Extremely unhelpful customer service, not interested in resolving a problem with delivery. Plenty other options online would not reccomend.

They are awful at returns. They still owe me money for the wrong boot they sent but as per other reviews surplusandoutdoors think they can keep treating their customers badly. Even their terms and conditions on their website show they are happy to break English selling laws.

I am more disappointed because I have been loyal to them and spent a considerable amount of money with them in the past. No more.

Very bad experience! Ordered 4 the same outfit and came in completely different shades. Have been told apparently is normal 🙈not recommending at all and not going to use this service anymore

I have ordered many times form the is shop and I can definitely say the service and ease of purchasing and having it delivered it's brilliant
Also the items I've ordered have been amazing quality considering the items are surplus and menat to be used, they come almost brand new

This company will take your money and not give a refund if you return the item. Avoid them completely. They are not to be trusted. I gave them 1 star as I couldn't write this review without it.

When I called their phone number the person taking the call was polite and helpful.
I received what I ordered as described and in a timely manner.

I have just bought two Highlander Outdoor long-sleeved thermal tops from Surplus and Outdoors. They will make excellent base layers when I'm out cycling on chilly days. They were great value for money and I doubt I'd have got any branded cyclewear, of comparable quality, at the great price of £11.99 plus postage. This is my third purchase from Surplus and Outdoors. All of their products have been just what I needed and they have always got the goods delivered quickly to me. I'm sure I'll be buying from them again!

I couldn't find a genuine
second magazine for my FX Drs anywhere, but then I saw it on The Surplus Store UK ,and it was £22.00 cheaper than the official importers site!
Great price and rapid ( next- day) delivery.

I was sent some replacement patches for a smock which were supposed ro be included with the smock. Incorrect postage was paid by the company so had to pay a fee to get it emailed the company and provided evidence of whst I paid I was advised 5 days ago a refund would be made but no such refund has been received. I feel the customer service with the company has gone right down hill I won't buy from this company again

Only complaint and this isn't anything to do with the store but the item was sent first class and took over a week to get to me via Royal mail whien the store is only an hour away from me.

Don’t use them. I ordered something for my webbing was only £20 never arrived, emailed them they said it would be a few days 12 days later still no item had to go elsewhere to get it.
I emailed them for a refund and have heard nothing since…. SCAMMERS. Have been reported

I had to come on here and give these guys full marks for their customer service.

I ordered a coat from them online but the size I had asked for, that they had thought they had, was missing from their stock. They called me first thing the morning after I had placed my order to explain and apologise. They then refunded me without delay.

A couple of days later, without prompt, they called me again to tell me they had found my size in stock. So I ordered again and within four days my coat arrived.

The coat itself is the Gore-tex Austrian M65 field jacket.
As advertised it came as new.
On putting on the jacket it fits like a glove and it feels very comfortable. It is also incredibly waterproof. An amazing bit of outdoor kit well worth waiting for.

This experience has left me with little doubt that Surplus and Outdoors are honest and keen to put things right to meet their customers needs.

I love this coat and this company and I shall definitely be using them again.

I ordered a Poncho Liner (Woobie). In the description there is a photo of Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind Inc label. Buyer beware, this is NOT what you get!. I paid £34.99 + postage (£41.00 total). The item received is not as described, it is a fake. I typed in the NSN number + the other numbers, it relates to a 1963 issue, this is NOT a genuine item. It Is new label, no manufacturer, just numbers. I have been ripped off, I will not be using Surplus and Outdoors again.

Phoned to hear a generic message saying they will pit you throygh to the correct department or person but never answered.
Web says open 8-4 Saturday. We travelled from Stafford to find it closed at 2:30.

Have used this company for years now all of the products were accurately graded and as described. I had an issue with one order once and the resolution process was swift and efficient. Great company to deal with.

I purchased a 1951 British Army clasp knife 2 days ago, which was listed as very rusty and would need a good clean. It was priced at £7.99 plus £6.99 for delivery so i thought for that price I'd take a gamble. To be honest was expecting much for the price listed and the pictures were pretty grim! However when it arrived 2 days later I was gob smacked at how much better condition it was in! Yes it is rusty but nowhere near as bad as expected, the knife is in unused condition and once cleaned will be as good as the day it was made in 1951!! Would highly recommend these guys, I will be back for sure!

I buy a cap with 1952 year stamp inside shippping was after a week, instead of that cap i received one from 1979, i write an email but the seller not answer, no professionalism and they are very unfair, absolutely to avoid

I bought a German army (Jakob Eschbach) GoreTex jacket which was advertised as being to fit a 42-44” chest. I have a 45” chest so expected it might be slightly on the snug side, but I could make do.
The jacket that arrived was huge, more like a big poncho; it had a pit-to-pit measurement of 26” and huge, baggy arms. The label was marked “52/54” so I thought it must be for a 52-54” chest and contacted Surplus & Outdoors via email.
They responded quickly, saying that the German sizing was different so a 42-44” chest would be marked as “52/54” on the label. I had to take their word for this although it seemed very odd and it also didn’t change the fact that the jacket would be like trying to wear a tent for anyone with a 42-44” chest.
I emailed them again asking how I could arrange to exchange the jacket for one that would actually fit a 42-44” chest, and this is where things started to get very awkward and weird. To cut a long story short, after an 11 day back-and-forth email exchange I still hadn’t managed to get a straight answer out of them re: whether or not they did actually have another jacket that would fit a 42-44” chest that I could swap it for.
At that point I gave up and just sent it back for a refund, but even then the awkwardness continued as they didn’t bother to let me know they’d received it and I later had to chase them up to get the refund. Worst of all, they deliberately only refunded the item cost, not the original postage costs, which by law they have to refund according to the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
When I contacted them about this I was ignored and eventually had to raise a chargeback request with my credit card company. The credit card company refunded the amount due but the fact I had to go down this route is appalling.
They may well be fine to deal with in person if you can go to their shop, but I’d advise against ordering anything online where there’s a significant chance that you have to return the item, as I’ve since read another review from someone else who had a similar experience with their refund.
