Following the discovery of years of unnoticed damp on a cavity insulated wall, built up from a neighbours garden way above our damp course, a chimney leak badly repaired last September, now leaking from all the wet weather and a free quote to solve with only a 10 year guarantee costing thousands. We started to feel we were just throwing good money after bad, and if went with that survey and quote, the damp would just come back and likely worse.
We found Damp Detectives scrolling through the internet. Videos watched and all they advised on their website, made sense to get a proper paid survey, that in the right hands would get the work needed done, to eradicate the damp and not just mask it for a while.
Tim called, appointment made
easily. Arrived on time and did a thorough survey of our chimney and wall. He was knowledeable, professional, understanding and helpful with his advice on what we do and don't need to do.
With Tim's survey the right tradesperson, should now be able to quote only for what needs to be done and hopefully save us thousands.

Wiltshire: Darren Horn was excellent, planned a visit very quickly, spent 2.5 hours at the house with Robert checking out various patches of damp and gave me some useful, practical advice for improving the house's ventilation generally and ahead of some building work. I will definitely consider using the service again.

Jonathan provided a great service identifying the likely cause of the damp/musty smell problem in our apartment. I found the survey and findings actually really interesting and helpful in order to improve and rectify my home and answer some questions on a few issues I was having locating the causes. Jonathan and Michelle at Damp Detectives were very professional and took me through each part of the survey work step by step. The follow up report was received very quickly after the survey work was undertaken, which is much appreciated to support our damp issue.

After having a damp survey done around 18 months ago we've had nothing but issues based on the poor advice given in the report.

We were told a damp proof injection would sort our wall, proved to not be the case and after having another damp survey found out this would never have addressed the rising damp without taking the wall back to brick and a membrane put in.

Also told damp marks on ceiling were caused by mice/rats wee. Again totally wrong. Work needed doing on roof which was only discovered when getting another person over. Problem would have been smaller if found initially.

All we have had since the report has been issue after issue that surely should have been picked up by professional damp surveyors. We've also wasted more money than we should have on the remidial work and the initial survey.

Scott came back to our house a year after our initial consultation to help us with an ongoing issue, and was incredibly helpful and thorough. He gave us really practical tips to help us work through the problem, and was very detailed and knowledgeable. He also did all of this follow up free of charge, which was so unexpected. Fantastic service and really helpful! Thank you!

Excellent to get a better understanding of the property and the likely causes of issues, and to be provided with some good pointers about how to fix the problems. no scare-mongering, no teeth-sucking. They're not trying to get further work, they're just providing objective facts. Would highly recommend.

Jonny was fantastic: he looks at the house holistically, taking into account how it is meant to work (it was built in 1840) and finds all the causes for damp coming into the house, which can then be sorted. It's the way it should be done; none of the usual, expensive 'you need to damp proof it' sales pitch. He has saved us money and ensured that our house will be dry forever more. Cheers mate.

I was told by text message that a Damp Detective (name of person who sent the ) would call at such a time at such a date. He did not turn up. I phoned to see if he was just late and I was told he had not got me noted down. Wasted my afternoon waiting. Complete disaster. Went somewhere else. William Allsopp
