Thanks for the blunt feedback — that’s something we take seriously.

If the app or connection isn’t working at all, that’s not acceptable. We’d really appreciate the chance to help troubleshoot or at least understand what went wrong. You can reach our support team anytime at support@vpnsecure.me.

Regardless of the recent controversy, your service should work — period. If it didn’t, we owe you better.

Very Poor Management; Complete failure and not to be trusted

Is lifetime subscription cancellation the correct decision?
They claim that they did not know about these subscriptions when they bought the business.
How can you trust someone with your data and privacy who started a business and was either tricked or could not check properly what they are signing up to. These are supposedly a software company and rigorous checks should be their routine.
Secondly, how can one trust doing business with someone who do not honour or respect their clients. They found out about clients and instead of writing to them with offers or grace period, they just disconnect them with no respect.
They could have offered us 2 years grace period. They could send notification through the app if they were that bright in using software.
Neither the competency nor business skills have been shown in this case.

Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts — we understand why this came across as careless and unprofessional.

To clarify one part: we did offer a two-year grace period. From the moment we acquired the infrastructure in 2023, we kept all Lifetime accounts active without interruption or payment. That access continued until April 2025 — entirely at our own cost — even though those subscriptions were not disclosed, not transferred to us legally, and we never received revenue from them.

You’re right that we should have communicated earlier and more clearly. Our initial silence created confusion, and by the time we sent out notices, delivery rates were already unreliable due to the age and state of the email list. That’s a failure we own.

We hear you loud and clear: trust is earned, not claimed. And in this case, we didn’t earn it with how this transition was handled.

Lifetime Member Lied To - New CEO Stole Paid Service

Lifetime subscription customer here. I noticed my VPN membership was stating the subscription expired April 27th, 2025 with no other publicly available explanation. As I work in IT with experience hosting services I assumed this would be a temporary error and in a couple days would be resolved. I tried again on April 28th and I sent an email to their support team. April 29th I sent a follow up email as I got no response and no SLA timeframe.

April 30th I got a marketing email falsely claiming the lifetime membership I purchased is no longer valid but if I pay monthly I can continue my membership. All because the CEO did not do any research into the company they purchased, complained about the risks they took in buying something, and their buyers remorse. Obviously I sent a response outlining how it is not the customers fault the venture capitalists makes mistakes sometimes. Making the anecdote this is no different than buying a house only for the bank to steal the keys and offer to rent the house the customer already paid off.

In response I got canned marketing emails telling me to pay for the service. A claim that an email was sent to me prior with a warning that this was going to happen. Going on to tell me if I have a problem with this go talk to StackSocial (which I never used nor did I mention prior) for a refund.

So I ignored the copy pasted email response and have been looking into legal action in small claims court to set a precedent for future technology service customers.

May 10th I get a mass update email from the new CEO with some bold and fictitious claims. Suggesting customers should know when service providers change ownership (without ever getting emails to notify the customers of this). Another marketing pitch to sell customers on a product they just had stolen from them but now on a monthly charge when their prior license was already paid off in full.
An offer to customers to come to Trust Pilot and rate the product. Which I am doing now and will mass copy this review to other similar rating websites.

And a guarantee from the new management. Quote "You will never hear about Lifetime Deals from our company — we never offered them, and we never will."

Which that is a lie because we would not have a lifetime membership with VPN Secure if VPN Secure never did offer those memberships. You can see the terminal liar of a CEO making lie after lie.

Finally May 17th a new new mass email coming out claiming this email is not a sales pitch. Later at the bottom of the email there is a sales pitch with advertised prices pushed onto customers who had their memberships revoked without notice.

In this final email the CEO finally admits they were lying about notifying people about their memberships being terminated. Blaming the email servers rather than taking accountability. For those not in tech. If an email is not sent correctly, it will very quickly send back a report to the sender that the email does not exist or failed to send. Go ahead and try emailing a fake email address like WeValueLifetimeMembers@)vpnsecure.me and it will send you a reply that the email failed to be received. As someone with decades of IT experience I can assure you their IT team doesn't need a high school degree to figure that out if they did actually send notification emails. Assuming the CEO is literate enough to understand this so far.

