Avoid this product
Very disappointed. Materials used are barely fit for purpose, the build quality is poor. For the price Iâve paid I feel Iâve been had. The delivery, even after speaking to a customer service team member was as poor as the product itself.

Very helpful in turning our disappointment around.
After our initial disappointment in the Chicken run being far too small, coops and hutches got in touch with me, and were extremely helpful and sent us very quickly an extension for our Chicken run which will indeed be adequate, Thankyou Coops and Hutches

Bad customer service
Ordered on the Friday at 4pm. Was not expecting next day delivery. Saturday morning recieved an email that my order had been dispatched.
Sunday recieved an email from Gizmo saying my order wouldn't be dispatched until Wednesday/Thursday. Questioned this, (had to check Gizmo wasn't a scam as they sent the most unprofessional email I've ever received). Was told this was fine, I asked multiple times about when I'd recieve delivery and about delivery fee.
Response was rude, un informative, and then just stopped replying when I asked why I'd been given two conflicting emails about when to expect delivery.
Recieved item on Tuesday.
Honestly didn't know if I'd actually receive it, would not recommend and will not use again.

The courtyard chicken coop we bought isâŠ
The courtyard chicken coop we bought is excellent. We paid £229 plus a bit extra for fox proof wiring.
The instructions were ok and we muddled through but some clearer images would have been useful, especially when fitting the roof panels. But all the holes lined up and we got there in the end.
The delivery was excellent and it arrived quickly.
Just one thing on the websiteâŠthe courtyard chicken coop, and the XL courtyard chicken coop give exactly the same measurements but the larger is £40 more.
The courtyard chicken coop £229 (May 2025) states itâs for 3 large, 4 small.
The courtyard XL (£269) states itâs suitable for 4 medium, 5 medium.
This is a bit confusing.
But otherwise we are very pleased with our purchase.
(Not sure that the fox proof bit to the wire has been applied though)

Hi Lorna,
Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! Weâre really pleased to hear that youâre happy with your Courtyard Chicken Coop and that delivery went smoothly. Itâs great to know everything came together well , even if the roof panels made you work a little harder than expected!
We appreciate your feedback on the instructions and will definitely look into improving the clarity of the images to make assembly even easier for future customers.
Thanks also for pointing out the confusion around the standard and XL versions of the coop. You're absolutely right , while they are very similar in footprint, the XL includes extra internal height and upgraded features, which accounts for the difference in price and capacity rating. That said, we'll review the listings to make this clearer on the site.
Regarding the fox-proof wire, it should have a heavier gauge mesh than the standard version. If you're unsure whether that was applied, please feel free to contact our customer service team at admin@coopsandhutches.co.uk and weâll be happy to double-check for you.
Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope your hens love their new home!

Very poor quality for a very high price
The hutch arrived on time, however, it is cheap wood, poorly made and exceptionally small. It said it would hold 3 rabbits, but in reality it would hold just one. We have 2 so we are now looking for an alternative.
Very costly for a cheap product. Would not buy again.

Hen house and run
Purchased a new chicken coop with overnight delivery. Very speedy- can't fault the service. One of the parts was damaged, could not make contact via phone so e mailed and got a reply in a couple of hours promising replacement part in 2 days (Sat delivery). Sadly the part arrived later than hoped- though to be fair there was a bank holiday do this will have impacted. When the part arrived though, they'd sent the wrong one and so I had to wait again for a replacement despite asking for a partial refund (which I feel was fair for the inconvenience and poor service) and so that I could have got the coop repaired locally and quicker. Product itself is fair. Not great but ok.
Initially i thought the company was ok - but the response sorting out their 2nd mistake was disappointing after spending a considerable amount eith them - so I am unlikely to be a returning customer. (To add balance though...3rd time lucky, after 2 weeks, the next replacement did fit)

A good quality Hutchwnd prompt service
Quick and prompt service, at the time I managed to get my rabbit hutch at a discounted price. It arrived only a little bit late but I was kept informed that the delivery service was a fault not the coops and Hutch company.
Instructions were easy to follow the rabbit hutch was up and installed within a short time scale.
The construction seems decent and I paid for extras i.e fox proof wiring three millimeter and pressure treated wood etc and to be honest someone who does a lot of DIY this seems a good product it's heavy enough that it requires two people to move and provide the rabbit with lots of space to go up and down as required.
I can actually say my rabbit feels safe outside now I know that foxes cannot get into him or underneath the hutch as I installed foxproof flooring turn on the outside.

Purchased 2 cages
Purchased 2 cages, advertised as large enough for chickens/rabbits, when they arrived it was obvious that the cages were not fit for purpose, I immediately emailed to arrange return of the 2 cages and I was told I would have to pay for return, and for the original postage to me Leaving me £20 short on each cage, it was then suggested that this has happened to other customers and that the company advise selling them myself on a FB page! Consumer rights donât seem to matter to this company and I had the choice to lose money or keep the cages.. at £284 Iâve now lost £40 and the company can go ahead and sale the cages again at full price as they were unused and boxed.
