Your sink has been made as we have always made them, in Waterside, just outside Darwen in Lancashire, since 1897. Dear Mr Channon,
Assuming this relates to the same issue you wrote about in your Trustpilot reviews of 28th April and 3rd May, I'm afraid our response is the same. Shaws fireclay sinks do come with a lifetime warranty, but accessories such as basket strainers only come with a one year warranty. We do note your frustration on this point, but at present these are the warranties that apply.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a Trustpilot review of Shaws. We do appreciate it, especially as you are one of the minority of customers who choose a 'Biscuit' finish. You're right, 'Ivory' would be a better description of the colour! It's also interesting that you have transverse mounted your sink, with the overflow against the wall. This can work very well - some people do this with our Bathroom Belfast sinks. We'd love to see a picture, if you feel like sharing one! Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Shaws of Darwen. We do read every one, and note comments both positive and negative. We're sorry that you've been disappointed in your sink. Our sinks follow a traditional fireclay design with a relatively flat base, so many owners do wipe around with a cloth after use. Crazing is not normal, but can occur in any ceramic sink. No manufacturer has yet discovered a method of preventing it entirely, nor can crazing be predicted in advance. Very few Shaws sinks develop crazing, but if yours has, you may be able to make a warranty claim. Chips are also rare, and its surprising that you've had problems given that you have a sink grid. Your review suggests that you made a claim within the warranty but it was rejected, and now your warranty has expired? Are you a UK customer? If so, we'd be happy to take another look at this if you email your details to our Customer Services team at sales@shawsofdarwen.com. If you're an international customer please email so we can advise you further.

First, thank you for writing a Trustpilot review. We do appreciate it, even when the comments are negative. We're sorry to hear that you had a disappointing customer service experience with Shaws, and especially sorry that you are not happy with your sink. The issue you raise is genuinely not something we come across very often, if at all.
No overflow that we're aware of offers 100% protection against flooding. Most modern taps, paired with high water pressure, are capable of filling a sink quicker than an overflow can drain it. The overflow weirs on our Belfast and Pendle sinks are design features, based on sinks that have been made for over 120 years. We don't specifically promote them as more resistant to flooding than other sinks. But you raise a fair point - could we make the overflow work better, given the design of the sink? We will look at it, although I'm afraid it will not help your current situation.
