I ordered 11 light grey Salerno doors from doors of distinction. They had only been fitted for 6 months when they started to show discolouration. There is no direct sunlight on them only light from windows but every door has went a green colours some worked than others depending on how close they are to the window. I understands doors can discolour but even doors that you would not expect to discolour as the angle hey are to the window are a green tinge and it’s only some of the door not all. I’ve tried to contact who I bought the doors from 4 times abs each time they have just ignored my emails. I tried to contact xl joinery themselves who twice have told me i need to contact the supplier when I told them that’s they are ignoring me I got no response either from xl joinery. I’m now 18 months into having the door and when the doors are shut they look awful. Save yourself £4000 and stay away from the grey doors unless you want them to look a horrible green colour.

Morticed door for lock, cut out hinge recesses. 1 coat of undercoat, 3 coats of Leyland gloss - all undertaken in the garage. Door hung to the rear of my garage, door was OK for two weeks until rain came - the veneer came away from bottom panel. Contacted Doorsuper store who contacted XL - who requested numerous photo's of door! After a week I managed to obtain a full refund. As I did not have the time to purchase a new door immediately - I glued additional plywood to bottom panel. After more rain the door became swollen and became stuck in the door frame. A small gap appeared in top ,bottom & middle rails joining door styles. Also timber bubbled on various parts of the door frame. I have had to plane the closing style every time it rains - already 6 times. Do I need to say any more!

Hi, my joiner ordered 5 solid Oak Shaker Panel doors from XL joinery for me on the 28 th April and the doors are still not in stock. This is a unacceptable delay is this backlog for all doors or just for the solid oak doors.

Terrible quality and after service.

I ordered a new front door from XL joinery, when I unpacked the door there was moisture inside the film, during the painting process the doors veneer began to lift and unfortunately due to old door being removed I had no other option than to hang the door and try and deal with the issue a few days later, XL are totally unhelpful and gleefully informed the retailer I had invalidated my warranty by hanging the door without three coats of top coat. God only knows I should have left the front door off and property unsecured to appease the customer service department at XL.

This is hands down the worst quality door I have ever seen, so poorly put together with no thought about longevity or making the customer happy. Loads of tear out across the product, machined to a very low quality, evidence of woodworm (active or not I would not like to guess) in the bottom rail, veneer delaminated during the painting process.

They know these products are going to fail, this is why they implement a quite frankly outrageous warranty process to try and catch people out and avoid fixing issues which arise with their products.

The first thing I do when anyone comes to my door is show them all the problems with my XL joinery door.

Unfortunately the door was warped in the top corner and bowed across the bottom of the door. Very disappointing as I had read good reviews as to the quality of the doors and based on this made the purchase. The cost of the door is being refunded, however I am out of pocket for the shipping costs and the high quality paint used on the door to ensure that it was totally protected from the elements as it is an exterior door.

We bought 3 unfinished shaker glass doors. Put the recommended sealant on one (so far) and the veneer bubbled where it hadn’t been glued properly during manufacture. It was already hung prior to this and luckily the bubble was at the bottom. We are now attempting a repair. Needless to say not impressed with the quality as a result.

I just wanted to tell someone how impressed my wife and I are with our XL Joinery doors. We purchased
9 x Suffolk Original Pre-Finished Internal Doors and
9 x Rhine Polished Chrome Bathroom Door Handle Packs.
Our joiners when fitting them also commented on how good quality they were, how easy they were to fit, and that they were the best quality doors they had fitted for a long while.
The doors look fantastic and have transformed each room so much, that we are buying another 8 to fit at work.

Please note despite the initial acknowledgment only below , NO one has got back to me after supplying this info they requested . My doors remain the same , faulty since purchased with no communication or promised investigation . I would NEVER recommend XL doors because of this.

We bought a significant number of doors for our rebuilt house . Jewsons supplied them . The veneer is peeling and cracked and has been from when they have been in situ. For anyone thinking about buying oak doors you should know they say you will invalidate your warranty if you do not varnish them on the day you take delivery of them and before you put them up . This is why they say they can do nothing about ours as we have invalidated our warranty by not doing that in that timescale . This is ridiculous.

We were looking for both fire and standard doors. We called requesting for some samples as most of the resellers are closed for display due to covid. Initially did not get much response but Zoe from XLjoinery helped us throughout from sending samples, quotations, sale process and then a follow-up call after three weeks to make sure everything was still ok! This experience itself gave us significant confidence. Regarding the quality of the doors they are really good very heavy and good build. Delivered on time as promised. The delivery driver was very courteous. Overall a very happy customer and no hesitation is recommending XLjoinery.

I bought 4 internal bi-fold doors that are advertised as primed and unfinished.
I painted them with quality Benjamin Moor paint.
The paint just peeled off them!!!! the surface of these doors is virtually paint repellent. I have to do a huge and expensive job of scraping the paint, sanding the surface, priming and painting it again. I’m actually very angry and want to warn anyone who is considering XL joinery doors to stay away from them.

