Updated review: Eleven days ago, I sent a polite email regarding my issues in the hopes that this company would, at the very least, help me out. To my dismay, no one from JPW Academy even bothered to respond. Plain unprofessionalism. If I cannot be replied to privately, perhaps I can be replied to publicly. Here is my predicament:

A few months ago, I paid over £500 in the hopes that your tutoring would have a positive effect on my daughter’s grades. She has been utilising your lessons and reported that they were both “vague” and “unhelpful” and is adamant that she can find all of these ‘secret grade 9 tips’ for free on any half-decent YouTube video.

The money I paid for this course was substantial- you must understand that. I, along with many others, certainly am not in the financial position to let this enormous sum of money simply go to waste. Tied into a three month contract, I could not have predicted this to be the case. The price I paid is nowhere near worth the quality that you promised; my daughter has not benefited from your course, and I have her grades as well as her word to prove it.

I feel scammed. I feel deceived.

I do not know what to do. I feel as if I’ve been robbed and I’m powerless against it.

Also, my daughter said that she hasn’t marked all the lessons she has watched as “complete” as she didn’t think it was necessary.

The quality of the tutorials has been excellent , the sessions are challenging and engaging and we really enjoy the homework and the system for video feedback. It’s a much more personalised approach than we had originally thought and Daisy in particular is amazing. The Loom system for submitting and receiving feedback is excellent and it is really helping my son boost his confidence, develop his skills and we can see the improvement on a weekly basis. From a borderline pass he is now enjoying the subject so much he’s considering it at A level - I do hope JPW are going to be doing A level English language next year as well !

The online lessons are really amazing in that if you do not understand a question or a lesson you can ask the teachers to re-explain as many times as you need to get it and they do so without being irritated or impatient.The homework feedback is also really helpful as for English,they do not just give generalised comments like 'explain effects more or write conceptually',they actually give examples of what you could add and where to boost your marks.Also for maths, in the feedback video ,the teacher shows how she got her answers in case it is different to your method,so then you know two different ways to do it.Overall,it is a very helpful and grade boosting program.I went from a grade 5/6 to 8+ in 3 months.

We had a really good experience with the English tutors here — they are very helpful and supportive on the calls, and they make sure to give the support we need when my son’s studies are difficult, and provide detailed feedback 😇

I signed my daughter up with JPW tutors after she commented that she wasn't doing as well at English at school as she would like to.
After a couple of months of doing 2 sessions a week I asked her how it was going.
She says :
" It's amazing ! I really like the sessions as they make everything clear and easy to understand. The way they break things down into simpler smaller tasks make the overall subject less daunting and now it makes more sense! The tutors are all really nice and include everyone on the call so I'm more confident to join in.
I like the fact it's online as it makes it easier to log in from home without having to go to a tutor somewhere else and it's flexible so I can choose which two classes to attend so I can still go to all of my sports training sessions.

The feedback on the homework is really helpful as they point out the strengths as well as the weaknesses which helps me to improve. The tutors are so nice when they give me feedback that I don't feel bad when I don't get a very good score and it helps me be more confident when I get a good score.
It's too early to say but I hope I get better marks in my next tests at school. "

JPW have been wonderful with my son, they go though GCSE questions in both English and Maths comprehensively and clearly. They embed the content with a follow up homework which again they go through.
I feel that my son’s confidence has grown since having his sessions. I’m hoping by the time his exams come round he will be well versed in exam techniques too.

The course is pitched to the needs of the group and the demands of the course really well and the personalised feedback on each assignment is incredibly useful.

Attending the JPW twice weekly group sessions enabled my son to not only gain confidence for English but a true love for it.He was able to learn new techniques and through the tutors feedback how to structure his essays.
We were blown away when we received his results yesterday 24.8.23 expecting to open grades at being a 6 or 7 and were beyond ecstatic with JPW'S help to achieve Grade 9s.
Highly recommended and a big thanks to all of the tutors there, especially Ryan and Daisy.

Worth every penny. Built my daughter's confidence in just about 3 months. In most hectic time with deadlines looming for coursework, revising for all other subjects at the same time.Daisy is superb tutor. Marking homework with useful, constructive feedback Only regret is not finding you guys this time last year.

I can not praise this company enough for the support they gave my daughter on the run up to her English Language and Literature GCSEs. The tutor was excellent! The sessions were thorough. The homework feedback which was bespoke to each student highlighted strengths and areas of improvement to work on each week after it had been marked. My daughter was expected to achieve Grade 3 and has just received Grade 6 in both exams. I would highly recommend them.

The level of response from the whole team is amazing, ranging from the numerous techniques they teach us to imply into our studies to their excellent marking, hard work and dedication to making their students as successful as possible. I started this course at the start of year 11 and I was getting grades around 5-6 and now I ended up with a 8 in Language and 9 in Literature.

A huge thank you to the team for the improvement in my son’s GCSE English results. At the beginning of the year he was getting grade 4/5, but today he has walked away with a 9 in English language and 6 in English Literature. An amazing improvement which is fully attributable to the tutoring you and the team have provided. Thank you!

Excellent programme of tuition from Jacob at JPW Academy. We chose a three month intervention leading up to the GCSE but ideally would have started earlier in Y10. Our son is dyslexic and has always struggled with English exams. He’s received his 2023 GCSE results and got an 8 and a 9 for English Lang and English.

I signed my 15-year-old son up for the English course a couple of months ago and it is the best thing I could have done. He had missed a considerable amount of school due to suffering with Long Covid and I was looking for something which was totally flexible and would enable him to keep up with his year group. The lessons are all online and are recorded so that if my son misses one, he is able to catch up at a time which works for him.
The standard of teaching is impressive. Thanks to Daisy and Lindsay who are always full of enthusiasm and kindness. Each student is made to feel like an individual and the positivity is infectious. The course material is outstanding and every topic is relevant to the GCSE English Language and literature exams. My son has become so much more enthusiastic about English and is happy to sit down for his lesson each evening.
Homework is set each week and my son receives his feedback via a Loom video. This has helped my son to improve his mark each week. There is also the option to submit any other English work which will be marked and feedback given. I really couldn’t have asked for much more.

My 14 year old son has started this for the summer. His confidence has grown each week and he enjoys the lessons. Homework is set each week based on the skills taught that week. My son’s most positive part of this is, having feedback on his homework which is a video going into detail providing constructive feedback. As a result of this his confidence has grown and will be more prepared for the start of year 10.

My son started lessons for English and Maths with JPW Academy this summer. The tutors are very professional and knowledgeable. The lessons are well-structured and the quality of teaching is very high. The personalised feedback on homework is very useful and has increased my son's enthusiasm for learning. He enjoys the lessons and he is looking forward to applying the exam techniques and skills gained to improve his exam grades when he starts year 10 in September and ultimately get grade 9s for GCSEs.

Just enquiring about doing maths tutoring. My husband wanted to look up the company address it does not have one. Had asked Jacob and he responded very rudely which was a red flag for me. Cant blame a person for doing their homework before handing over £700.

Most children loathe tuition because it doesn't really help or everything that they learn at school is just repeated and nothing really goes into their brains. The lesson was very well planned out, with easy to follow steps and guides that are really helping me with my English exams.

Even though it is in the evening after school when i'm tired, the lessons are really helpful. Daisy makes them fun and they are interactive. Having others on the call is valuable as can share ideas.
In an ideal world it would be just a group of AQA students to focus on the specific texts but that is fine
