As someone who is on the path to becoming a CTO, I was constantly searching for the right course to elevate my skills and knowledge. But what truly impressed me was the equal emphasis on the business side. I started the CTO Academy Digital MBA Course in March 23, and since then have had a great experience.

I'm fairly early in my Tech Leadership career, and would personally describe the course as a mix of the following (in roughly equal measures):
- Lots of useful learnings about concepts I've no experience (budgets, investments, lowcode/nocode, outsourcing, board relations, CIO vs CTO, legal, compliance)
- A good amount of confirmation that I've got the right ideas (delivering successful projects, managing stakeholders, performance management of staff, influence)
- Anecdotal stories which allow you to recognise similarities in your own organisation/approach, and learn from and hear how they tackled the task

Another really useful aspect of the course is the community it provides. Having other Tech Leaders in a Slack group, and with really great monthly engagement in the Zoom calls opens up a whole host of opportunities to network, bounce ideas, and even get some support/feedback from unbiased peers.

Being able to suggest ideas, or start new initiatives with the backing of "Other CTOs have done something similar, and noticed X" or "On the CTO Academy they spoke about how Y can help to achieve Z" can really help give your ideas some accreditation, and even just help you feel more confident in your approach.

For a bit of background, I've been working as part of a growing company, mucking in with customers, management, and leadership for the past few years, just recently promoted to Software Engineering Manager reporting to our CTO. I've managed several teams of varying sizes (2-6) and have around 6 years of line manager experience. People with more experience may find that it's more confirmation, and people with less experience may learn more from the course. But, everyone will learn something, and there's a lot to get from the community that's been built.

I highly recommend CTO Academy to anyone looking to develop their leadership skills.

The MBA course is designed to cover a broad range of topics that any CTO or Head of engineering would be expected to have some awareness of. Be it the obvious "technology", or "How to design renumeration packages", or "Building psychological safety".

While some course videos briefly introduce certain topics, the community bridges these gaps with contributed links, engaging discussions, and monthly peer-to-peer meetings.

Despite leading engineering and technology functions for longer than I care to remember, I found myself having a number of "I wish I'd known that when ...." moments.

The MBA from CTO Academy was an excellent 360° course from a technical leadership perspective. The course provides a good structure for learning with each module, and additionally offers multiple resources (books, websites, etc.) that are helpful should you wish to take a much deeper dive than the course requires.

The course worked well for me as it allowed me to pause when I was busy for a few weeks, and then do some sprints when things eased up again to catch up without any pressures of falling behind - it's completely flexible and catered to your own journey while also being part of a syndicate group.

The team at CTO Academy is great, and I have no doubt that this course will continue to evolve and improve with their customer-first attitude and feedback loops.

I will first ask you, what are you looking for? Are you looking for someone else's experience or are you worthy to take on this challenge, to take on this new chapter of your life? I remember a Monk saying once .. if you keep on asking "How was your experience climbing the mountain?" Somehow you will be looking to experience what the other has .. Will you climb that mountain for yourself or for the other? A leader carves their own path. This is CTO Academy. I came here to gather my own unique experience and rump up my own career from Software Engineer to now Leading a team of amazing Engineers and the road does not stop here. I will keep on going, I will keep on climbing my own journey. CTO Academy has given me the tools to become a better version of myself, to get out of the shadow and come into the light. Having been in technology leadership for (ahem..) a long time I am continually looking for ways to refresh my skills and add to the 'toolbox' for my day-to-day role.

After a previous 'positive' encounter with CTO Academy where they mentored a member of my team over a period An opportunity at the end of one role and the beginning of another provided me with the space to start something new. CTO Academy was high on my list of possible options. After just over 12 months, I have just 'graduated' from their Digital MBA for Tech Leaders and all I can really say is "Wow!". The course takes you through all key aspects of technology leadership with modules delivered by people who have 'actually' been in my shoes.
