An absolute joke of a company, do not use them, they offer you the lowest price ls for a reason but then when you return the vehicle they try and find as much fault as possible to charge you $150 cleaning fee for a little bit of rubbish which would’ve took them two minutes to clean up

Once we arrived at the collection point from the shuttle everything went super-fast and very easy. The initial collection shuttle point from the airport could have been described better but all in all we were in the general area so not that big a deal. I had done the pre collect online upload information request which they sent me, I absolutely recommend doing this as it makes it way smoother. We were handed the keys quickly and the host took us to our vehicle and retreated back into the office. I would be a little wary as we didn't have a walk around the vehicle and photos taken of current damage or paint scrapings etc that could have potentially been a factor once we returned the vehicle. We had no issue when we dropped the vehicle off and everything went well, so it is more of a safety net for the consumer to document things prior to leaving the pickup lot. Make sure you fill it up before you return it! I paid $1.69 a litre but they charge $4.40 so be smart and do it yourself. I get that they have to send someone out specifically to do this because you were too lazy to do it! So fair and reasonable!

All in all, I would highly recommend using Alpha again as I will also look at using them as well!

Prices are always something to look at as there are a lot of other options.

Landed in Gold Coast Airport.
Called the Alpha Office number as instructed in their website / booking platform. Nobody answered, just a pre recorded message saying where to go to. Fine.
Found the transfer waiting area to the left of the arrivals area outside easy enough.

Airport pick up via Alpha transit bus went fine initially, until we were about to step on to the bus and was told we had to wait whilst another family of 6 people got on first as they had called the depot before us…. Ok.

They were offered full assistance in loading their cases - to be expected of course.

Then, after waiting out of the way of the ‘priority passengers’ like medieval peasants scrounging for a bowl of soup, my family was informed that we could also get on, there was enough space. How lovely.

The driver went to check that the other family had everything they needed, and were comfortable, whilst I was pointed dismissively to the rear of the bus to self load 3 large cases whilst trying to prevent my young son from running out into the road. Wooossaaahhh

Arrived at the depot / car pick up office which was less than 10 mins away, and once again was ignored and kept waiting for over an hour whilst everybody else got seen to. Even new arrivals got seen to before us.

Feeling a touch ‘annoyed’ at this point and with a now restless and fed up child, convincing myself that I surely don’t have leprosy or maybe an anti-social looking face, I decided to chase up the issue with the desk staff directly once again and plead that we get our car ASAP, as booked.

We were informed that our car was being refuelled, as the previous users had not refilled it before drop off. Ideal ! We continued to wait … and fail at calming down a hot and flustered child.

The ‘fabled’ car arrived 20 mins later, the booster seat was thrown in the back seat, but only after confirming twice that we had paid for it !

As we departed the scene of frustration, with a sense of relief, I could feel within the first 10 mins of a 30 min trip to the hotel that the car was not ‘right’. Suffering from some sort of engine or transmission issue, it stuttered and struggled repeatedly. The Engine light flashed on and off….. But the highlight was narrowly avoiding getting crushed by a large freight truck as the car lost power just as we pulled out of a junction!

We were closer to the hotel at this point than the depot so limped into the car park and got my family safe in to the room.

I immediately called the front desk team at the Alpha depot to inform them of what had happened, and requested a replacement car that preferably wouldn’t kill us. With most well known companies this would have initiated an instant apology, and they would usually send a driver in a replacement car to swap out with the faulty car. Job done…..

BUT - we were informed by a young lady at the front desk that WE would have to drive it back to the depot, even though it was dangerous and unroadworthy and also was reminded to bring it back with a full tank !
We had literally just picked it up 40 mins before ! The lady we spoke to had a significantly ‘negative’ attitude and offered no other option than this except to call the RAAC if the car was not fit for use. Helpful advice !

Finally, since we needed the car immediately, I bit my lip, swallowed my pride and drove (stuttered and stalled) the dangerous vehicle back to the depot myself, leaving my family at the hotel to decompress.

I did get a replacement car reluctantly, which was waiting for me when I pulled up and everything was fine thereafter.

No apologies in general. No apologies for having to waste the first few hours of a 5 day trip messing around with an unroadworthy vehicle. No apologies about almost being wiped out by a truck due to the car being unfit for road use.

