Such a bad experience for a person already struggling
I am a Registered Nurse working as a private duty nurse in a patient's home. The patient has a medical condition that has left him 100% incapacitated. His wife is having to handle everything. Because of the large number of medications he requires, I recommended she use the mail order pharmacy associated with her insurance, Express Scripts.
What a disaster! They have contacted her repeatedly for bits and pieces of information. When she has attempted to contact someone - anyone alive and breathing! - at this company she is left on hold for incredibly extensive periods of time. Time she needs to be spending with her husband, her young children and her job. There seems to be a total lack of communication within the organization. I can understand the need for a healthcare POA, but people have called her demanding to "speak to the patient" because of HIPAA issues. The patient is non-verbal/comatose and they have been told that repeatedly.
Bottom line, I feel absolutely horrible for suggesting she go this mail order route. She has now contacted the patients doctor and all will be handled through the original pharmacy. Sadly, I thought it would save her time and energy to have things delivered but in the end, it took up time and emotional energy. Very literally, this woman has lived through a type of hell that few of us could survive. I will never understand why healthcare partners/companies/providers make bad situations worse.
I have to say, I've had my meds delivered through Optum for several years and I have never had an issue. Not once.
From $0.00 to $1800.00 in a month and no one will tell me why
Express Scripts is the pharmacy for my Part D Medicare coverage. After a year of being on Wegovy due to ârisk of cardiovascular disease and eventsâ with proof of past myocardial infarction and a stent in the artery in my lower left ventrical, Express Scripts stopped coverage of my medication at the highest dosage level and left me in horrible stomach cramps and nausea at the age of 75. My doctor turned in the same prior authorization in accordance with FDA guidelines as he submitted a year before when Express Scripts granted coverage ( your heart never âhealsâ from a heart attack- the scarring and dysfunction is permanent); but Express Scripts denied my authorization and continues to do so. After contacting a patient advocate explaining that I was not even allowed to titrate down so as to not have this terrible pain, Express scripts sent a fake âsympathyâ letter and promised two prescriptions to cover me until I could be re-evaluated. I eagerly filled out the paperwork through tears and had my doctor submit the two prescriptions; only to again be promptly denied due to âno prior authorizationâ. This company is evil and cruel. They have turned over authorizations to Innovative Solutions, robotic evaluators that only grant a percentage of authorizations for expensive meds whether you qualify or not -just like United Healthcare was doing. We have to use Express Scripts because they are the pharmacy for PEBA, my wifeâs state insurance plan as a retired teacher; but if you have a choice, run fast and hard away from this cruel, mean company!
Canât login with express scripts
Canât login with express scripts. I canât get help on the phone. I have spent hours on hold. Absolutely the worst customer service ever.
Stop Pushing This Service
According to FedEx, my package hasn't been shipped. They just created a label to make it look like they did something. They told me the pharmacy was closed, yet they were not, in fact, closed when I called. There's something wrong with every person who works there. Don't use these people. They're worthless. They keep asking if I'm out of my medication. What's it to them? They charged me for expedited shipping and tried blaming it on FedEx, like Google doesn't exist.
Itâs impossible to reach a live person
Itâs impossible to reach a live person. Canceled one order and canât explain why. Mfpr a second order my doctor sent a prescription and when I went to fill it, I received a message stating the MD requested to not send this prescription. Called the doctor and they didnât know what they were taking about. The phone number goes to an automated system with no way of reaching a live agent. It turns out my local Walgreens is less expensive anyway.
Express Scripts is the absolute worstâŠ
Express Scripts is the absolute worst insurance Iâve ever had. Iâve been on 5 medications for 15+ years and every month there is some kind of problem. Prior auths needed for SAME medications & customer service is terrible, rude & no help when I call.
HORRIBLE!
It is rare that I write reviews about anything related to the medical industry, as I have worked in the medical field for many years and can understand the flaws, especially on the operations side of the industry.
However, there is a first time to have to write a review, and it starts with Express Scripts.
My dermatologist has sent in a script to Express Scripts in mid-April for a specific injection. Express Scripts has cancelled my script twice, end of April and end of May. My dermatologist sent in all the correct information including a prior authorization and I have also provided a co pay card for payment and Express Scripts still has the audacity to not fill the medication properly. Constantly always giving the runaround.
Furthermore, this particular medication has been processing for a THIRD TIME since JUNE 15TH 2025. I could only imagine if the medication needed was a lifesaving medication.
If you are counting on Express Scripts to keep you alive, I would highly recommend that you do not and find a different alternative.
Lastly their staff and communication process are absolutely horrible. All the staff does is bounce you around until they find a staff member that might know what they are talking about.
Unfortunately, due to Express Scripts, I continue to suffer with my symptoms and have given up chasing Express Scripts down to figure out the issue as to the horrendous delay of receiving my medication. I would rather continue to just suffer from the symptoms I am dealing with then to constantly try and reach out to Express Scripts. I am looking at other avenues to possibly find, such as Goodrx which I have had to use for other medications as Express Scripts charges double versus Goodrx.
If you want to find out more about Express Scripts, just do a simple google search regarding a Michigan Antitrust Lawsuit since April 2025. It doesn't stop there!
Accredo, which is a subsidiary of Express Scripts, is no better. Try speaking with both at the same time and the staff has NO CLUE what they are doing.
Shame on Express Scripts on the way they treat their customers!
Murderers!
