The reason our representative was unable to provide further information without completing security was specifically to protect customers personal information. For example, if we are speaking with an incorrect party, it is unlikely that they will be able to successfully complete our security checks. This is why it is imperative that we ask these questions, as they help ensure that we do not disclose another individual’s personal information to the wrong person.

If the vehicle was not registered at this address, the information may have been obtained through a tracing search. This type of search can provide additional information, such as previous or associated addresses and contact details, to help us establish contact with the correct party.

As I do not have the case reference available, I am unable to confirm which source was used in this instance. We apologise if the information obtained was incorrect or if this caused any unnecessary confusion or concern.

DVLA would have sent prior letters to the address registered on the V5 but if you wish to appeal directly to the client, please be aware that appeals can only be accepted in writing by physical letter.

The reason we limit the amount of detail included in our correspondence is to protect the privacy and security of the intended recipient. On occasion, correspondence may be sent to an incorrect party, so we take care not to include more information than is necessary.

When you contact us by telephone, we are required to complete data protection checks for the same reason outlined above. Once these checks have been successfully completed, we can provide you with the relevant information regarding the matter. If it is established that you are not the intended recipient, we can update our records and remove your contact details where appropriate, as this would indicate that they have been provided in error.

Unfortunately, I do not have your contact number or case reference to confirm that your details have been removed from the account. However, if you have previously spoken with a member of our team and requested that your telephone number be removed, please be assured that this request would have been actioned accordingly.

We would like to clarify that our business operates legitimately and in good faith, and that we act on information and instructions provided to us by our clients. We do not seek to mislead individuals, and we take concerns regarding the way our services are perceived very seriously, we apologise that you feel our service was inadequate.

We do have an automated dialling system so it’s correct that when you answer, you receive an automated message however, you should have been able to speak with an agent. The reason for us requesting information related to a previous address is because it’s essential that we pass data protection for us to speak with you and the current address doesn’t look to be the one we hold.

I can see that this contact has now stopped but please do let us know if there’s anything further you require.

In some cases, letters can be issued where details have been incorrectly linked to an address or individual, and we are always happy to investigate this promptly and correct any errors.