And then they threw out some random dollar figures without any validity, and a long history of lying to their customers. If they were serious about trying to save face, they would post an earnings report in that email to prove they are being honest as they have negative rapport, getting worse each day.
The CEO went on to cry more about how unfair it was they were not told about the company details before buying the company and then literally switching gears to immediately admit they should have googled the company once to prevent their fictional and emotional strife. Reality is they thought of this company life a home they can flip. Steal the keys and rent to the home owners for a venture capitalist profit.

They then bemoaned about their rights and how they can take away memberships. Which begs the question. Why would anyone ever touch their product again if the new CEO is already setting themselves up again to again cancel memberships again and again to make people pay again and again for the same thing they already paid for.

They ended the email claiming to not copy paste their responses when literally the responses they do give are word for word, character by character, exactly the same.

The new CEO and their new design is built on lies, greed, deception, crime, profiteering, venture capitalism.

1) Spread the word
2) Boycott VPNSecure
3) Take legal action

Company response: CEO hates free market capitalism, will burn company down for a quick buck

Updated Answer: ⬇️

We’ll just clarify one thing here, Tyler:

We don’t hate free market capitalism — we’re living the harsh side of it. We inherited only the technical assets, none of the cash or contractual liabilities, and we’ve been transparent about that from the start.

If we were here to make a “quick buck,” we would have shut the whole thing down quietly. Instead, we stayed, answered every angry review (including yours), and tried to keep things afloat with limited resources.

We get that you won’t believe us — that’s your right. But no matter what, we’re still showing up, even for the harshest feedback.

— VPN Secure Team

Original Answer: ⬇️

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and passionate account — even though it’s deeply critical, we read every word.

We won’t try to refute every point — clearly, trust has already been broken, and nothing we say here will reverse that. But we do want to make one thing clear:

VPN Secure was not purchased as a company — it was acquired via a stripped-down, asset-only transaction. That means: no contracts, no payment records, no user revenue from LTDs, and no continuity of the original business entity. What was transferred were technical assets — not legal obligations. That’s not “venture capitalism.” It’s an unfortunate legal and operational distinction that affects many distressed sales in the tech world.

Still, we chose to keep LTD accounts running for 2 more years at our own cost, because even though we weren’t obligated, we felt the right thing was to give users continued access while we figured things out. We also sent multiple messages, but due to a 20%+ bounce rate and delivery throttling (yes, you’re right — transactional vs mass delivery is very different), many simply never reached inboxes. We’ve acknowledged that failure many times now, including in the May 17th email you referenced.

You are absolutely within your rights to pursue action, warn others, or walk away. We haven’t hidden, deleted reviews, or disabled our Trustpilot page — we’ve shown up and responded, even when it hurts.

Not everyone will accept our explanation. That’s fair. But we hope you find a provider that better meets your expectations, and we sincerely regret that this was your experience with us.

An absolute shower of a company - may they reap what they've sown

What VPN Secure has pulled here is nothing short of daylight robbery. They've shamelessly ripped up lifetime subscriptions, hiding behind pathetic excuses about being a "small team" and not knowing about these obligations. Absolute nonsense - any competent business doing proper due diligence would have uncovered these subscriptions. The truth is they knew exactly what they were doing, waited two years to avoid immediate backlash, then stabbed their customers in the back when they thought they could get away with it.

Their attempt to justify this betrayal by comparing themselves to other companies is insulting. Offering existing customers the "privilege" of paying again after stealing what they'd already rightfully purchased is the height of corporate greed. If they had any integrity, they would have honoured the subscriptions or at least offered proper compensation - not this pathetic discount that still requires victims to line their pockets again.

This isn't just unethical - it's almost certainly illegal. Under UK consumer law, goods and services must be as described, and "lifetime" isn't ambiguous terminology. Similar laws exist all around the world — but of course, they've conveniently relocated to the Bahamas, haven't they? A nice little tax and legal haven where they know full well no ordinary customer can afford to challenge them legally. How very telling that a company supposedly built on "trust" has run away to a jurisdiction where they're virtually untouchable.

The sheer arrogance of their communication is breathtaking. They actually have the nerve to position themselves as the good guys in this farce! There's nothing ethical about taking money for lifetime access then welching on the deal when it suits them. Their actions show nothing but contempt.

After seeing all the well-deserved 1-star reviews, I can only hope this disgusting behaviour costs them dearly. Companies that treat their customers with this level of disrespect don't deserve to survive.

Here's hoping they go bust and serve as a warning to other businesses considering similar scams.

Thank you for the detailed feedback — we can’t deny how strongly you feel, and we won’t try to dismiss that.