Express Scripts have left with me without medications more times than I can count. These window licker could care less if people get their meds. I was told faxes were repeatedly sent to my provider (who states otherwise).
I was told by a head window licker they sent the request on 6/17 and the again on 6/28 ( a call from me prompted them to send it again). I asked what they would do if I never called and was told, they cancel the order. My provider never received anything. I've seen where people's spouses have died after not receiving meds. Express Scripts/Accredo are murderers....
DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY FOR ANY REASON!!
I am writing this review right after I got off the phone with their customer service department. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. I tried it because retail pharmacies have become a nightmare, but this place is even worse. Also I would avoid speaking to the pharmacist here because they are nothing but trouble.
Poorest Customer Service I have ever seen
I agree with the comment being run by a bunch of morons. One of my prescriptions did not get delivered back in February, so I had to reorder and pay the deductible again. That also extended the clock on the medication even though my first order has never been delivered. Fast forward 90 days, and they will not refill the medication because it is "too soon to fill." Five phone calls and almost an hour and a half of "Please hold for 3-5 minutes", and it still is not fixed. I was told on every one of the calls that they would override the situation (and the last one even asked me to pay again, which I agreed to do), but it still does not show as being filled. It has been a week, with almost daily calls to check. I have 4 days of medicine left, and their best response is that they are sorry and understand the frustration. Obviously, the DO NOT understand.
They send a tempting offer
They send a tempting offer, then they supposedly process the order for a long time, and finally send a refusal, making you guilty of the fact that they cannot fulfill their promises. An absolutely useless and even harmful resource.
Run from this company!
If you are shopping for insurance, run as fast as you can from an insurance plan using Express Scripts as the pharmacy benefit manager. Express Scripts did not use their own criteria for approving my medication and uses pharmacists to do a physicianâs job. They denied coverage for 6 different medications for diabetes. I met all of their criteria 5 months and 6 denials ago. The last medication that was denied for coverage was Janina with Metformin as a suggestion. If these geniuses would have looked, they would have known that they paid for my metformin for 4 1/2 years. The excuses used to deny me was a litany of âthe form wasnât filled out correctlyâ, âthe doctor didnât use the right formâ , the doctor didnât indicate you had type 2 diabetes, etc. They ended up just saying ânot medically necessary.â I met their own criteria from the get-go!
Avoid Cigna and Express Scripts if you can
My previous employer's insurance carried Express Scripts pharmacy. The name 'Express Scripts' in itself is false advertising. After placing an order, it would typically take two weeks for the medication to arrive at the house.
I had a recent change of employment and thus, a change in insurance provider. They actually use Amazon pharmacy. They notified me of a prescription that was ready to be filled on a Sunday just prior to a holiday. I requested that to be filled the same day. It was shipped moments later!
Pharmacy Company run by a bunch of morons
Pharmacy company is run by a bunch of morons. Takes forever to get medications. They'll promise overnight delivery but it will not occur. And then they'll send emails about how you could get all your medications from them. Incompetent idiots!!!
Absolutely terrible TERRIBLE company
Absolutely terrible TERRIBLE company. They sent in my critical prescription a day late, then when it was 2 days past when I should have received it I had to call THEM and they said they couldnât tell me if it would even be there in 5 DAYS !!! They didnât even have tracking info on it and they didnât get in contact with me or give me tracking info and they said they couldnât make any promises that it would get there in any amount of time. My prescriber had sent it in over a week prior by the wayâŠ.they asked if I wanted it express shipped next time for $20âŠno I just want it to be delivered on time. F-ing joke of a company I get why the reviews are so bad..go somewhere else.
Wasted days and Wasted nights.
Express Scripts. Said my health insurance would only pay for a week's worth of Meds, thereby canceling the other 3 weeks. It gets better, each time I go to the pharmacy, I can get a weeks worth, of meds. I hate to see what they do for an encore.
Express-scripts Predatory tactics
Express-scripts sent me needles I don't need WITHOUT contacting me and charging for it.
They asked me to discard the needles instead of taking it back and not will not issue a refund.
Shame on them for using predatory tactics to improve their bottom line!
Nothing yet but I just ditched AmazonâŠ
Nothing yet but I just ditched Amazon and one huge difference is that Express scripts works with local pharmacies. And because for Part D I had to choose Wellcare because every other drug insurance wanted $150,000 or more for my orphan drug which is shipped by a division of Express Scripts. And in 20 years they've rarely made a single mistake I chose Express. It took 20 minutes for them to know myedications. On line. Amazon took forever. Over a month to acknowledge coverage for a drug. It can't possibly be worse than Amazon. They got revenge on me by refusing to supply the drug they'd screwed up with.
CVS caremark I wouldn't get near. Before my husband retired his corporation used them. They are awful.
I will get some drugs filled retail. Goodrx can be helpful now and then. Drugs that I can't get 90 day supplies of. But for those boring drugs they've been fine. And not as opaque as Amazon was. I don't think Amazon is truly dedicated to this business. None of them are really. But at least express will refer you to a retail pharmacy if you're in a hurry. At a health center or a grocery store ( Kroger's) whatever. Amazon pretends that only mail order matters.
PLAYING WITH PEOPLES HEALTH!!
idiot liars that gamble with your health - do not say what they will do, and are often incompetent.
3 managers "reviewed and solved the problem" - only they all dropped the ball
If I could give them a zero I would
If I could give them a zero I would. The customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. They never follow through on my requests, which leads to delays in my medication. WORST EVER
