Complete Control: Life Changing
I finished the 8 week Complete Control program and found it life changing. Lol, not to sound too dramatic but, if you want to live life full out, you have to clear up those things/thoughts that stop you. Getting into the Why's and moving into the Why Nots! is simply up to you. It is a multi-modality approach, when done with ruthless honesty, can propel you into your best life. What? All this in 8 weeks? Yes, if you apply yourself. Dang, it's only the quality of the rest of your life we're talking about here. Go for it!

5YNB! I can't thank this group enough, five years since OYNB helped me to give up my wine habit. The challenging aspect, the accountability, the daily emails, the quit lit, the support of so many people in the same boat as me, 'grey area' drinkers who wanted to break that habit - I know I couldn't have done it on my own. Thank you all! You helped me realise that I was gaining a lot more than I was giving up.

This is a fantastic programme
This is a fantastic programme for anyone wanting to reduce or cut out alcohol and embrace an alcohol free way of life. I joined the Challenge Plus programme and really enjoyed the huddles and daily challenges. I'm not normally a 'joining' type but showing up and listening or sharing on a regular basis meant that I've made it to Day 46 alcohol free - in the past, I've struggled with just a few days! The coaches are so knowledgeable, empathetic and patient and the community is so supportive. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone trying to get control of the impact alcohol has on their life.

There’s better ways out there!
It’s very simple. You pay a fee to get one, yes one short video a day with a short write up. Then you’ve access to basically a Facebook page. Then from day one your bombarded with costly upgrade requests. Once you quit absolutely no response. It’s all about commerce and nothing to do with genuine help

We fully take on board your feedback regarding our marketing and I can guarantee that this is something we will be changing ASAP.
I will argue that although you may well feel it is about commerce, we will state it absolutely is not. Of course it requires funding to deliver certain features at OYNB, such as our coaching programmes, but we try to provide exceptional resources and a safe space for little cost. If you look at our 90 day challenge, we provide 90 days of science based tasks/learnings over video content, a large online community support with access to coaching videos, lifetime access to bonus courses such as Mindfulness and Control, downloadable E-books, AF trackers, Podcast episodes, Blogs and more, all for £27. That is a lot of value for the cost. We would encourage anyone signing up to explore and you will find all of this.
We have helped change the lives of thousands of people from all over the world. We have witnessed so much self growth and now see so many of our members out there, coaching and inspiring others.
It may not have been for you and we completely appreciate that. We have been in touch and fully returned your money and I hope that you do find the right fit for you because there is so much amazing support out there.

Improved all aspects of my life
So over the last two years this programme has helped me completely change my relationship with alcohol. I had no more of a problem drinking than 99% of the population but knew it was having a negative impact on various parts of my life. I now rarely drink and life is infinitely better. You get daily emails, tips and access to a private Facebook group with a wonderful community of people to support you along your way.
They teach you how to cut down or stop without using willpower alone which isn't sustainable. The cost is minuscule compared to what alcohol costs you directly and more so indirectly.
If you’re ready to try and better yourself, give it a go!!! I’ve lost weight, I have more energy to play with my kids, I have zero anxiety and I’m absolutely flying at work.
I can only presume that the negative reviews on here are from those who suffer from serious alcohol addiction and expect this to cure them. That’s not who it’s for. If you just drink too much and are concerned it’s holding you back then it absolutely is!!!
I honestly can’t thank them enough.
Just for context, I’m a 39 year old male living in the north of England. I have two kids and run my own business.

There is a very high pressure upsell to…
There is a very high pressure upsell to buy the £48 per month challenge plus package. They repeatedly email you about it after you have said no multiple times when registering, offer a 7-day trial and phone call to try to sell again. I bought the 90-day challenge for £27 originally. This is a positive thing to be involved in otherwise. I would look at This Naked Mind Annie Grace, incredible analysis and approach. She tried to upsell to a $1000 package but at least all the good stuff you need is free.

Really quite disgusted
Really quite disgusted. I am a recovery worker and thought this might be a good idea to help my husband with his relationship with alcohol. We looked at it and decided to take up the £27 offer for support with 90 days no drinking. As soon as the £27 came out of our account we were quickly informed that to get the full experience we would need to pay £50 a month. We declined. It was then suggested that if we don’t spend £50 a month we are obviously not taking it seriously enough and are likely to fail. Lots of negative language used and almost bullying behaviour. Goes against everything I’ve learnt working in recovery. Do not recommend.

