. i know have a different thought of charity shops and that is charity starts at home. you need to watch the dressed up smart people because there the ones who usually do the stealing and there all dressed up so you dont suspect them of being a theif.do you know how i know this, because i use to be in the security buisness.

I will tell my experience with you on 30/03/2023 at Salvation Army at Peterborough store, Long Causeway. Someone who presented to me as the “Manager” a long bearded man: you are the rude bully and aggressive person I have ever meet in my all charity work. I saw that twice in you. When I politely asked a gentleman on the counter if I can make an sensible offer for an object, as I though was too expensive, he politely said; I will ask my maneger. There you came, and I realised I meet you before at the shop. All you have to said: we can’t do it, sorry. Instead you talk rude over me as if you want to give me a lesson. Like someone in power, obviously, I walk way. You followed me in the shop talking over me, trying to hold my hand and saying you listen to me, pushing me out physically and said do not come back here anymore. I don’t need to hear someone being rude to me! I contacted your Head office of the Salvation Army and did not hear anything as yet. I wonder, how a charity “Christian church” allowed someone to behave like that towards costumers who support them, such a person deals with vulnerable people!
I would not trust you! As you show signs of a sadist person., clearly showing in your posts, pretending to be “ funny” degrading other people, IT IS NOT FUNNY ! You “may” do a lot for the busines but not enough to the a Charity, which should be all about, kindness, politeness and social responsibility!
Therefore, as if the Salvation Army turn a blind eye to your actions then this is showing contempt of your actions, not something someone would expect from a charity organisations.
I will never go there anymore! Or suport you!
