The crew is experienced, friendly, hospitable, and helpful. The 3 hours sea-safari was successful, we saw turtles, dolphins, and whales (pilot whales)

Unfortunately I cannot say anything good about the trip as we never went. The trip to the Desertas got cancelled 2x due to weather conditions, which I understand is not their fault. However, when we actually arrived to depart, first we were standing at the ‘wrong boat’ - nobody had informed us there were 2, so since we booked to go with ‘Bonita da Madeira’, ofcourse we were waiting there. This boat however was scheduled to depart later than the one we were meant to go with, so if ours was not delayed, we would not have made it in time to catch it, since it was on the other side of the dock!

The lady there first told us it was strange the boat was delayed. Together with the other travelers we waited. Then one of the girls told us ‘another 15 minutes’ - without further information. After 30 minutes I went to the kiosk to ask the lady if she had any further information. At that moment the lady was on the phone, speaking with someone, saying:
‘But the clients are already waiting 25 minutes… yes, I understand it is difficult to park with the event.. you have another 5 more minutes.’ (In Portuguese)
She then turned to us and said the boat was delayed due to a battery failure… When I asked her if this was true, since I heard her just say something else on the phone, she quickly said; ‘ah no, I was speaking to an employer for one of our other trips’ - the only ‘other’ trip they have just left 10 minutes before. So the story did not add up.
They told us they were trying to fix the battery, but we did not see anyone on board. Also, what would they do if the battery failed once again whilst at sea or whilst at the Desertas islands? We would stay the night there?

After 1.5 hours they told us the generator (wasn’t it the battery?!) does not work and the trip is cancelled. Please divert to the kiosk to reschedule or get a refund. Meanwhile all guest had been waiting in the burning sun, without being offered any water. One of the guests had to ask for this later and kind of ‘demand’ it.

Whilst customers were rescheduling / getting a refund; the employer they were waiting for arrived. He was then quickly escorted away from the kiosk by another member of staff and they made him understand that some people spoke Portuguese, so instead they told him loudly about the issue with the battery…

During the whole event the staff members were lacking empathy towards the clients. Many of the clients were unable to get a refund on the spot as they had not booked directly, and the ones that did received the amount minus €3.22 admin costs. The problem is not the amount - it is the principle; the customer should not have to pay anything in this case. Nor were we offered compensation. And when I sent them an e-mail regarding all of this, no apology was ever offered, nor was the €3.22, nor was a compensation.

I could reschedule my trip, but I decided not to due to their lack of empathy and customer service skills. I prefer to book somewhere else. I never expected this, but again it proofs that quantity (in tourists) does not guarantee quality clearly…

we spent a good day on board a boat, along the east coast of Madeira, friendly crew. A simple but decent meal. A time to swim in clear water at the right temperature. I recommend.

We booked our whalewatching tour via homepage of the company. After many tries we finally could finish the booking process. The website isn't working very well. After booking we got the information, that we have to get to ticketcounter of the company to get our boarding pass, but it wasn't really clear where this counter is. On top there was no transfer from the hotel as the website said. We wrote to the company, but never got an answer.
As we finally reached the ship the experience started to get better. The crew was very friendly and explained a lot. We startet our tour and only a few minutes later there was the first spotting of bottle-nose dolphins. They throttled the engine to a minimum to protect the animals and we stayed only 10 minutes and then let the animals in peace. Then we started heading along the coastline with some nice views and stopped for a few minutes to bath.

We booked the trip to the deserted islands in advance, for a saturday. When we arrived there on the correct date, they told us that the trip was not on saturday, but on thursday or sunday. They changed the day but didnt let us know. We couldn't go on the trip any other day because of other committments. They offered a different tour, but half a day (not one full day) and a cheaper tour. So I lost a lot of money, didnt get reimboursed and didnt have the trip i had chosen. The trip and the crew were nice, but not what i had paid for. A bit disappointed.

We took the East Coast tour - enjoying a leisurely boat ride to the East End of the Island and back. The website blurb makes it sound like you will visit the towns on route but you actually sail past them. This was fine as we took the time to work on our suntans and enjoy the trip. We came across some dolphins which was a nice bonus. The mid-trip swim was great and snorkels were provided. The standard lunch was simple and tasty but the vegetarian offer was rather bland and uninspired (as it generally is on Madeira) - if you're a vegetarian pack some snacks.

We chose this trip over the catamaran tours/trips as there are fewer passengers on the Bonita Madeira boast so the vibe is more chilled.

All in all well worth the cost and a great way to see the coastline.

Very friendly stuff even though the weather was bad, but we made the best of it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a great personality 😁

Wonderful experience! Staff is amazing! The boat looks stunning. I recommend you to get to the boat in advance, to secure a good place to relax.

Da viagem efetuada às desertas no bonita da Madeira, posso divulgar como ponto fulcral a simpática e prestável tripulação (capitão Miguel, Ricardo, Ana e Sr. Francisco). O passeio de barco ás desertas é uma viagem agradável com possibilidade de ver golfinhos, baleias e lobos marinhos, pelo que, aconselho a todos a visitar com esta companhia ( Bonita da Madeira)

Super, nettes Personal, leckeres Essen, toller Ankerplatz, superschöne Route , und eine total tolle Tour von Anfang bis Ende.

Very comfortable boat - loved loafing on the bean bags in the sun … saw many whales and dolphins, enthusiastic crew helped with questions. Lovely enjoy trip but wasn’t aware of the option to swim, which we missed due to lack of swimwear… maybe make it more obvious ? But a fun afternoon, thank you.

It was good and the crew was very nice.

Amazing food and crew, possibility of swimming and we were lucky to see dolphins and whales.

Looked more like a boattour than a search and find for whales and dolphins. Only saw 7-8 small whales, no dolphins. Looked to me that no effort was done to locate more animals. Left the port with several other catamarans but we took a complete other direction after the viewing of these 7-8 whales. Rather disapointing trip.
