Disappointing substandard quality prints
I had previously ordered gift photos from Blacks and the quality was amazing. I had recently ordered prints, that came in a larger format, they were blurry and not up to the quality I was expecting based on previous experiences. I had contacted customer service and they said no refund (i didn't ask for one, I asked for help) and that the blurry was normal with that size (even though nothing during the ordering process had indicated they would be blurry, and the photo files are large, from a professional photographer), so now I have $100 worth of large format prints that look like I used a home printer to print from, collecting dust, still don't have the prints I needed and I'm out money. I asked them to delete my account because if that's what they consider to be quality and acceptable (blurry prints) I can get that for less money and other places. It was an incredibly disappointing experience and I won't be going back.
Laminate prints have scratches
I wish I could write something different... I waited until all the reprints arrived before I made this review.
The original five wall art came in February we used a Valentine's Day special offer and ordered all our favourite photos after we edited them. We used a professional Nikon camera and uploaded in high resolution.
The pictures arrived and the biggest two looked the best. Some slight scratches across the surface but otherwise perfect, as our pictures got smaller the quality got worse. One photo was printed upside down. Some had white spots where the ink was missed and one had completely different purple and pink hues in the sunset.
The customer service team was great! They offered us a refund if we destroyed the original or a reprint. We requested the reprint and made specific instructions for each one of why it needed to be redone. The last one arrived this week and other than slight colour corrections as per our request the quality is the same. From a distance they do look good and are striking but if the light catches it at the right angle the scratches become very obvious. My biggest complaint is the subtle scratches. It was the only thing that did not change at all when we got them reprinted- I feel this needs to be brought to the company's attention so they may choose a different laminate to use.
They are packaged in styrofoam and cardboard so I can't see that creating the scratches. My only hypothesis is that the original boards have scratches on them already, then the ink is printed on top of those marks.
I heard great things about Blacks so maybe laminate prints are not their specialty.
My advice. Order them big. Quality is the best and their prices are very reasonable.

We were very pleased with our desk calendars and our wall calendar. The service was prompt and very efficient. Some of the photos we sent to them were not of great quality, but they made an outstanding job of printing them. They were also very helpful with phone calls and questions we asked.
Also, the price was very reasonable.
All in all, Blacks is the place to go!

I ordered a gift from this company as it is in Canada and my recipient is Canadian - I thought the service would be faster than a US company. WRONG! I ordered a photo puzzle and coaster set on December 8. It is the 21st today and still shows as "processing". I emailed the company a few days ago to see why it has not shipped and they simply said "due to high season"!!! Give me a break. I ordered a photo puzzle from Snapfish 3 days later and my recipient already has it (early)! I only ordered from Blacks because it is in Canada! They probably subcontract to China - but alas, I will not be using them again, so I really don't care. Thankfully I only ordered one persons gift from them. Hopefully they get it sometime next year anyway!
I realize itâs Xmas in a pandemic
I realize itâs Xmas in a pandemic, and that delivery times is out of their control but the processing times ( which could have been updated on their website) were 4 days and in reality itâs been 14 and not even processed yet with no ability the customer service to give me an estimate. Since I realized it wouldnât get there by Xmas , I asked to change my shipping to reg vs express since jan 4 or Jan 7 delivery didnât really matter at that point, and the customer service person was rude and just kept telling me he didnât understand what I was asking and couldnât help me. Lame . Wouldnât purchase anything from them again.
Great service, very impressed!
Very impressed at the quality of my products (ordered 4x6 inch prints and custom photo notebooks). Will definitely be ordering from here again. The customer service is exceptional; when I realised I had accidentally put a project in my cart and ordered it, I emailed (after business hours) to cancel, and received an email less than 10 min later to say I was just in time to cancel.
The only letdown was Canada Post (paid for Xpress shipping but didn't arrive very fast from ship date; one of my packages was delayed and then the other was slightly damaged, although the notebooks inside were not too badly damaged).
Superior quality!
I just received my calendar from Blacks.ca and I am soooo impressed! Excellent quality...beautifully printed and fast shipping! Also the price was fantastic as there was a sale happening. I will definitely order more in the future and go to Blacks for all my printing needs. Superior quality!

I noticed there were not a ton of reviews and I figured I should write one. Blacks Canada does an incredible job with their printing and the paper the photos are printed on is excellent quality. Their delivery is also very timely.
Great photo books
Great photo books. I've used others like Shutterfly and Mixbook and this is my favourite.
The major shortcoming is a less than stellar "text box" functionality. Another missing feature is the ability to enhance the quality of the photo.
Otherwise it has good technology with regards to uploads and photo organization.
Dollar for dollar, Blacks.ca is the best value.
