The Salvation Army in Ossett
The Salvation Army in Ossett: I would highly recommend this wonderful venue. I like the size of the venue, the cleanliness, and the welcoming atmosphere. Recently renovated, it features a neat kitchen with a serving hatch that opens to a lovely space - the hall which is perfect for class parties. I have held several parties there and find the staff to be very friendly, flexible, and accommodating - I could go on and on. For instance, some parents recently organized a dance for Year 6 students, and the manager (also a first aider), brought his daughter and they helped with the set-up, and DJing. It really made the night - the children loved it and we (parents/carers) were so grateful. Such a service is rare and goes above and beyond what anyone would expect.

Salvation Army didnât help me when IâŠ
Salvation Army didnât help me when I was at my lowest, I was in one of their hostels, suffered bullying, I was supposed to have a support worker, who help come meetings with me, as I suffer with bipolar adhd anxiety disorder copd, feels like more labels than tescos, but basically Iâm not mentally well, Iâm under womens aid, as Iâve had domestic abuse, physical and mental even from a child.. Salvation charge £350 a week for a room, thatâs got mice everywhere, even sitting on loo, Iâve had them run between my legs to get to pipes. I had to go to my pip assessment with a girl who had her own problems, because no worker from Salvation came with me after knowing for weeks I had that appointment, how the hell I got there I canât tell you, I even had to walk because I canât go on london transport as I have panic attacks.. I eventually took an overdose, which Iâm not proud of as my mother put me through it all my life.. after a month of hospital admission for a month I was sent to the filthiest hotel you can imagine, in ilford, shared toilets and showers that ad excrement all over floors walls, and knowing how scared I am of men, they just I think might as well have given me a gun to shoot meself, I was moved over that next year, from one filthy hotel to another, twice I died from my breathing because the dampness and concrete dust was comming through the window, ambulance crew was shocked with the conditions of the hotel, telling me take as many pictures as I can.. then I had a great bit of news, I was being offered a place in Chelmsford near my family, low and behold, I was told I was in arrears with my service charge, I knew I wasnât because in black and white, £26 was being taken out of my benefit, I find out, Salvation Army had been taking £26 a week without me even living there for over a year, I got it back eventually, but I lost my chance, there is so much more, I would literally be here all day writing, this one of my better days, because I have had a safe place to sleep last night.. all my life Iâve tried to help everyone, even putting them first, it genuinely makes me feel better and I always will, especially animals.. Iâve had businesses Iâve worked, Iâm not an 100% angel, who is? But omg how much can any level headed person take let alone anyone who suffers with mental health issues.. all I ask for is somewhere safe clean and genuine people to help me, and take responsibility when they have f****d up, and not pass the buck between eachother because they know they have made major mistakes, with vulnerable disabled people, because they know itâs hard for us to express our vulnerabilities.. Iâm getting help with this email today, but tomorrow, who knows where my head will be, or where Iâll be. Iâve just remembered and come back to add more as I forget so much, I forgot to add that my arm was broken by a resident at the hostel Iâve just been kicked out of because I didnât sign in for a coupe of days, my depression was so bad, it was broken by a male resident, I couldnât call police, as I had the whole hostel turn on me because he had got to them an fed them a load of lies, I was in extreme pain an petrified on my own with no support, this is another hostel, in tower hamlets, the pret donates food every night, the residents get left with all the food the staff donât want, itâs all disgraceful.. Iâve gotta stop now, because Iâll keep remembering stuff and adding more to this. Thankyou c

I lived as tenant in one of theirâŠ
I lived as tenant in one of their properties in Wallington, Surrey! At the end of the tenancy - they refused to refund my deposit - on pretext of leaving the property dirty and also blamed me of stealing the window blinds (which were never provided). Once I gave them the evidence of the inventory photos. They still took £600 off from my deposit. Whereas the cost of cleaning should not have exceeded £300. Very bad experience of charity organisation indeed!

Not the charity you expect
Check their state of art building in the heart of London, why a charity needs it? Their overseas customer who buy in bulks have affiliation with gangs to clean the money. it is about time someone starts looking into their affairs

I grew up in The Salvation army
I grew up in The Salvation army, when I became homeless they abused me, JUST INTERESTED IN MY BENEFITS CHEQUES and staff took me behind the scenes to grop me.
The Only good thing was the few friends I made, my wedding and they were supportive when I lost my mum. All churches brainwash kids, I'm doing a Psychology course and this is what I've woken up to at long last.