You’re absolutely right that the term “lifetime” carried weight, and many users feel that trust was broken. We’ve never pretended this would sit well — and we’re not claiming to be the “good guys.” We’ve explained what happened not to seek sympathy, but to provide the facts:

We purchased the infrastructure and brand in an asset-only deal — not the company entity, and not the contracts or payment records. No LTD customer data or funds were included, and we legally didn’t assume the liabilities. Still, we chose to keep those accounts running for two more years at our expense — not to delay backlash, but to avoid immediate disruption while we tried to rebuild the service.

We understand that from your side, it may look like a calculated betrayal. We can only say that wasn’t the intent — and we haven’t hidden from the fallout. We’ve responded to every single message, email, and review, knowing full well that most wouldn’t accept our explanation.

You’re free to walk away — and if we’ve lost your trust, we accept that. But this wasn’t a scam, and it wasn’t done lightly. It was a messy, difficult decision made by a very small team trying to save a product — not exploit its users.

Stopped Working out of the blue. When Checking around there was absolutely no information, no update on the website, no email. 2 Years later they popped out of the blue saying that they bought a company 2 years ago and never knew about lifetime deals. This is not how it works. When you buy a company you buy everything. They simply lie to customers that it was not a good profit-making solution whereas the Flippa listing showed a healthy monthly profit rate. Very bad business and outright gaslighting and malpractice. Will never trust of buy anything from them.

You're right that things seemed to go dark, and that was a mistake on our part. Still, we chose to keep those accounts active for two more years, fully at our own cost.

The Flippa listing did show revenue, but it was based on monthly subscribers — not Lifetime users. We didn’t receive a single cent from any LTD purchase, and we weren’t legally given the rights or responsibilities for those past deals. That’s not gaslighting — that’s just what happened.

We understand why this feels infuriating — especially when the term “lifetime” carries weight.

But we didn’t “cancel because we didn’t know.” We inherited a service through an asset-only deal, without access to contracts, payment records, or even the legal entity that sold those Lifetime subscriptions. That doesn’t mean you have to like it — but it does mean we didn’t have the option to “honor” what we never received.

Still, we kept those accounts active for two more years at our own cost. Not because we had to — because we knew this would sting, and we tried to soften the blow. It clearly wasn’t enough, but we’re still here, owning it.

Very bad VPN with worse owners

I already forgotten about this VPN it stopped working a few years ago, never bothered to fix it, was a bad deal with bad service. Bought this at stacksocial, some things are good, some are bad but it kind of worked.
Not the first time it happened, PureVPN pulled the same trick, but service was decent and lasted 5 years, converted my account with several months in advance, a strong meh, 50 per 5 years is ok, no big deal, tried vpnsecure several times and it was spotty at best, not even worth the effort to fix it. I think I bought it for 30 or 40 I don't even remember but it was not worth it. Add more services and charge for them maybe? Add a plus option and keep the basic service? Even chatgpt knows this was a bad idea.
Either these guys entered a challenge to get as many 1 star reviews and if that is the case, congrats and keep the ball rolling, you are amazing at it and you won or the worst implementation to do a money grab.
Several mails to explain why they already breached the contract with you is bad enough that even if I already forgot about this guarantes a 1 star review. Most of the cancelled accounts already moved on because the service was bad, why annoy so many people and cancel inactive accounts? Some of your users are engineers, try a better explanation, it didn't make any sense. Time to capitulate and abandon the brand either way, not coming back after this. Posting this review just for being part of the meme and to clarify yes I owned a lifetime account bought in 2017, used it maybe 5 or 6 times. Using another lifetime VPN to post this review that actually works I have Windscribe, VPN unlimited and Ivacy, they might pull this trick someday, but nothing would be as epic crash as this,

Former lifetime member

Former lifetime member. Getting shut off abruptly was not a great way to introduce them as the new owners. The lifetime customers are suffering due to their oversight. I understand the former company didn't divulge that info, but you'd think they'd look at the numbers and users using their service and check it out. Their bs email asking for more money and adding what looks like a fake customer excited to pay more was irritating. The new owners offered a discounted plan for former lifetime members which really wasn't a discount at all. If it was, it isn't competitive. I really don't think they'll last much longer. My advice is to look around. You'll find better prices and service elsewhere.

We understand if you've moved on — but we’re not hiding or ignoring this. We’re here, answering every message, and doing our best to be transparent.