Our 90 day Reset & Realign challenge is currently heavily reduced so there is no better time to sign up than now. We have reduced this to try and be more accommodating in the current financial climate.
Through your sign up, we do present a special offer for access to our very popular group coaching community which is run by our life coaches. Within here we deliver 20 weekly zooms for members to jump on to. While this is a fantastic tool to have on your journey and we are offering people a free opportunity to trial this, we apologise sincerely if the language or tone we used to encourage members to look at this, made you feel like you would not succeed as this is not true. Thousand of members come to us every month and the majority will sign up for 90 day challenge on it's own and we have very high success rates in helping people change their relationship with alcohol by using our 90 day challenge.
I will ensure your feedback is addressed and we review how we are talking to members about this membership but I do hope that we can offer some support to you and your loved ones in the future as I know we can help.

Very expensive for what it is
Very expensive for what it is. They basically send you e mails with stuff you can get got free online. They then also ask for more money every other week to sign you up to even more expensive programmes.

We do offer entry into OYNB through our 90 day Reset and Realign challenge for £25. We believe this cost to be very fair considering the resource and material we deliver and when considering what we normally spend on alcohol over 3 months, this is a great priced investment. With this purchase you will receive 90 days of email and video support, 90 days of online community access, a members account with access to our webinars, e-books and more. We have now also added in lifetime access to our Take Control and Mindfulness courses. I would say the value for money is exceptional.
We do offer additional options to choose from but these are in no way required. A lot of people enjoy the coaching aspect to our challenges and we add on group or 1:1 coaching as an additional cost as we do need to cover expenses for delivering this add on service.

Very happy to have successfully completed the 90-day challenge…
I just completed the 90-day challenge and have overcome a lifetime dependency on alcohol because of the OYNB Challenge Plus program. This is an accomplishment that I had thought was not possible. That statement is pretty scary when you reflect on the control that alcohol has over you. Alcohol is a big business and a lot of money is invested in keeping you tied to that lifestyle (dependency). OYNB has a very effective model of knowledge-base, daily connection, support through Zoom "huddles" and Facebook accountability. Over many years prior to joining OYNB, I had read all the books on breaking the alcohol habit, listened to all of the podcasts and audiobooks - very good information - but nothing gave me the support that made the change in my life like OYNB. Best time and money that I ever spent. It was a very non-judgemental, encouraging, understanding process and taking this journey with others who are doing the same thing is very powerful. I am so grateful to now sleep well, wake up feeling like a normal human being, have so much more energy, model great behavior to my children and am doing so many other things now that my evenings are not devoted to having a couple of glasses of wine and then being too tired to do anything else. I recommend this program to anyone who is trying to change their relationship with alcohol.

Doesn’t work and better free alternatives
Not sure what I’ve paid for if I’m honest..you get access to a Facebook group which is the same as all the other being sober groups and get sent a daily 2-4 min video to listen to…If I’m honest it had no impact on stopping me drinking

A sad decline in company values
I was a fierce advocate for OYNB for over two years. I have very much changed my views in the past four months. It is not just due to the reorientation of the program towards a dominant message of moderation mentioned here by others, but of a shift in the company values. A business can have no greater asset than loyalty and trust, and I feel this has been totally shattered, with many long-term supporters leaving the Facebook community which is the backbone of the program and one of its greatest features. I know my review will be rebutted by the company. I have already emailed OYNB, and I have left the community of support, sad and deeply disappointed.

Based on this we have created a brand new support program so that everyone has their place to be supported not just those who choose to be completely alcohol free. I also just want to point out that our moderation course Take Control was offered to members for free originally and then for £5. The larger payment you may be referring to is our Complete Control which is a habit change programme, not specific to moderation and designed for business owners/entrepreneurs.
This has been shared within the OYNB communities to ensure everyone who needs it has the opportunity to get the support that fits with their journey personally. We also shared a long video from CEO Ruari Fairbairns into the communities which received wonderful responses from those understanding now what we are trying to achieve here. Our community is for everyone and it always will be.
Our focus is to now build bridges, help long time members like yourself understand why we are taking this direction and we hope in time it helps create some clarity. Members will continue to come and go, this has been the case since OYNB was created and it is sad but we will still be here, offering a supportive and safe space to people looking for it.

