OwlCrate is fantastic
OwlCrate is fantastic! They are thorough, helpful, and always do their best to keep everything up to date! Their items are great quality, and the people are super sweet and helpful. Anytime I’ve had a question or concern, they are always there to save the day. Highly recommend!
Same Day Resolution
I had an order that wasn’t shipped out when it was suppose to and when I contacted OwlCrate customer support about it, they were super quick to fix the problem and I received my book two days later with the shipment date being the same day I contacted them! I really appreciate the quickness to fix the issue I had and the apologetic response I received the day I got my book that explained what happened originally.
OwlCrate - company turned family
OwlCrate is a company that feels more like a family - and you, the customer, are their favourite child. Every interaction I have had with a team member has been so positive - whether it be via email, on their app (The Nest), or on social media. As a customer, I feel valued because of their clear and frequent communication. If there are shipping delays or any issues, they are sure to contact you right away. Their Customer Success team is not just efficient, but they also treat you as a person and not just a number. They really make you feel valued and understood.
I personally subscribe to their Adult book and YA book + goodies boxes. Their book choices are excellent and I appreciate their inclusion of diverse authors. They support artists’ work in a way that is so important in this era of AI, something that I value immensely. My boxes have always arrived in perfect condition and the shipping process has been simple. The one time that my tracking number wasn’t working, I emailed Customer Success and they had responded and fixed my issue within a few hours.
I also love that the Owlcrate team ask for input and take customers’ suggestions into account when releasing new products. For example, they asked for community input before releasing new subscription boxes. They are ethical, inclusive and innovative, making them without a doubt my FAVOURITE famil- I mean company to support. Owlcrate has never failed to impress me, I highly recommend checking them out!

I’ve been following OwlCrate since 2016. Unfortunately I don’t have a subscription at this time (on the waitlist) but the community has been really great! I’m excited that they’re adding quarterly subscriptions and really listening to what we, as consumers, are looking for as well as taking in our feedback!

Lowering my review score until improvements are made. If no improvements, I’ll lower it more. I am not above a one-star review if it’s been earned.
Sadly, OwlCrate has made some big mistakes over the last half year.
First was the disappointment of the Six of Crows goodie boxes. The items were laughable and the company took no responsibility. The copy pasted responses boiled down to its our (the consumers’) fault we were disappointed.
Second was the removal of the informative cards and pamphlets without warning shortly after the middle of the year. Why in the middle of the year when many considered them collectibles just like the bookmarks, mugs, and pins? They claim it was to cut paper waste yet every box is jammed packed with those infernal paper crinkles. Again the response was copy-pasted taking no responsibility. Another “sorry *you’re* upset but get over it”.
Then third was the rug pull that is the ongoing nightmare that is the new early access system. When the quarterly genre based subscriptions were announced we were repeatedly told that the early access for special sales would shift to a four-day system going genre-specific subs, all other active subs, newsletter and Nest users, then the public. Everyone was happy with that! It’s a super fair system! Then with the announcement of the upcoming Deep End, we were told without warning (after wrong and varying info was posted across the various platforms) that sales would now be genre-specific subs first THEN other subs AND newsletter AND Nest. What happened to early access ahead of non-subscribers as part of the price of our subscription? Hundreds of complaint comments on instagram later and we still have no response.
My last complaint has been growing continuously over the past couple years. Lack of trigger warnings on theme reveals. Some (not all) of their books have featured some sensitive topics. An upcoming book is very gruesome and triggering. It would not be difficult for a couple extra lines to be typed up warning the reader of what they may be getting into, so that they may make the choice to skip that month’s box.
In the past OwlCrate has been very transparent company who prided themselves on being an inclusive safe place. I’m sad watching those values fall to the wayside in favor of greed and ego.
I still stand by my opinion that the book quality is outstanding (though they do seem to frequently struggle with getting consistent stenciled edges) and worth the price. The books themselves still fall well in line with the cost of standard versions. The Nest is a lovely community that’s fun to be a part of.
Overall, I think if the whole of OwlCrate would take the time to reflect and think deeply on their actions, and remedied these above issues I think so many people would not just be happy, but grateful too.

I’ve tried a few different book subscription boxes over the years, and none of them I’ve bothered to stick with, except for OwlCrate. I’ve been an OwlCrate YA box sub full time since around 2019, and been a subscriber of their adult fantasy book only box since it launched in July 2023. Their book customizations are worth their weight in gold. They don’t hesitate in pulling out all the stops in making beautiful books. The best part of the OwlCrate experience, though, is the community. Everybody always treats others with respect. Feedback is listened to and taken to heart. They’re transparent as they can be with all aspects of the business. They are just as excited about books as we are, and that sets them apart from any other sub box out there.

