We’ve used Mortgages First several times now and they’ve been great every time. Quick and clear communication, they listen to what you want/need and make suitable recommendations, and always follow up with what they say they will. I’d recommend Mortgages First to any one looking for support going with their mortgage/remortgage.

The information provided, the prices and interest rates, were all what we preferred as our goal we set and it was matched to our needs and also to help us find the best mortgage to what we knew we could sustain. Our advisor Paul Judkins was kind, professional, knowledgeable, on time and efficient and made our whole journey a lot easier. Explored all aspects to help protect our future and manage our present challenges. Would highly recommend. Cannot fault them at all.

Bradley was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. It can be a scary process a first time buyer with little experience or knowledge, but after my first conversation with Brad I immediately felt better informed and more confident. All my questions were answered clearly and the regular, friendly communication made me valued and supported.

This was the worst experience with a mortgage broker I had so far.
To start with, the mortgage advisor made my wife fee awful about herself for not having a life insurance so in case something happens to her I can still get on, Well, we know fully well what we want to do going forward and her taking on a life insurance is definitely not something we are looking to do.

Secondly, the mortgage advisor recommended a solicitor who was awful in the way they treated us as their clients. I had to personally chase third parties (this was the solicitor's job actually) just to see the mortgage offer through. When I confronted MortgagesFirst regarding this issue, they said it was out of their hands - despite stating at the initial interview that is the solicitors they are recommending are not moving things through, they actually have leverage over them (...nothing further from the truth).

Thirdly, it appears that a few months into the process, their solicitor found a clause in our house deeds that meant we had to either pay an additional £2,000 to resolve (on top of the £700 - £900 mentioned at the initial interview), or the choice of bank for us would be very limited (and with paying a kind of insurance worth a few hundreds of pounds). This led to us having to pay 7.5% interest for two months on top of the Help to Buy interest because of an 'omission' by MortgagesFirst. When confronted with this, the mortgage advisor stated he has never heard about anything like this. Well...being involved with the mortgages industry on a daily basis, I find that very hard to believe (so the second dishonesty).

And finally, I had to ask for my Amazon referral voucher on several occasions rather than being sent one by default on completion day.

I would not recommend this company going forward.

We had a lot of pressure put on us when purchasing our next property (newbuild). Bellway kept pushing us to use their advisory service and I simply refused (even though it was free). Why would I when the service received from Steve has always been fantastic!
Steve has always been great at explaining things to us and he is so knowledgeable.
Any advice needed, he is always happy to help. Steve assisted is regarding a query with regards to property we was considering putting an offer in against and I noticed a few red flags. Steve took time out of his schedule (on a Saturday) and called me to weigh up the pros and cons leading us to where we are now. In a much better financial situation by not moving forward with a new build and not the other property.
I cannot recommend Steve Alexander enough. He’s friendly too which makes the appointments a breeze and more relaxed as sometimes a lot of information being thrown around is so daunting. Especially in this climate.
I work for a mortgage lender therefore I deal with a lot of intermediaries, the good and the bad!
Due to this, I have quite high expectations and Steve has always exceeded these. His response times are great and is happy to assist when anything upfront pops up!
He has helped us meet the pushy developer deadlines (we all know how annoying they can be) and has got us a mortgage offer from Nationwide in our hands within 2 weeks of the initial mortgage appointment.

Honestly the staff were so polite and helpful. As first timer buyers we were very anxious and worried about getting a mortgage. The staff who supported us. Lauren and Andrew. Were so helpfull, kind, and very knowledgeable they made the whole process very smooth and eased out anxiety around the whole thing. Would 100% recommend mortgages first to friends and family.
