What went wrong? After six years my 6000€ bike collapsed and due to missing parts couldn t get a decent repair in Germany.
Add all the hazzles and troubles to send the bike forth and back to UK to no avail and without a sustainable repair in the end.
Finally i was advised by Gocycle's Matthias and Noel to just dump ist...
End of story !
Actually I had to dump 6000€..

Slowest service on the planet!
I use my GoCycle seasonally. It is always a struggle to get it working properly after months of being idle. But the worst problem is that the service is only through email. It is taking over a week to get a response to a question, then the follow up question takes another week. At this rate the season will be over and the bike will not be working properly.

J’avais un Gocyle GX qui a cassé à plusieurs reprises (axe de guidon cassé deux fois, moyeu arrière, pédalier défoncé). Les frais d’envoi sont importants, entre 70 et 100 € par envoi et par retour. De plus, il est nécessaire de récupérer son emballage. C'est une société sérieuse. Pour moi c'est un vélo avec un magnifique design, des technologies excellentes, mais qui n'est pas fait pour un usage quotidien, trop fragile, les pièces sont trop sur mesure. Le mien est parti à Amsterdam et sur une île espagnole. Je fais 93 kg pour 1m93. Il est possible que mon gabarit ne fût pas adapté.
TERRIBLE FENDERS
4k for a bike that does not have functioning fenders. They are cheap, bounce around, and scrape against your tire no matter what angle you set them at. Have fun with your wet asses!

Problems again
Problems again. After my last review and the excellent repair work by Fijn-Fietsen.nl in March 2025, it happened again in November 2025. The electric assistance no longer works properly in any mode. Only the "turbo button" works properly. It's unusable to ride. The app is useless. When I turn on the bike and the app, I get no battery indication. I can then turn the lights off, but they won't turn them back on. For everything to work, I have to restart both four or five times. Moreover, the app is still incomplete. Several options still don't work after almost a year. This makes the bike too expensive and too prone to malfunctions. On December 2nd, the bike goes back to Nijmegen. I'm curious how much it will cost this time. I'll keep you updated.
G4i und sehr zufrieden
Ich fahre das Rad (G4i) seit über einem Jahr und knapp 1000 Kilometern und bin total begeistert. Der Akku reicht die angegebenen 80 Kilometer, meist auch mehr. Die Schaltung (automatisiert) funktioniert bestens. Die Bremsen verrichten ihren Dienst auch bei längeren Abfahrten bestens.
Die vielgeschimpfte App funktioniert auch tadellos, wenn man sich an die Anleitung zum Verbinden mit dem Rad hält. In den Tiefen der App findet man auch wertvolle Tipps zur Wartung und Instandsetzung.
Was die Begeisterung bei mir etwas trübt: Bei montiertem Gepäckträger verstellt sich gerne die Sattelstütze leicht und die Kontaktstellen vom Klappmechanismus müssen ab und zu gefettet werden sonst kann es sporadisch zu Knackgeräuschen kommen.
Die Schaltung musste bis jetzt einmal (wegen Geräuschen aus dem Antrieb) neu justiert werden, was aber einfach über die App gemacht werden konnte.
Der Händler (Summit-Bikes) und auch der Service von Gocycle war bis jetzt vorbildlich.
Ich kann weder eine neue Firmware…
Ich kann weder eine neue Firmware aufspielen noch Reseten und somit kann ich auch die Software nicht nützen und das für zwei Klappräder für über 8.000€.
Ich kann jedem nur raten, Finger weg! Geht zum örtlichen Fahrradhändler, die sind kompetent, billiger und verkaufen keinen solchen Krempel das nicht funktioniert für soviel Geld!
Mon conseil : Ne jamais acheter un Gocycle
Bientôt une année sans mon vélo et voilà le résultat. Voici la réponse de mon revendeur: :
« Votre GoCycle a été refusé par GoCycle et est revenu chez nous. Etant donné les frais, nous n'avons pas tenté un deuxième envoi. Nous avons demandé la pièce à GoCycle et allons faire la réparation en magasin.
La pièce étant arrivé la semaine dernière, nous allons pouvoir nous penchez dessus ces prochains jours pour changer le faisceau principal. »
Mon conseil est de ne jamais jamais acheter de Gocycle ! 2 vélos et 2 pannes dont la premier n’était pas réparable. Si jamais le vélo n’est pas réparable, je n’aurai plus qu’à transmettre le dossier à mon assurance juridique Protekta qui est toujours très efficace afin d’être remboursé.

