TAKE MY ADVICE. DO NOT, DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY OR LEISURE HOMES @ DAVIES GROUP!
I am truly amazed this company Towergate (broker) and Leisurehomeclaims@davies-group are allowed to trade using the term insurance.
We have been with them for many years and had water ingress through our kitchen extractor fan recently into our lodge. Towergate are the broker for Leisurehomeclaims@davies-group Insurance and both have been incompetent from the beginning. First contact they didn’t know who we were, two emails later we were recognised and then the fun began. Emails galore wanting information, professional report, photos etc. on this point I sent detail and I sent photos of the damage which was not replied to. Only to then receive more emails stating please send photos of the damage etc. A professional report of how the water got in to the extractor fan was sent naming a violent storm with high winds and torrential rain as the reason. But that was not good enough, that’s not a good enough reason at all apparently. It has to be either faulty sealant or a faulty extractor fan. I asked if we were covered for either of those and guess what? No we are not. Faulty sealant is ‘wear and tear’ and a faulty extractor fan is ‘faulty workmanship’. It’s such a scam it is laugh out loud hilarious!
Another claim we had running alongside this one was for kitchen/utility cupboards the paint laminate lifting off the front. Apparently this is down to the glue not being strong enough in manufacturing. The doors were in place when we bought the lodge and it was all new. The guarantee has run out, it was only a year, so we thought ‘at least we are insured’. Yes, you guessed. Faulty workmanship. Not covered.
In fact it appears that whatever you think you maybe covered for they will find a reason and start quoting from the policy document.
When I complained to Towergate and LeisureHomeClaims@davies-group separately to both individual companies, throughout this whole debacle of a process, Towergate just send the complaint to leisurehomeclaims@daviesgroup so do absolutely nothing with it. Leisurehomeclaims@davies-group are sending me a pack from their customer relations to complete and make my complaint. I think I would rather spend my time looking for a different, decent Lodge Insurance company which does what the name implies it should be doing i.e. insuring the property against damage and not sitting thinking of every which way they can to get out of settling any claim.
So do not, do not, go to Towergate and most definitely do not seek insurance with Leisurehomeclaims@daviesgroup
ADDED INFORMATION: on Friday the 12th May I received this email regarding our water ingress claim:
‘We require a Confirmation from your contractor on the exact reason the damages occurred, We understand you say due to the wind and rain water had come through the vent, however what specifically caused this to happen? Please kindly ask your contractor to provide their opinion on why this happened.
Once we have this we can reconsider your claim.’
I contacted the contractor same day 12th May for more information as requested - if it was possible to explain in any other way other than through an intense storm/rain/60mph winds how the water entered.
Whilst waiting for this detail from my contractor to send to Leisurehomeclaims@daviesgroup the insurance company phoned Tuesday 16th May - we have considered both the claims and they are both closed.
‘But you asked for more information?’ I asked. ‘Yes we are aware of this but they are now closed’
I pose the question is that legal/right/acceptable for an insurance company to ask for more information then to just decide to close it?