Iâd give them a zero if I could. I canât believe theyâve got people lined up in the heat waiting to get a COVID shot and a fifty dollar Visa card. What about people with disabilities? This is shameful.

0 Stars, May the L0RD Punish these F00LS.
If I could give em' 0 stars I would. I wanted to get rid of a Vehicle but they never even spoke back to me. Take your business elsewhere, these "Christians" are anything but what they profess to be. They are thieves, and they are Sinning Against God, may they have punishment from the L0RD.
I can not express how lovely the staffâŠ
I can not express how lovely the staff at our Bryn Ashton in makerfield store are especially Tina the manager. They canât do enough to help you and always make you feel special when you visit their store. My mother has dementia and they always have a laugh and joke with her and fuss her which means the world to me. They work so hard and the store is always immaculate.
Shocking prices often dearer than newâŠ
Shocking prices often dearer than new and staff attitude. Theyâve got a guy at Berwick Salvation Army who values the stuff they get for free. Anything really valuable where does it go? Reportedly to an auctioneer in Alnwick Iâm told.
They get given three factory units that are filled basically with sh 1 t. Disgusting. We only use the Hospice charity shop in Berwick and the charity shop in Eyemouth by the pool.

I years I have ignored the bad reportsâŠ
I years I have ignored the bad reports and about the actions of this charity, but some of the reports that have come out recently about how this charity treats the very people that they are supposed to look after with the donations we make, that I have now decided that this charity will never again see a penny of donation from me and I will also stop giving donations of clothing etc to their shops.

Disgusting greedy charityâŠ
They target the disabled and elderly people, they have made many families homeless, a disgusting greedy charity.
Talk about lazy and ungrateful
I just dropped off some items at the Lake Forest, CA location. Iâm 68 years old. I had to carry the items up a stairway while a couple of young dudes stood there watching like a couple of lazy jerks. Iâll throw my stuff in the dumpster before I go back there.

The most pathetic non caring place you could ever find, reluctantly I had to deal with them again after organizing with tas health for an emergency food order while in lockdown with covid, they said it would be delivered next day and obviously just didn't bother sending it.if you are in trouble never never go to the people

Salvation Army Coedpoeth

Absolutely not kind caring officersâŠ. Turned their backs completely on my parents. I hope someone else doesnât suffer the way we have.
Overstretched & infective
There are many good staff however they are overworked and underpaid. Whilst it may appear admirable that the Salvation Army prefer to do as much good work as possible with their money, the end result is they are stretched so thinly service users are not able to avail of any Salvation due to lack of resources. So if one ends up in a hostel, stagnation is the most likely outcome, followed by deterioration. It's a matter of quantity over quantity.
Perhaps, were there a UK government that valued human lives it would alleviate a lot of the strain but no such thing has existed since pre 2010, therefore with the Salvation Army's current well meaning but flawed mission to help as many people in need as they can, fewer people will actually achieve anything close to Salvation. Five stars for wanting to help, but one star for the end product. Staff need to have their workload reduced to avoid burnout and so they have the energy to aid positive change in people lives.
Sorry for the one star, their hearts are in the right place, however their heads are not.
Imagine how much good they could have done with a fraction of the 36 billion stolen from the public purse for fictional Test & trace. Sadly whilst the Sally Army attempt to do God's work, the UK government are batting for the other fellow.
Happened to go into the Gateshead storeâŠ
Happened to go into the Gateshead store in Jackson Street, Iâm a respectable man and the person who was posing to be the manageress accused me of stealing a CD stating she had witnessed it. After a heated argument, I made her accompany me two stores up where I originally purchased the CD. I have never been so humiliated in all my life by this experience, and I vow never to donate or give any money to this organisation ever again. She offered an apology but I would never accept it, as the damage had already been done over a 25p CD purchased elsewhere. The question is she on the payroll or a volunteer I have searched extensively for a Telphone or Email for the area manager alas I cannot find one to report her.

Poor Customer Service
My wife just dropped off some new items for the salvation army store in Hinckley (Burbage). Customer service was very poor. My wife was informing the staff member they were new items, when the staff member interrupted her, " you can put them there" and walked away. We won't be giving to this store any time soon.
