This turned out to be a complete scam. They took my money and never delivered anything. Thankfully, a provider named Fukayna Ward (415) 562-4719 was able to help me get my medication. Iâm sharing this because keeping such information to myself would feel selfish, especially toward others who are struggling like I was.
Use ANY OTHER pharmacy but express scripts
Literally the WORST company to get your medication from. They take 7 business days just to ship your medication (which is also a lie because it can take longer). What is express about that? I've used them twice now for 3 month fills, and each time it's been a headache and I've had to call customer service multiple times just to make sure they actually ship my medication.
The only good thing they have are their pharmacists who seem knowledgable and will make sure you get what you need if you speak to one directly, other than that god help you if you need your meds on time. I'll never use them again. You are better off with literally any other pharmacy.
Gross Incompetence of the Highest degree
Pure garbage. These idiots rejected my asthma medication when I had covid. I was told that the medication required prior authorization. I filed a complaint and requested that someone get the prior authorization taken care of. I called back a day or so later and was told that the generic was covered and that I should go to the pharmacy to have them re-run the request. It was rejected yet again. It appears that the Manager at Express Scripts flat out lied about speaking to the in-house pharmacist regarding the generic.

They will use any loophole they can to downgrade your 90 day supply to a 30 day supply. You can call and confirm that it is a 90 day supply, and then when you receive it it will only be a 30 day supply. They will require prior authorization for a medication, and then demand a patient level authorization for the same medication. Then they will request a cost override. Your doctor will be buried in paperwork, and you'll never get what you need from them .
This company is completely incompetent
This company is completely incompetent, if you don't have to use them I recommend you don't...and for God's sake don't put anything on auto-pay they will absolutely abuse it. They will run your CC up or drain your acct. if using a debit card. They don't like talking to you on the phone to solve a problem, they either want to dictate to you and get you off the phone as quickly as possible or they want to put you on hold for 20 mins. and pass you to another incompetent person.
I will no longer use Express Scripts
I used Express Scripts successfully for several years. Unfortunately, my experience over the past few months has been extremely frustrating. Some of my medications were delayed in both processing and shipping for over two weeks. As I was going on an overseas vacation, and did not receive my medications before leaving, I am now without medication. When I attempted to obtain assistance through multiple calls, the customer service was poor with some calls lasting more than 45 minutes. When I questioned the process, expressed frustration with repeated calls, and long wait times, the representative and her supervisor blamed me for not paying for expedited shipping. As a result, my family member had to ship my medication to Europe. The package is now stuck in customs and has yet to arrive. I do not intend to use Express Scripts again.

Express Scripts is the absolute worst
Express Scripts is the absolute worst. I have had to change to a medication that doesnât really work because they donât cover a med that I have been getting for years. I get regular emails telling me if I donât use their mail order system and continue to use my regular pharmacy they will charge me more for my medication. They denied a lidocaine patch for severe ankle pain so I can work as a flight attendant in between physical therapy appointments. Then when I tried to cal they just had me on the automated attendant loop and wouldnât put me through to a person. If your job has this option choose a different plan they are truly the absolute worst company. RUN

They cancel subscriptions without cause or notice, send substandard generics, and when you tell them to fill a prescription they've decided not to fill, they make you call your doctor to re-issue the Rx. I'd call their customer service a joke, but it's really not funny.

