I don't normally write reviews but the poor ones for The Seamstress of Bloomsbury are the complete opposite of my experience! I own two dresses, two blouses, a skirt, a Fair Isle slipover, and a cardigan. Each item was carefully described on the website including sizing and fabric used. My email queries were answered quickly, thoroughly, and thoughtfully. Parcels from the UK arrived as expected and were packaged nicely. I sew and can attest to the good finish on these vintage-style pieces. My Dolores dress especially gets me tons of compliments.

If you are happy with a vintage looking piece that is extremely poor quality for around 80 to 90 then these products will be perfect for you. I was super shocked when my cute dress arrived extremely see through the belt was so thin it was laughable and there where strings hanging of it, i find the false marketing of this brand really disrespectful so if you truly want a good quality garment then dont shop here.

Received my dress. My expectations were high for the price. I’ve purchased SHEIN and Rihoas dresses before, I would say it’s the same quality of fabric. Feels plasticky, see through! Beautiful pattern but the quality isn’t there. I’ll take the LOSs, but will never order again. For SHEIN quality, SHEIN is cheaper.

My parcel was delivered the day after I ordered the dresses which was amazing. Unfortunately, the Ava dress was a very strange shape and neither the size 14 (my usual size) or 16 fitted me. The waist was tight, and the arms were very long and completely covered my hands (I am 5ft 5.5 in tall). Be aware that returns are not free.

I own a good handful of pieces from the seamstress of bloomsbury and I adore them all. I especially love their rayon fabric that they use, it makes it feel more authentic, and it sits lovely on me - everything they make is very flattering to the body :)! These dresses are just like my true vintage dresses from the 40s and I love it. My only issue is that on two dresses that I have purchased - the hem is very uneven (swoops down randomly at the side) but it is not a hard fix if you know how to sew

The most beautifully made dresses I own! The fabric is a gorgeous crepe de chine (which in my experience I’ve never found anywhere else, absolutely beautiful!). I now have three dresses and counting.. they are all so flattering and well made. Lovely colours and classic vintage design that’s very hard to find anywhere else! Customer service is amazing too, although I forgot to request the free beret, when I contacted Seamstress of Bloomsbury they were so kind and posted it out separately. So happy I discovered them :) x

I ordered two dresses from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury as options to wear for a vintage inspired dance performance I was doing. And I follow one of their models on instagram which is how I discovered the company.

Admittedly I was in a hurry when I ordered the dresses - as I had been let down by my original costume plan - and I ordered one of the dresses in the wrong size! Whoops!

The dresses were sent out quickly and arrived the next day which was wonderful, and they were both gorgeously vibrant colours and beautifully cut.

Naturally I had to go with the Red Polka Peggy dress for my performance, as it was the one I ordered in the right size! The fit is really nice, and with the dress being wrap in style I found it sat really nicely around the neck and bust line, whilst the wrap part of the skirt comes over really well.

The dress moved beautifully during my dance performance too, and I can vouch for how comfortable it was during the performance too, so I knew it would be a dress I could easily wear all day on future occasions. The length was perfect - which as a taller lady is refreshing!

My plan was to send back whichever dress I did not use, however when I saw the Cindy, even though it was not in my size (my aforementioned error in ordering) I knew I had to exchange the dress for the correct size because it was also so lovely.

I did get the correct size Cindy dress, and as soon as I put it on I wanted to frolic...that's the only way I can describe it. The skirt is beautiful and flows so elegantly, whilst the neckline is incredibly vintage in style but oh so flattering, and again the fit is just spot on.

The other thing I would like to note here is the customer service I received. When I did the exchange I needed it sent to a different address than I had the original sent to. And the team at The Seamstress of Bloomsbury were just so lovely and accommodating and really went above and beyond to ensure that I got the dress, and was happy with everything.
I was made to feel so valued as a customer and I really appreciate how they responded and corresponded with me through the process.

I am so pleased with my purchases from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury, and will definitely be a repeat customer.

thrilled, wonderful wonderful dress, beautifully packaged, received super quick and fits as if it was made to measure!
I will definitely be reordering.

Really wish I had read the reviews on here before buying 4 items. The quality is not great even my partner who knows little about fashion said it looked cheap and for over £75 a dress it is not cheap!

The items were really creased,no lining and made from cheap material. Even the buttons are made of a cheap plastic.

So disappointed, really wanted to love this brand.

I bought a skirt from them recently for an event, thinking they are selling high quality clothes. I am so disspointed. Now the event is close I can not get a refund and have to wear it but it all came crumpled up, in a very poor shape and condition, I had to iron the skirt a lot to make it look like a skirt again, which is very unprofessional. But what is even more unprofessional is, the skirt is just a piece of fabric. If you understand even just a little bit about clothes you will know that there should be a lining in a skirt, and they used such a thin and lightweight fabric, it just shows inside and becomes transparent with the sun?? I can only use the skirt when it’s nighttime I guess? And if you do not want to sew a lining at least bind the seams and make it right for your customers. They just make it look like it’s a high quality brand but there is absolutely nothing professional or high quality about it. Definitely doesn’t worth the price.

The dress I received was faulty but I am impressed how quickly they resolved this issue. They always responded to my email promptly and politely which made me feel like I was looked after very well throughout the process. The replacement was perfect and was much better quality.

Outstanding customer service which you never get in the UK nowadays. Thank you to Jack and the team, I will be surely shopping with you again.

Beautiful clothing but poorly made and my dress ripped before I even got to wear it out. Not worth the expense.

Authentic and superbly made 1950s men’s high waisted trousers, highly recommended.
P.S Seamstress of Bloomsbury if you read this, when are you replenishing your stock of menswear?

I have bought two blouses from this company and it was speedy delivery.
The item was well described and fitted perfect. I ordered a size 10. ( of which is my size normally)
I have wore both and they fit comfortably and look fab! Easy wearing.

I haven't washed them yet... that's my next mission. A hand-wash.

Returning customer. Thought I'd treat my Wife to the Patti Sailor dress in green. Has a pretty collar with a white band. A stunning bow tie at the front with discreet buttons at the front. The dress fits really well on her as if it was made to measure. We both admire the 1940s inspired dresses from the Seamstress of Bloomsbury with it's exquisite attention to detail. Only ordered it yesterday. Delivery by Royal Mail tracked and it has just arrived today. We are both vey happy with the dress. Happy customers.

Beautiful clothes and designs but do not last.

I bought my daughter a too and some trousers and both developed holes despite not having been worn or washed much. Really disappointed given the cost