For the record, the guy from Alpha who had just refuelled the car prior to giving it to us MUST have noticed that it was faulty ! It could barely move without coughing and stuttering.

Our experience overall ? Terrible!

Cold and unhelpful attitude from the front desk staff and very dangerous advice to drive the car back to them, with a Full Tank of course! Don’t you DARE forget that !

This significantly soured our first day of a well earned vacation at the beautiful Gold Coast. We will NEVER use Alpha Car Hire again!

TRUST ME - it’s better to pay slightly more with one of the more ‘well-known’ companies who are right there at the arrivals area of the airport, to just have the piece of mind and support if it goes wrong and most likely will offer a much more efficient service from start to finish…. In addition to providing you with safer cars and instant problem solving if required. A positive and friendly attitude when dealing with customers goes a long way also !

I hope this review saves the reader / readers from the same experience and DIABOLICAL start to an otherwise lovely vacation, like we had :)

Da vi ankom, kunne man mærke på personalet, at det eneste, de ventede på, var at få fri igen. Mens vi var der, var personalet oppe og skændes med hinanden, hvilket virkede meget uprofessionelt.

Under den tid, vi havde bilen, havde jeg nogle spørgsmål, som jeg ringede ind for at spørge om. Under samtalen fik personalet i den anden ende mig til at føle mig dum, og samtalen endte næsten med, at de bare lagde røret på uden videre.

Samlet set vil jeg ikke anbefale dette sted, hvis du regner med et firma, hvor du får bare den mindste behandling og service af personalet.

The service was fantastic, the staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The shuttle was quick and efficient, wasted no time getting to and from the airport. In fact we would have had to travel further with the luggage to get an onsite car hire centre.

Great prices, car is exactly what you book. Easy to find and access location. Staff are friendly, quick and efficient and both pickup and return were a breeze. Shuttles are regular and staff friendly.
I have tended to use car hire places that are located on site at the airport to avoid the extra hassle with shuttles etc, however with the new airport setup I find Alpha much much much easier to locate and deal with than some of the bigger name companies.... and much cheaper. Cars are still neat, tidy and clean. I have used them and few times now and can't fault them in any way.

We had a confirmed car rental booking with Alpha Car Hire Gold Coast through Booking.com. Our flight from New Zealand was delayed, and despite trying multiple times to call Alpha, no one answered. Our flight details and contact information were provided at the time of booking.

We arrived at the airport around 9:30 pm and only then discovered the office had closed at 9:00 pm. We were left stranded with no transport and had to book last-minute accommodation and pay for an Uber.

The next morning, Alpha told us over the phone that we could still collect the car. However, when we arrived in person, we were informed that Alpha had cancelled our booking the night before without notifying us. Staff then claimed they did not have our contact details, which makes no sense given the booking was made through Booking.com.

As a result, we had no car, were out of pocket over $800 plus extra expenses, and had to book another rental at double the price. This was an extremely disappointing and stressful start to a holiday planned six months in advance.

I would not recommend Alpha Car Hire Gold Coast due to poor communication, lack of accountability, and unacceptable customer service.

I booked and paid for a car online. When I arrived at their Brisbane office they wanted an additional $230 on top of what I was quoted and paid. The supervisor said he will speak with the manager, he came back and said I still needed to pay an additional $125.00. I asked to speak with the manager, the supervisor said he has left. He lied directly to my face, how can you trust a company when their senior staff doesn’t tell the truth. In the end I had to pay for the additional amount or they would not give me the car. The other issue is pick up from the airport. On the phone I was informed 5 to 20 minutes, they turned up 35 minutes later. This is a scam company do not use them.

Overall fast, friendly and efficient service! Great vehicle, competitively priced! User-friendly check-in App, done en route between airport and depot! Return customers since 2018.

The shuttle was fantastic and very easy, we didn’t have to wait at all. The car was great, very easy to pick up and drop off and there was no problem when I called half way through asking to extend my booking. A great experience

All the staff I met were great - friendly and really helpful. Our car seat wouldn’t reach the anchor points in the car we were given. No problem - the staff member grabbed an extension and we were on our way.

Overall a very positive experience. Again.

We had a very positive experience with Alpha Carhire. It was easy to find the shuttle to take us from Sydney Domestic Airport to their office and the return trip was just as fast. The car was very clean and economical with petrol.
