Learning with Silk has been fantastic. Sisi (teacher) and Coco (sales) have been incredibly easy to work with and very helpful. Coco has been very thorough in explaining the different instructions options/pricing and consistently follows up. Sisi is great at clearly explaining language points I may be struggling with and is fun to work with.

My language skills have increased dramatically since beginning my study with Silk. When I speak with Chinese natives, they are frequently surprised at my progression and how much I have in such a short time.

I elected for 1-on-1 teaching sessions, which turned out to be a very good choice. The instruction that I receive is tailored to my specific needs (i.e. less pronunciation, more vocabulary). Also, the flexibility that the 1:1 sessions offer allows me to reschedule as conflicts come up.

Overall, the instruction is high quality and priced fairly.

During Shanghai lockdown at 2022 I was searching for a qualified Chinese online school and luckily I found Silkmandarin. I applied for the HSK1 course and it was an fantastic experience what Silkmandarin can provide on the platform with very professional structured online media components for the self learning, additional the online classroom on the ClassIn platform very well designed with tools for an professional interactive class session environment. Christina has been a wonderful teacher! She has catered my HSK 5 lessons to suit my goals, and often includes discussions about current news or Chinese slang/internet language to supplement the textbook materials. She is always prepared for the lessons and gives interesting writing topics for homework, which she helps review at the beginning of the lesson. I’m very happy with Silk Mandarin’s Chinese lessons, especially since my Chinese level continues to improve!

Silk Mandarin is a very organised school. They use creative & engaging online materials and relevant offline activities to make Chinese easier to pick up.
SM staff were accommodating, they arranged HSK2 individual lessons and HSK3 group lessons for me. Hannah laoshi is caring and very patient with me when correcting my pronunciation and sentence structure. She makes the lessons enjoyable as she diligently covers every grammar point. I think this is essential, and it motivates me to continue learning.

I have experienced wonderful time with Mrs. Catherine - a very friendly and supportive teacher. Before having classes at Silk Mandarin, I only learned Chinese through reading social media contents which means my speaking skill was very poor. This drawback has concerned me for a while yet has been improved as I took the 1:1 course with Catherine. She has showed me a wide range of lexical resources, both formal (for writing) and informal (for daily life speaking) ones. She has also let me to read all articles out loud as well as fixed my pronunciation errors. I have to write article as my homework in order to foster my writing skill. Apart from these, she also gave me some advice on discovering life in China. I feel very grateful that my time in China has Silk Mandarin's accompany.

I'm very happy with my experience, it was easier than i thought to learn my first chinese characters. I went through an online class for 10 lessons, the teachers are here to explain details about characters that make them fun to learn and easier to remember. My teacher was Sisi!
Also the school helped me a LOT with getting my visa and with the problems i had while applying for it. I've been in contact with a total of 5 different teachers/managers, and all of them were lovely and very polite. I can't wait to go on with my course in Shanghai!

My main goal was to learn as much as possible within a short period of time during my stay in Shanghai. I went to Silk Mandarin every day and took one on one classes for 2 months in total. My Mandarin skills were non existent before I took classes. My learning curve was great, because I can manage my daily life using Chinese. Everybody at Silk Mandarin was helpful with all of my questions. My teacher Jane Wu motivated me every time I felt that I can't keep up anymore. She also supported me with knowledge about the Chinese culture, which is as much important as learning the language.

The school replied to my questions in a very professional way, which was one of the reasons why I chose Silk Mandarin. Also the online teaching videos are really helpful and fun to learn with. Everything is explained in detail and in a fun way. I liked preparing for the class and reviewing again after class. This made my lessons in class much more effective, because I could already use what I learned and practice with my teacher.

I am really happy that I chose Silk Mandarin and I can recommend this school hundred percent to anybody who wants to learn Chinese in a friendly and challenging environment. I almost finished HSK 3 within a couple of months and I will also take online classes when I am back in Germany.

I tried to learn Chinese with a private teacher and After 4 months I gave up because I could not see real improvement and got desperate. 4 years later I came across a very funny and creative video about chinese language. I found out that the video was created by a chinese language school (Silk Mandarin) in Shanghai and I watched more of their videos. After watching some of the videos, I got motivated and decided to give chinese a second try! I started from the beginning, HSK 1 Blended course which is amazing for people with tight schedules. Because each student studied the lesson before class on our own time and during the online class we just practiced and reviewed if we had some questions. Silk Mandarin was very flexible and helped me finding a class that fitted my schedule perfectly. This course was great to remind myself what I learned before and practice my pronunciation during the class. After I completed the HSK1 course I decided to continue with HSK2 but I told Silk Mandarin that I wanted a different type of blended course. Once again they were very flexible and helpful. They offered me a Blended Course with onsite class instead of online. Online Blended course was a good start but onsite class is better for further levels like HSK2. I think the communication between teacher and student flows better and it really makes a difference to improve pronunciation.

I've been a student at Silk Mandarin for 14 months, taking between 1.5 and 3 hours of classes per week and in that time my mandarin capability has greatly improved. Sarah has been a wonderful teacher and has tailored my course to suit my needs, mixing in HSK and practical vocabulary. Cultural context and self-study suggestions are also given. Would highly recommend Silk Mandarin to anyone looking to take their learning experience to the next step.