I requested assistance but received no response. There is no phone number to call. I intend to sell to both of my Go Cycles. I wish I had not wasted 9k pounds to buy them.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Customer service may not Seem like a significant issue. That's perhaps because you've never owned a go cycle.
In order to use the gocychle you have to register it via cell phone which is like a key to the bike. (Don't get a new phone and don't sell the bike.)
If you use the for a preset distancecertain it will shut off unless you update registration. I tried for several hours to reset registration with no success. I was eventually blocked from making additional attempts. I do not live in an area where there is a gocycle service shop it is hundreds of miles away. Therefore taking the bike to a go cycle shop was not practice. Local bike shops are not go cycle authorized. The local shop I took my bike to tried to make the corrections but was also unsuccessful.
If you want to use your go cycle and it has shut off you will try to obtain assistance directly from go cycle. There is no phone number to call. If you open a service request you will receive automated responses and be directed to Service Messages.
If the service message don't resolve your issue you will have wait until you received an additional electronic response.
I am now on my 3rd day of waiting and cannot use the go cycle.
While some of the features of the go cycle may compel purchase, as it did for me, I bought 4 of the model 4Gi. (Two for me and two for a friend.) The catchy features do not offset dependability and the inability of having local service on the bike.
There are a lot of options and I wish I had purchased elsewhere.
I hope this review is helpful in making the decision to purchase this product. If you live close to a go cycle dealer and service shop then it may be reasonable to purchase the golf cycle otherwise you may wait for text message service from Go cycle. Think about your use and expectations before buying go cycle or other brand that may me serviced locally.
Since this bike is more expensive than virtually any other electric bike on the market would it be reasonable to expect a human being be available to answer service questions? That question will likely not be part of your analysis until after you purchase the bike and realize that service is as integral to this product as buying a new super car.

Extensive issues with Gocycle gx
I’ve owned a second hand Gocycle GX that I purchased from the webshop for about two years now. During this time, the bike has had multiple major and minor malfunctions that required extensive repairs. It arrived with a tire that went flat in a day, a kickstand that broke on the first use, and malfunctioning electronics in the cockpit. After a month and a half, I had it repaired in a licensed gocycle repair shop that told me the battery had a molten pole due to damage in the interior of the bike. Fortunately I had it repaired by the official Gocycle headquarters in Amsterdam, free of charge. After that, the gear transmission broke during cycling, which was again repaired by Gocycle free of charge. A few months after that, the inner wiring required replacement. Because the bike had been pre-owned, and it happened 2 months after the 1 year warranty expired, initially Gocycle did not want to replace it, and after I mentioned that even after warranty, one is entitled to a proper functioning product, they stopped replying. After I reported this to the European consumer center for issues regarding warranty/rights/support when dealing with companies, Gocycle again promised to repair this issue free of charge. It did take 6 months before this issue was settled. Because I received all receipts from the repairs, I could see how much I would have had to pay, if all the repairs would have been out of pocket. This would be €6500 for all these repairs, for a bike that was purchased for €2000. While I enjoy riding this bike, I feel the slogan of ‘best bike in the world’ is pretty misleading. I like the design of this bike, as well as the attention to detail, and supposed features that add to the longevity of the bike, including the enclosed chains, easy to remove wheels, and mostly inner wiring. However, my experience with Gocycle has not been the smoothest overall. Had none of this happened, I would have highly recommended this bike. Now, I’m not so sure.
Update: the inner wirings have been repaired in Belgium(!!!) again free of charge, but only because of a complaint I made at the European consumer service. They tried to make me pay €700 for additional small repairs, which I refused. Two months after my I got it back, the motor stopped working. I do not recommend these bikes, period!

Aujourd'hui dhui j ai un problème de batterie et aucun revendeur peut me définir de façon exacte le problème pour savoir qu elle serait la solution !!! sachant que pour le moindre problème technique il faut envoyer le vélo en pologne et pour cela avant meme de definir le soucis vous avaez a payer minimum 400 euros pour l aller retour de votre vélo !!! un scandal !!!

