We spend ages looking at houses after details matching our search criteria come up in an email, these are more often than not poor matches at best and in many cases have a service charge which I don't think should be allowed. (This is where developers often build poor quality infrastructure which the local authority will not adopt).
I have on a number of occasions tried the "contact us" section on the website. This has never worked always coming up with an unhelpful "something went wrong" message. I would love if these companies were open to constructive criticism as I personally would like an option in the account settings to permanently set preferences such as never show properties with "service charges" or always show "houses greater than 120m² with at least 5 AND at most 6 bedrooms AND 0 of the bedrooms on the ground floor"
The floor plans are often poor on here too, while this is likely to be the fault of the estate agents, on the market could if they wanted to require them to provide floor plans "capable of being reproduced using the measurements provided".
This would at leat highlight the fact that you can't get a double bed into a 3m x 3m L shaped "bedroom" due to the fact about 1.5m x 1.5m chunk in the corner is taken up by the bathroom, which in this particular case was also the shape of a Tetris piece.

AWFUL

AWFUL. I'm not convinced their website is even connected to the Internet.
No contact phone numbers. Their email services crashes everytime you hit send.
Zero response to enquiries from ANY agents.

Stop calling me!

Stop calling me!! When you set up a profile and link and even remove your number and say no text no call no email they constantly keep calling. Stop calling. I’ve been emailed them to complain to say stop .. charged all my details online. Removed my mobile and email. And well. you get it. Hi this is X from in the market .. so I’ve now answered and asked them to take my details off there call log.

Drives me mad. Do you think harassing people will get a house sale. I’d rather not use your services

Online Valuation tool is rubbish

Having entered all the correct information into the online valuation tool On The Market came up with an estimated monthly rental figure of £750 and a range between £540 - £950. I know similar properties have let for nearly double the estimate and I am currently getting close to that. I think their algorithm is seriously flawed to come up with such figures. So much for AI. Needless to say I will not be proceeding with them.

Don't put our properties exclusively on OnTheMarket

So annoying that my Kent estate agent insists on putting property on OnThe Marketfirst , which appears to have a very wonky countdown clock, that keeps adding, rather than removing seconds and minutes to when your property is supposed not to be exclusively on their site. Why do agents do this? I have been waiting two days to get my house onto Rightmove - still no sign. No point in being visible anywhere other than Rightmove. All us buyers and sellers know this, but agents clearly saving money (and wasting valuable time for sellers) by using OTM and Zoopla first before shelling out for your property to go on Rightmove at higher fee. Get us on Rightmove, guys! Forget the other platforms.

I recently contacted OnTheMarket


I recently contacted OnTheMarket regarding a rental property after being served a Section 21 notice, as I urgently need to secure a new home. Initially, the person I spoke to seemed friendly and enthusiastic when I mentioned I was looking for a three-bedroom property. However, as soon as I explained that I work as a restaurant supervisor earning £22,000 a year, their attitude changed completely.

I was abruptly told that I would need to earn at least £60,000 to meet the criteria, and the tone became dismissive and unhelpful. There was no attempt to explore alternatives, such as a guarantor, joint applicants, or any other possible solutions. The conversation felt very one-sided and lacked any empathy for my situation.

Given how challenging the rental market is right now—especially with ongoing changes to rental laws—I had hoped for at least some guidance or understanding. Instead, I was left feeling belittled, distressed, and without any support at a time when I really needed it.

I would strongly encourage better training in customer care and more awareness of the difficulties renters are currently facing.

Disappointing pressure tactics and lack of professionalism

I had a mixed experience with Miranda in Kettering. While the property presentation itself was pleasant and the agent was kind at first, things took a turn for the worse immediately after.
She used aggressive sales tactics, giving us only a few hours to make a final decision. When we decided not to rush such a significant commitment and sent an email to explain our position, she went completely silent. Not even bothering to reply to an email just because we didn't succumb to the pressure is, in my opinion, super unprofessional.
It is a shame that a good first impression was ruined by a total lack of basic courtesy and professional communication.