I ordered 8 XL Joinery Pattern 10 pre-finished oak doors for my hall, 6 x obscure glass and 2 x paneled, through a national building services supplier. The doors arrived in two separate orders because one of the sizes was not available at the time of ordering, something I had been made aware of and readily accepted. When the first order arrived I realized I had mistakenly ordered the wrong size for one of the doors. I spoke with the retailers who were extremely helpful and also Shauni at XL Joinery, who liaised with the retailer and between them they arranged for the correct door to be sent with the second part of the order and collect the one ordered in error. This happened the following week. I was very impressed by the quality of service offered by XL Joinery in the circumstances, given it was entirely my own fault and was equally impressed by the doors I received which are exactly what I wanted. The workmanship reflects great value for money and the professional contractor who fitted them for me was also impressed by their quality and finish. I will certainly use XL Joinery again and recommend them to my friends. David G

Ordered 5 Worcester prefinished oak doors from Shawfield Doors, Glasgow on 12th February 2021.
Delivered to us direct from XL Joinery via their carriers, Gee's Haulage of Wakefield today - 18th February 2021.
All doors in excellent condition and due for fitting next week.
Based on my experience, I would thoroughly recommend XL Joinery Doors to anyone.

I ordered a couple of external hardwood doors, via Wickes. Despite being painted properly, very soon after fitting (with Dulux weathershield products), one of the doors stuck in the frame after a couple of months. Worse still it warped. The carpenter managed to free the door and had to plane off the sides to get it to open and shut again. He informed me that there was nothing that could be done about the warp, other than get it replaced. Naturally, I complained to Wickes, who said that they would need to contact the manufacturer (XL Joinery, I believe). I was constantly asked to send and re-send photos of the door and generally messed about for weeks on end. Finally, today, I get a similar answer as has been given to other customers on here that it is my fault, as the door was not painted prior to fitting. Needless to say, I am livid about this and am referring the matter to trading standards. These doors are not cheap and meant to be resistant to warping. It seems utter nonsense to tell me that these were manufactured at a specific moisture content and that finishing had to be done prior to installation. Utter nonsense. In addition, the company has responded here. I think this is just to save face, as I doubt anyone will bother to rectify the situation. UPDATE: The company emailed me on 12th Feb, requesting order details, so they could investigate further. These were provided to them, the same day. 1st March and no further response, as expected. So please pay little attention to their reply, posted here. Clearly, this company never had any intention of investigating the complaint further. I am of course going to take Wickes to the small claims court over the matter. Everyone I have mentioned this issue to thinks it is ridiculous that the supplier expects the door to be treated prior to fitting. Noone I have talked to (and that is a lot of people) would expect to do this, owing to issues with adjustments needed to fit doors to frames and possible damage of paintwork, during fitting. Ludicrous.

I don't want to labour the point, because I'm sure that XL Joinery make lots of good quality, reasonably priced products - BUT - what do you have to do to get an answer from them if you have a query? Take a look at my (one star) review below, submitted on 3/2/21. This lists two simple questions. Now - I had already submitted these queries (some weeks ago) via the Online Enquiry feature of the company website. To date I have had no response whatsoever. I then called both the Technical support, and the Customer Service phone lines without success (see my original review).
I wasn't actually expecting a (useful) reply to my review - after all, the gate has already been hung due to time constraints (it's a long story), but the reply which was forthcoming was utterly useless (take a look), cut and pasted from the XL platitudes playbook. I know these are hard times, what with Covid and everything, but come on XL - get a grip!

ordered a glazed shaker door pre-finished , the fist door delivered was only partially finished , replaced with a second door that was worse than the first , gave them the curtesy of accepting a third delivery only to be disappointed again really poor quality finish quite tatty looking . afer six weeks , numerous emails photo sending gave up and requested a refund , NEVER AGAIN !

Terrible experience with XL Joinery. Avoid at all costs.
I purchased a £400.00 pre-finished Moderna door from them for a client.
Once it was fitted it became apparent that the door was significantly bowed, such that it was proud of the (brand new) frame by 10mm at the top and bottom.

Did they do the honourable thing and refund or offer a replacement? No. They claimed the bow was the result of not varnishing 'behind' the hinge leaf, and 'inside' the lock and letter plate cut-outs.

I'm a professional carpenter with over twenty years experience and quite frankly have never heard such nonsense that not varnishing in these very small and unexposed areas would result in such a defect (immediately). The door has a core with a significant amount of MDF in it which is often inclined to bow. This is especially so on an exterior door when it's cold on the outside and warm on the inside. Therefore I suspect this is much more likely to be the reason.
However by including the instruction to varnish these areas - which few people would really follow - they are able to say this is what caused the problem.
How dishonourable.
We now have to purchase a new door, plus I've lost at least another day's labour fitting it.

We ordered a special door in July was originally given a delivery date of 18th October, was then given beginning of November, then end of November then December, after chasing this every month since October we were then told it would be 2021 but could not give a date, we now have our money back would never recommend this company
