Payment issue that was not likely on my part -- since the card worked everywhere but through Homebody payment -- was troublesome, but Homebody handled the situation with grace and Connor Martellaro helped me easily renew my policy.

It didn't feel as if I was just making an address change; we kept it light-hearted, and they explained the process to get a new policy for my new apartment. I feel good about having more insight into renters' insurance and processes.

Bad business and horrible customer service
I had a very poor customer service experience with Homebody Insurance Agency, specifically with representative Connor Martellaro.
My issue involved repeated billing discrepancies and a lack of clear, consistent explanation regarding how charges were calculated compared to the terms presented at enrollment. I repeatedly requested a written breakdown of the billing cycle and how it aligned with the stated policy terms, but instead received general references to terms and conditions and links without a direct explanation addressing my specific dates and charges.
Throughout the interaction, my requests for escalation were not initially acknowledged, and I was redirected to phone support despite clearly requesting written communication only for documentation purposes. This made it difficult to properly resolve or verify the billing issue in writing.
Due to the lack of clear resolution and inconsistent explanations regarding billing timing and policy application, I have escalated this matter to the Virginia Bureau of Insurance for review of billing practices and disclosure concerns.
I am sharing this experience so other customers are aware of the importance of carefully reviewing billing terms and ensuring clear written confirmation of how charges will be applied.

There was an issue which affected my insurance from showing in the portal. I called and reached Jorge and he placed me on hold and resolved the matter in minutes. He even went ahead and emailed my leasing office for extra confirmation. I could not be more pleased with the excellent level of customer service I was provided.

Terrible service. On the phone for too long waiting for no one to pick up. My lease ended in Oct 2025 and I am still being charged $15 a month. I want a refund and my money back as no one picks up the phone as I am trying to cancel it. If this keeps going on I am going to call the police as I have now paid an extra $60 on top of the scam of insurance that is overrated anyways. This company just uses you to put money in their own pockets. Do not use this company. They do not care about you and just want to steal from you. Like I have waiting over 15 minutes on hold. No one followed back up with me. I want my refund, thinking about suing too. Wouldn't be surprised if they aren't answering the phone because they are too busy getting arrested for money laundering or some other fishy bullshit they are up to. What a joke.

I received excellent service from Luke today. I needed proof of insurance forwarded to my rental office. I’m a disabled Military Veteran, with a TBI. Luke forwarded everything to the rental office for me. Luke is the life saver in a storm. He’s professional, kind, respectful, patient, knowledgeable and put my mind at ease. They are the worst
They are the worst. I had to have my insurance verified through them for my apartment rental, where they control which insurance you get. They make it so difficult to get any other insurance. they don't answer phone calls or emails. They keep rejecting insurance so to push you to buy their own insurance.
Cheap but rude and unreliable
No outstanding great experiences, they charged me after I canceled. And when I called to cancel again… they were very short and rude. Cheap price when insurance is required. But nothing special about them

Continuous Payment After Lease Ends
Even after your lease ends, they continue TAKING MONEY OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT. Terrible customer service and predatory business model. The company should be ashamed. I've been out of my apartment for 7 months now. I've lost over $100 to them for literally no reason. DO NOT USE THEM FOR RENTERS INSURANCE

Once your policy ends, be sure to cancel otherwise they will automatically renew it and TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT without authorizing it. You will of course be blamed for this. The agents are dismissive and will hang up in your face. Super unprofessional and unreliable company. Use others for homeowner's insurance!!!
Don’t use Homebody
I had a very unsatisfactory experience with Homebody. My policy was supposed to be cancelled as my lease had ended and I already moved out. They continued billing me so I called again to cancel service and their customer service representatives were extremely rude and unhelpful. They said they would refund the premium forward, but would not backdate it to my move out nor repay the “convenience fee” they were also charging. Very unprofessional behavior and I would not recommend anyone use them.
