After building a bioactive set-up, I looked online for a UK based ant supplier

AntsHQ had a neat looking website with lots of information on each species sold, so I decided on a Messor Barbarus colony as my first venture into the hobby (along with some isopods and springtails to complete the set-up).

There was a slight delay in dispatching the order (of a day), but AntsHQ were quick to respond to emails - even upgrading the delivery service free of charge and including a free gift.

The order was received within 24Hours of dispatch, with the ants, isopods and springtails all arriving well packaged and in good health. The queen came with at least 20 workers and at least 10 brood (though hard to count due to the workers being quite energetic)

It was extremely exciting placing the colony test tube into the set-up and seeing the workers scout their new environment, before eventually coaxing the queen to move.

There was also a near fully formed brood with eyes present and coloration, as well as a newly developed baby ant. It was adorable to see the baby ant be a nuisance for the other ants.

Definitely would recommend, and will be buying further colonies once I complete more bioactive set-ups.

Ordered a messer barbarous queen and she came very well package and was in good condition however she hasn’t produced a new batch of eggs in a month even though I have use my experience to make sure that she is comfortable and happy so I’m starting to think she might be infertile but hopefully she is just taking her time

I have recently jumped back into ant keeping with 5 colonies and a couple of fornicariums and all products were perfectly packaged. Queens, brood and workers were very healthy and well packed.

What a great organisation, I’ve purchased from a few outlets most good and VERY good ANTS HQ fits up there in 5 star. Promt reply’s to emails, nothing is too much trouble for them, I wanted to change my order after paying and it was no problem. Because of weather conditions they held back on sending my ant colony, this demonstrated that they cared about the ants. No doubt at all I’ll be shopping with them. Oh! Nearly forgot, I received a free large bottle of high octain sugar liquid, ant love it. The colony is in robust health and very active

Had a problem where they came dead due to damage when shipping but they have sent another one as a replacement. Great customer service!

UPDATE: Package came with a very well protected weaver ant queen with all her brood along with 10 test tubes and some free ant nectar along with!

I’ve had 2 different species from Ants HQ now and I’m always impressed with how the ants are carefully packaged and the communication is always great, I had a query with my last ants and I received a very quick, friendly response. What can I say ants HQ is awesome! Been buying from them since 2020, ants are always in amazing health and if you have any problems or questions they are glad to help! Just recently brought an atta Texana colony and had it personally delivered so they go above and beyond!
