Regarding resale tickets, it’s worth noting that many listings on secondary marketplaces are speculative—meaning the seller doesn’t yet have the ticket and only attempts to purchase it once someone buys from them. That’s why they can appear very quickly, even if primary tickets are still in high demand.
There’s no single solution to fully eliminate bots or resellers—this requires a multi-layered approach. Queue-it’s waiting room is one part of that strategy, working alongside other protections defined by the organizer.

For many high-demand ticket sales, a pre-queue is used before the sale opens. When that happens, everyone who arrives before the start time is randomly assigned a position once the queue begins. This prevents people from gaining an advantage by refreshing early, using faster connections, or using automated tools.

The setup of the pre-queue and the queue rules are defined by the event organizer, not by Queue-it. Randomization in these scenarios is widely used because it’s considered the fairest way to distribute access when demand exceeds supply.

Once you leave the protected page or return to the queue after being let in, your original position can no longer be held. Queue-it controls access to the site, but seat selection and navigation within the booking flow are handled by the ticketing provider. Going back to choose a different seat can sometimes require rejoining the queue, depending on how the event is configured.

Queue-it provides the virtual waiting room to manage high demand fairly, but ticket availability, purchase limits (such as only allowing 1 ticket per customer), and the checkout/basket process are controlled by the ticketing provider and event organizer—not Queue-it.

If the basket step failed, that would typically happen on the ticketing site during the handoff after the queue.

How long a position is held and whether session keep-alive features are enabled is determined by the organization running the event, not by Queue-it directly. These settings are often chosen to balance fairness and system stability during extended queues.

The option to transfer your queue position to another device works by sending a unique link that restores the original session. However, this can fail if the session has expired, the link is opened in a different browser context (for example, private/incognito mode), cookies are blocked, or if the event’s queue setup doesn’t allow session restoration after a certain point.

Queue configurations are defined by the organization running the event—in this case, the Pokémon Store—including how long queue positions are held and under what conditions a rejoin is possible. In some setups, once a session is released, rejoining from the original position is no longer technically possible.

Regarding your friend getting tickets before you: in some setups, the organization using Queue-it chooses to add a pre-queue before the actual queue opens. When that happens, everyone who joined before the official start time is randomized into the queue to ensure no one gets an unfair advantage by, say, refreshing early, having faster internet, or using a bot. That could explain why someone who joined slightly later ended up ahead. But again, hard to say exactly without knowing which waiting room you're in.

How many people are allowed through at once—and how many portals or booking spots are available—is determined by the organization using Queue-it based on their system capacity, not by Queue-it itself. That said, we understand how important a smooth experience is, and we regularly work with our customers to help improve it.

Regarding the wait estimate, Queue-it shows “more than an hour” when wait times get longer than that because the estimate can change significantly, especially if the event organizer adjusts how quickly people are let through. It is a tradeoff, though. It's best to be as informed as possible. But we've chosen to keep the message general for waits over an hour to avoid setting wrong expectations, rather than giving a number that could swing wildly.

Queues for high-demand matches like this one can reach tens or even hundreds of thousands of fans, so unfortunately not everyone will be able to get tickets. The queue randomizes everyone at start time to ensure everyone has a fair shot at getting the first spot in queue -- kind of like a live raffle.

We know it’s frustrating to see tickets pop up on resale sites right after, but it's worth noting that many of those listings are speculative. In a lot of cases, the seller doesn’t actually own the tickets—they only try to buy them once someone purchases from them on the secondary site.
