Trelawne Manor, Looe, Cornwall

I went to Trelawne Manor in Looe, Cornwall with my family. The site was pretty and I recommend visiting for a quick family getaway for a weekend. The caravan we stayed in was spotless and overall nice. Though the site itself could use a spruce up in some areas. The mini golf course could use some repair, as parts of the different courses are worn out and broken. The food they serve is pretty decent, but the service is terrible. We waited around an hour for our food and half of the things we had ordered didn't even come when they brought out our food. My sister had ordered a kids meal burger and a side of mozzarella sticks and only her side of mozzarella sticks were brought out. When we asked the waiter he said he had to check with the chef meaning the chef hadn't even started cooking the kids burger meal so we had to wait another half an hour for the actual main meal as well as my loaded chips that weren't ready. My dad was very disappointed with the service so he spoke to the deputy manager who offered a refund. But the waiter who served our food was lovely, and kept apologising for the bad service. My dad and sister went swimming there too, but the outdoor pool was shut because it was raining which is stupid in my opinion because you are gonna get wet anyway😂 Some of the staff are lazy, the service is dissapointing, and the site could use some repair. But overal had a nice time. Would come back - But not bother with the food again. And the lady who works at the shop on site was lovely.

Weeks stay St Ives Holiday Village 30th may-6th June 2025.

My partner, myself and a small dog went to St Ives Holiday Village near St Ives. Long drive from Leeds. 7-8 hours because of traffic. When we arrived we were booked in straight away. The Park looks great. Loads of trees and walk ways. Its a nice park. Went up to our lodge numbers were not on all the lodges but only took us about 10 minutes to work out where our lodge was. It looked brand new. We booked a 1 bedroom micro lodge with Hot tub. Hot tub was well placed with fencing around for privacy. When we went into the lodge it was lovely. A big kitchen area. Big bedroom but the downsides were: This lodge is for 2-4 persons and only had 1 small wardrobe. Not enough for 4 people. Not enough for 1 person really. They had a dressing table with mirror which could have been replaced with another wardrobe or make them into a double. We never tried the restaurant because we cooked or went out for meals.
The club is ok but not on the size of Haven sites but staff were friendly and pleasant and worked their socks off. The games room with the slot machines and other machines were a let down with nearly all of the machines out of order and a lot of the machines never had any tickets in them all week. They run bingo every night at 7.30 pm. Not every ones cup of tea but we had a couple of games and managed to win £180 between us so happy with that. Entertainment is ok with a hypnotist singer and a comedian/magician on 3 of the nights. I would go back but not in the same accommodation.

Excellent staff and service. Will continue to stay

I have stayed here quite a few times recently with my elderly mother. The accommodation has always been brilliant and everything taken care of promptly. Staff are all friendly and extremely helpful. A small incident took place and staff dealt with it professionally ensuring everyone was safe and heard
Excellent experience everytime I’ve stayed from the accommodations to the entertainment and food. Would definitely continue to visit everytime I’m in the area

Absolutely amazing experience

Absolutely amazing experience, Toby and Christina done really well with customer service and handling difficult situations, very well priced, lovely accommodations, stunning park to walk around, a great nightlife entertainment and delicious food in the restaurant! Stayed here for work and would definitely stay again 10/10

No need for fake 1 star reviews

Stayed at st ives multiple times over the past 3/4 weeks and have enjoyed every moment of it. The staff are brilliant, site and the accommodation is good and well priced. Was an incident a couple of weeks ago with some working men and a couple of women. The staff and management handled the situation extremely well ensuring all parties involved were okay. I suppose if I was drinking white wine all day on a Tuesday I would get abit brave to workmen too. Would stay again 100%

Failure to refund the money

I booked a holiday with John Fowler near St. IVES, when I arrived there was a problem, they were short staffed.
Because of the aggressive behaviour of an employee, I accepted a refund.
This refund l was told I would receive in 5 days, that was over 5weeks ago,and still no refund.
If John Fowler treat there staff the way I have been treated, no wonder they are short staffed.
Every time I phone John Fowler they have a different excuse for there Failure to refund the money they owe me.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN

A worker/resident harassed and shouted at me during my stay, and I had to leave early because of this. This happened on the second night of our stay. Management did nothing to remove him from the site, only offering to have someone walk us back to our holiday home safely. Nothing was done to address the situation, and we were so scared that we had no choice but to leave early. If you're a young woman staying with an elderly mother, this is not the place to stay – it’s very unsafe. Very disappointing experience.

My husband and I have been going down…

My husband and I have been going down to st ives holiday village in st ives Cornwall for over twenty years with our children and our children now take their children down there for their holiday , this year my husband and I booked to go on 10 th May . But on that morning I had to phone an ambulance as my husband as he was in heart failure. I messaged the holiday village and send we couldn’t come down as my husband was very ill . I asked if we could change our date or maybe get some money back they said no if I had let know sooner they maybe could have helped . Unfortunately I didn’t know I would have to get an ambulance that day . Both my husband and I are very disappointed with this holiday company as we have been loyal customers for over twenty years .