customer care agents are terrible. usually speak terrible English so communication on the issue is almost impossible. then they shuffle you to other agents and eventually hang up on you. they over bill so it's cheaper to get at the pharmacy monthly. Worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with!
I had prescriptions sent to them on a Wednesday. On that Friday I get notification need more info before they will fill. Called and talked to them. They cancel prescriptions because havent talked to doc. When doc. calls they are told to submit new ones because there are no current ones and then the cycle starts again! Told them my doctor is only in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays. They cancel my prescriptions and tell my why I shouldn't miss doses. LONG STORY SHORT. THEY HAVE DONE THIS FOUR TIMES and I have been without almost a month. Four sets of prescriptions a dozen phone calls but still they cancled prescriptions within a couple of days that I have been on for months and were prescribed by a DOCTOR!
Express Scripts more expensive and not knowledgeable
I have been using Express Scripts and CVS for many years now, and I thought CVS was bad but Express Scripts turned out to be far worse. I found out they were charging me double the price for a medication I needed. The representatives are not only unprofessional and combative when pressed, but also not knowledgeable about some medications, pre approval processes etc. Their answers many times are intended to prove their actions are correct instead of listening and working through the issue. For example, I got a notification today that one of my medication was not approved, when my doctor did not submit an order to them for approval and I had already received the medication through CVS! When I explained this to the agent. She said that they will get the pre approval request regardless of whether they r working the order or not, which is not true. I already picked up that medication 4 days ago. They therefore create confusion and complicate the situation. I will no longer use Express Scripts any more!

I wrote the same review for Accredo as they are both awful. I wish these reviews allowed to give 0 stars or even negative because that is what Accredo and Express Scripts deserve. Trust the reviews. They are all negative for a reason. It is a disgrace that my company is still doing business with this failure of an organization. I spent almost a month on over a dozen calls, talking to over 30-40 people. They never return calls when they say, and my doctor had to call about 6 times. Each time you call it is the first time. I will avoid using both companies ever again. I will spend much more just to avoid these awful companies and you should too. I finally called and canceled my prescription. I'm done.

Apparently, Express Scripts has adopted a totally AI generated customer support platform. As a result, no matter how frustrating, the AI platform does not transfer customers to a human being.
Frustrating, Non-existent Customer Service
I received an email requesting me to approve refills for 2 prescriptions from the Express Scripts website.
The website rejected my password and did recognize or locate my account when I tried to change my password.
After calling the phone no. on the back of my prescription membership, I was transferred 4 times to different resources to find someone who could access my account and approve the refills.
The agents assisting me were difficult to understand because of their accents, and no one was able to advise me how to avoid this problem in the future.
So after 30 minutes on the phone with customer service people, I got these refills approved, but no resolution moving forward.
The last agent I talked to kept talking louder, but not clearer, and then hung up on me.
Worst customer service I've had in quite a while, though I have no complaints regarding the mail order service at all.

I have been waiting for a prescription to be filled for days with absolutely no information available for shipment date. Multiple calls to customer service reps have assured me that the medication has been escalated and âprioritizedâ, and shipping expedited. But the yet the medication has not shipped or arrived. Nobody has any actual information, yet they assure the medical staff and patients that they are confident they will meet the needs. My learning here is to never use them in the future, if I want to save myself time and stress.

Such a bad experience for a person already struggling
I am a Registered Nurse working as a private duty nurse in a patient's home. The patient has a medical condition that has left him 100% incapacitated. His wife is having to handle everything. Because of the large number of medications he requires, I recommended she use the mail order pharmacy associated with her insurance, Express Scripts.
What a disaster! They have contacted her repeatedly for bits and pieces of information. When she has attempted to contact someone - anyone alive and breathing! - at this company she is left on hold for incredibly extensive periods of time. Time she needs to be spending with her husband, her young children and her job. There seems to be a total lack of communication within the organization. I can understand the need for a healthcare POA, but people have called her demanding to "speak to the patient" because of HIPAA issues. The patient is non-verbal/comatose and they have been told that repeatedly.
Bottom line, I feel absolutely horrible for suggesting she go this mail order route. She has now contacted the patients doctor and all will be handled through the original pharmacy. Sadly, I thought it would save her time and energy to have things delivered but in the end, it took up time and emotional energy. Very literally, this woman has lived through a type of hell that few of us could survive. I will never understand why healthcare partners/companies/providers make bad situations worse.
I have to say, I've had my meds delivered through Optum for several years and I have never had an issue. Not once.
