Matt - Impressive work ethic

I sent Chip an email with a query I had before taking out an ISA. I had an immediate response from Matt explaining all that I needed to know and details of the offer I had queried, so I went ahead and arranged the ISA on the Chip App. The following day I had another email from Matt to confirm that I had followed the process correctly and all was fine with the application. I’m so impressed with the customer service I received I had to write a review. Thanks again Matt for your attention to detail and work ethic.

First class service from Shel and Todd.

My chip app froze (probably a phone issue) which necessitated deleting and re-installing the app. In so doing, I lost access to my funds (the original mobile number upon which the account was opened is no longer in use). Shel and Todd at Chip responded to my emails immediately, a total of around 10 emails over 2 hours, and with efficiency and calmness restored my balance using an updated phone number. Could not ask for better service.

Very good service.

I contacted Chip with a query about using the app on a different device. Within 24 hours I had an email from Ben from Customer Services. Ben explained the app and gave me a solution.

We know not having inbound telephone support won’t suit everyone. Our in app chat is designed to be the quickest way to get help, with secure access to your account, but we understand it can feel limiting if you’d prefer to speak to someone directly and these can be actioned upon request.

On interest rates, we aim to stay competitive and regularly review our products, though rates can change depending on the market.

Avoid

Avoid, avoid avoid!
I have used it for nearly 2 years now without issue until they released their smart ISA. I made a transfer from my normal cash easy access ISA and then realised it was a fix 1 year rate! So decided to transfer out to a better fixed rate ISA with Barclays. After 3 rejections by chip to Barclays trying to access my money I am eventually told by chip that Barclays don’t have the correct procedures in place due to the new style ISA from chip to transfer!! They have made it difficult to access your cash. In the end I had to withdraw the cash into my bank account and lose my ISA status!!
It is a shame as they were very good in the normal savings accounts to transfer in & out but seems they wanted to create a way where you can’t access your money!!!

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience, especially after using Chip without issues for so long. That sounds incredibly frustrating.

To clarify, there’s no intention to make accessing your money difficult. Our Smart ISA follows a newer transfer process, and while most providers support this, some banks are still updating their procedures. Unfortunately, this can lead to delays or rejected transfers, as you experienced with Barclays.

We completely understand how disappointing it is to lose your ISA status as a result. That’s not the outcome we want for our customers, and we’re continuing to work with providers to improve compatibility and make transfers smoother.