No longer has any moral compass.
I joined this group 3 years ago and at the start it was amazing. A safe, open place to engage with others trying to change their relationship with alcohol. Following the departure of one of the founding members a year or so ago the company had taken a very worrying change of direction and is now trying to offer members (many of whom have been medically close to death due to alcohol, lost their families, had criminal convictions and more) a promise that for the small fee of a ridiculous amount of money 😳😳 they can totally change their relationship with alcohol and moderate their drinking habits. Seriously!!!! I feel there is now absolutely no moral compass within the bones of the current owner. He is endangering people’s lives. Posts within the group now have to be assessed for admin approval (after many long term members expressed their disgust at this new direction the company was taking which ended up with their posts being deleted/closed for comments) prior to being published. This was previously not the case. The previous instant publications of people’s posts and instant response in this group from others offering support/advice was what will have saved many, many people from picking up a drink at times of temptation. The company have lost all integrity and sadly is putting cash over the actual welfare of vulnerable people. AVOID.

Where’d the integrity go?
Originally I would have rated this company higher. That is, until the CEO lost all sense of morals, and let money and greed take over his sense of decency. The name of the company is OYNB. When I signed up, it offered 28- 90- and 365-day challenges to stop drinking for that period of time. After completing my OYNB, I could see my life was so much better without the influence of the poison we call alcohol.
The CEO Ruari Fairbains is now however offering a new course, trying to tell its members that they can learn to moderate their drinking habits (apparently after only 4 weeks!) and stay on the booze. Say what?!? And when the community members voiced their concerns, their comments and posts were deleted. Muted. Censored.
I think when the co-founder of this company left, he took the vision and integrity with him. All that is left is an empty shell. And the current owner is desperately looking to cash in somehow. Anyhow. At anyone’s expense.

RUN don’t walk
The company itself was great in the beginning. So many people have created new lives without alcohol and now they are marketing those people with a “new program to help people moderate.” Those people that lost families, jobs, did jail time, went to rehab, were injured while drunk. Literally now marketing “moderating alcohol” to those people. Wildly immoral and enraging.

The Best Gift You Can Give Yourself
This is THE best thing I’ve done in the past 3 years for my physical, mental & emotional health. I highly recommend the One Year No Beer programme to anyone who wants or needs to commit to either giving up alcohol or changing their relationship with it. I completed the One Year Challenge during the whole of 2020, and am currently doing the challenge for a second time. I started my second challenge on August 19th 2022.

I did the 90 day challenge but walked away a little bitter
I did the 90 day challenge, I really enjoyed the daily videos they really helped me but towards the last 3 weeks it did feel like they were struggling with content.The Facebook group members are what really makes OYNB special, a very non-judgemental supportive group of people, I just wish the OYNB team participated more in the group, there was the occasional live video, which felt last minute and wasn’t at a peak time to capture the majority of members, there were about 1 a month. It is a shame that I am now an ambassador for OYNB as it really worked for me, I’ve been getting a great joy from supporting and helping other members who are struggling and passing on my experience, yet unless I pay for a further challenge or £5 a month I am removed from a Facebook group. I’d be happy to pay £5 a month for a Facebook group if more effort was made on there by the OYNB team. It’s a real shame as i feel OYNB are removing people who are promoting their brand and helping their clients, also feels their ethos is questionable isolating you because you won’t pay them £5 a month for a free social media platform. There is also a strong emphasis on their coaching, again at a further fee which I didn’t feel I would need but I’f I did it looked to be very supportive. I didn’t sign up for the 365 due to the video content struggling and becoming more diluted where I couldn’t connect with them as much. Was a shame to walk away with a bitter taste in my mouth after what should have been a great experience. As such I’m not sure now I would be recommending OYNB to anyone.

Your feedback regarding our presence in here is heard and it's a change we will be working on right now. We have put together ideas on what we can bring to this wonderful community, new content ideas, videos etc so we definitely hear you on this point. The work that goes in to moderating and administrating the groups does take time and resource which is why we brought in the monthly cost but we do still feel that what members receive in return makes the amount worthwhile.
We would love to bring you back into the community as we make changes and I sincerely hope you do consider this as the cost is less than 1 drink in some places and this is giving you a support community access for 30 days.
