I would recommend using the SDLT Experts, if you find yourselves in the same circumstances as us. As they charge on a % win fee then there is no harm in trying. Jon also gave the very sensible advice of putting the money away for 6-months, just in case HMRC had a change of heart - at the end of the day better earning interest in our account than in theirs!

The whole process was very quick, with an easy to complete questionnaire, which you then have to evidence with photos.

Great communication, no fuss, easy process

Really easy claim process, good communication throughout. I had done quite a lot of research on the claim and was confident we were eligible, but it was reassuring and far simpler to use a specialist. Whole process took about 6 weeks including the Christmas break.

Was contacted by Jon from sdlt regarding an over charge on our stamp duty for our annex.
After a phone conversation and him explaining in more detail we decided it was a no brainer .
A few bits of paperwork to fill in and some photos to back everything up .
This was just before Christmas.
I received an email from Jon on the 10th Jan with great news.
A few days later we received payment of over £12500

When we first received the personalised video message in the post about our overpayment on stamp duty we were a little sceptical. That being said we had tried to look into multiple dwellings relief during our purchase so we thought why not! Jon was really helpful and comms were simple enough. The professional way in which I was notified that I was entitled to the additional stamp refund.