New app has ruined the experience.
I'm shocked that the 'new' app has regressed to the point that in looks as though I could have laid it out better in PowerPoint. There used to be a nice looking, informative dash which is gone, along with several functions and useful metrics that were shown in dash view. What a shame, will definitely not cinsider buying another one unless this is resolved quickly. I also made a large pledge on your recent crowdfund, which has since been paused. If it restarts at any point, rest assured that my investment will be cancelled. Regressing your user interface in the app has had severely negative effects on your customers' enjoyment of your product for no logical reason. Clearly not listening to us, it's plain to see all over the internet. Big shame.

grottenschlechter Support - es dauert ewig bis man eine Antwort erhält - Onlineshop für Zubehör und Ersatzteile ungenügend - außerdem musste mein GS wegen Defekt am Lager des Vorderradabtriebs nach Amsterdam gesandt werden, da für die Reparatur ein Spezialwerzeug erforderlich ist, welches meiner Werkstatt vor Ort nicht zur Verfügung stand - das Rad war sage und schreibe 5 Monate in Amsterdam - als ich zurückbekommen habe hing das Adapterkabel welches hinter der Abdeckung der Ladebuchse im Rahmen verbaut ist heraus und es wurden zusätzlich beauftragte Arbeiten z. B. wechseln der Griffe nicht ausgeführt - nach 3 Monaten beginnt das Problem von Neuem - ich frage mich was da überhaupt repariert wurde - und jetzt läd es nicht mehr - früher könnte ich wenn der Ladevorgang nicht funktioniert hatte über ein Softwareupdate über die GocycleApp beheben - die App wurde synchronisiert- seither ist kein Softwareupdate mehr möglich - wahrscheinlich soll man gezwungen werden ein neues Gocycle zu kaufen - mit diesen Erfahrungen kaufe ich definitiv keines mehr - leider - denn das Design ist aussergewöhnlich un gefällt mir gut

Great bike but not perfect.
I’ll start by saying that I love the bike and am using it daily. My first gripe is the pedals. They have very little grip in German weather and feel cheap. Second is the emblem on the front is put on with an adhesive sticker and it came off. I put it back on and hopefully it stays. A little rubber piece on the bottom also came off and is now lost. Last is that for the money paid it would have been nice for the bike to have security built into the bike and app. I knew it wasn’t but it is a needed feature. Other than those things the bike is very nice.
A company who looks after it’s customers
The customer service i received by Keith at customer care was out of this world.My g4 was received on october 28th 2024 with an issue with the rear brake system.I was kept informed all the way by keith who was very patient with me as I suffer with mental health issues and try to deal with things myself.He was very kind and was able to resolve the problem after many emails.Not once did he get short with me,not like the bike shop where I originally purchased the bike from who where unfortunately very cold and blunt when i explained that i was having problems with the stress of receiving the bike with a problem after spending all that money on it.They did help to fix the bike and try to deal with the problem but when I opened up and said about my head being off track due to the logistics of it all I was told by the store owner I quote, “I’m not your doctor,and I’m not responsible for you”,the absolute opposite of how keith dealt with me.
I was given options by keith to resolve the problem and he made the whole experience run smoothly.I have worked in the optical industry for over 30 years but had to retire early due to health problems in 2020.I find driving a car a struggle so purchased what i am told by gocycle is the best bike in the world.
That statement is very true as the bike is an absolute joy to ride.One thing I will say to anybody thinking about purchasing one is that its best to purchase one from a dealer near to you or better still straight from gocycle themselves as this bike is like no other bike.
I have been riding for over 40 years and i have some knowledge and maintenance abilities but i really need to stress that this bike is unique.The construction and parts are far too specialized for anyone apart from a trained gocycle technician to work on.I attempted to try and fix the initial problem myself and made a complete mess of the brake system.
this has shown me just how special these bikes are and why they cost the amount they do.
I highly recommend gocycle as a company and as a product because they have treated me with the utmost of respect and they have completely restored my confidence in their electric bicycle.I don’t normally do reviews but had to in this case because I have been blown away by the service keith has given me.I know that I am hard work to deal with but not once did keith make me feel like i was being a nuisance,he is an absolute credit to the company.