I can't say enough about how amazing these boxes are. They have some of the most beautiful special editions and always do a great job with fun items to include with the boxes. They always keep you posted with shipping updates and Customer support has always been very easy to work with. I really feel like you not only get a book box but a whole community of friends with owlcrate and as a stay at home mom this is always appreciated.
Owlcrate Got Me Back Into Reading
I love Owlcrate as a company and is one of my favorite book subscription services. I have been a subscriber of Owlcrate since 2019 and since then have subscribed to the young adult and adult book boxes as well as many of their special edition books outside of their monthly books. Their items are always great quality and their customer service is polite and super helpful. They also have a rewards system that allows you to save on one time purchases or subscriptions. I plan on being a subscriber for as long as possible.
Amazing customer service!
I've been a subscriber since 2016 & I've truly never been disappointed by the boxes I've received. When I had a question about a Black Friday order, I received a prompt notice of my question & a full answer the next day.
One time, my local usps office lost my whole box. Owlcrate customer service emailed me back within hours & helped me figure out how to contact usps & file the missing package. When the investigation was over & concluded that the package was truly lost, Owlcrate sent me another box. Any time I've had any issue, owlcrate customer service has been quick & efficient with getting back to me & helping solve it.
Favorite book subscription
They always have the best books with beautiful and exclusive customizations. Very communicative too! Especially with shipping which is normally super quick. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a book subscription or for somewhere to my special editions of books!

I have enjoyed all of my book boxes since I became a member (Dec 2023) and I even went and ordered some older boxes. All of the books and little gifts are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve had such an amazing time with the Nest community!

Awesome monthly book subscription
I've been a long time subscriber to Owlcrate and I have been continually impressed with this service. They take subscriber feedback to heart and continue to add new amazing book customizations and subscription options. Customer service has always been easy to contact and quick to respond to questions and concerns. On the few occasions the monthly subscription was shipping late I always received transparent communication (email) around the delays.
Love OC!
OC customer support team is always helping me out! They respond within 48 hours to about of my inquiries, and even adjust things for me like changing shipping addresses for a later box, or skipping/unskipping boxes. When I was worried about getting a chance to buy Ruthless vows from the waitlis, they assured me that they were working through the waitlist and I hadn’t missed my opportunity.
On another note, I absolutely LOVE the art direction OC goes with for most of their projects.
I also LOVE the Nest app and community and the discord!! I have found my people!
Love the company
I absolutely love the community that OwlCrate has built. As a recent addition to the Nest (I joined back in the fall, but didn’t really become active until the spring), I love how welcoming the community has been. People just love discussing books, special editions, and the Words and Whimsy challenges are such a great way to choose books to read.
I also want to shoutout the customer support team. Every time I have an issue, they’re very kind and work quickly to help me resolve my issues, even if it’s just this past time, where I wanted to switch my billing to a different schedule.
Fantastic book subscription company
Owlcrate books are beautifully and thoughtfully designed, well packaged and great quality. In my opinion they are one of the best special edition boxes in terms of art quality and unlike some subscription boxes they are willing to put popular pics in their monthly subscription rather than separate them into an additional purchase. Love Owlcrate!

I absolutely love owlcrate, I have the young adult subscription and hopefully will get off the waitlist for adult soon. The shipping has always been good and everything is always well packed in the packaging. I receive the goodies with my subscription and always enjoy all the little things that are put into my box.

Alway helpful in answering questions and keeping us updated on any publisher problems. Any problems have been addressed and fixed quickly (within a week). The books are interesting and the boxes help make reading exciting each month!

I absolutely adore the creativity in the books OwlCrate picks. There are so many book subscriptions out there, and I settled on OwlCrate for that very reason. They don’t pigeonhole themselves. I also really like the creativity they put into the covers. I’m always excited to see what all they have come up with. If you’re looking for a subscription box, I definitely recommend this one!
Only good experiences so far!
So far I have only had good experiences with Owlcrate both with their book-only subscription as well as buying special editions from their website. I really appreciate their unlimited skip policy for their subscriptions so you don’t have to buy books that you don’t want just to keep the subscription. I have not had their subscription for long so I can’t speak on issues they have had in the past but it does seem they are trying their best to make changes and I am very excited for their new quarterly subscriptions!