Very disappointed with company.

My wife and I booked a 4 night stay at sandy glade holiday park, we have been before and enjoyed our stay so we booked again.
On the day we were going my wife had a heart attack 2.30am that morning and was rushed to hospital. I contacted sandy glade holiday park who were quite compationate but said I had to call head office, which I did explaining what had happened and explained we could go maybe late in season as we didn't mind? I was told its against there policy to do so and we would loose our money? The reason for this review is not the money? but the complete lack of compation with such a personal matter? I would not recommend such a non compationate company to any one , so I would like others to know before you book. many thank for your time to read.

South bay holiday site, Brixham

Stayed at South bay last week, lovely caravan spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Lovely site just next to the coastal path into Brixham, an approx walk of 30 mins downhill, but with a regular 2 bus services stopping at the site on their regular route if you want to avoid the walk back, or £6 approx for a taxi. We didn't go to the club house entertainment but did have 1 meal there, good quality and reasonable prices. We stayed outside of school holidays and site was very peaceful. First caravan holiday for approx 15 years but would do it again. Staff we spoke to were friendly and efficient.

Bliss!!!

Another absolutely stunning 2 weeks in this gorgeous haven. We book to come here every year for 2 weeks and it genuinely is our little piece of heaven on Earth. We stay in a platinum lodge and every morning love seeing and feeding our squirrel visitors. The staff are absolutely amazing from the friendly shop staff to the maintenance (especially the "chalet" gent, you know who you are) from the brilliant stripy team to the swimming staff, the bar staff to the cleaners. A HUGE thank you to Christina the amazing manager who has always made us feel welcome and like friends returning and also to the fantastic gentleman who works in the pool area, I am not sure what his name is (he said he was from near Mexico), he was there when we did the Zorbs though and we spoke to him about our twins and he was so helpful!! There was also an older lady in the pool staff who was amazing, friendly and helpful who was there last year too so also a shout out to her!! Speaking of which our twin boys have autism and they have come along leaps and bounds here, starting with just staying in our beautiful lodge to now Ryder loving the pool and Hunter asking for the entertainment every night (Freddy, Trixie and Kenny were amazing and patient with him coming on stage so thank you to those of the stripy team who did that). Genuinely not a single negative to say about this amazing place. It is always so clean, they make amazing social media posts which are a huge help when it comes to children with additional needs who need to know the layout of places, go above and beyond to help. The lodge is absolutely stunning and has been since 3 years ago but Christina and her team have put new carpet and more in this year which made it even more stunning!!! The whole time we were there it was so lovely and peaceful at nights where we could here the birds including owls and woodpeckers and we loved seeing the squirrels and rabbits. They have a beautiful woodland walk with a park which Ryder absolutely loved going to daily!! Love the fact that the boys could play in front of the lodge safely as there was so much green safe space for them to run around. This is a holiday where we don't care if it rains or shines as there is so much to do from parks to the pool and water activities to the entertainment, beautiful surrounding area and so much more although I did love lounging in the sun and reading on the decking while watching the squirrels!! This is the type of place that I really could talk about for hours but if you are looking for a beautiful family park filled with things to do, stunning accommodation, amazing staff and loads of things for the kids this is the place to go!! In regards to cost after doing plenty of research it beats the other big camps by far with one costing approx. £800 for a week in a silver caravan with more of a balcony to decking whereas we paid less than £1400 for 2 weeks in a stunning huge platinum lodge. This place is our home from home and we will keep coming every year, if we could come more we would but sadly with my eldest in secondary school now it just isn't possible. Thank you so much to Christina, the stripys, bar staff, shop staff, pool staff, cleaners and maintenance for a stunning holiday and we cannot wait to see you next year!!!

The reception team were very helpful as…

The reception team were very helpful as were the bar staff , the entertainment team are amazing especially Heather, however what let’s it down is the not so clean accommodation found numerous cobwebs, radiator had tea splashes over it 😡 and the mirrors were so smeared I had to clean them myself, the food in the restaurant was fabulous however the floor had the same food on it for 3 of the 5 days we were there sadly won’t be coming back

Combe martin beach

Arrived and caravan was better than expected so we thought we were given a better caravan than expected but no this was the correct one. Exceptional clean ,showing sign of age but expected that in a dog friendly silver caravan, site very clean and staff very friendly small restaurant/bar/games room with wonderful views

Rat infested accommodation!

We stayed in St Ives John Fowler park on 14/04/25. We had to request a refund and check out the next day due to rat infestation in the accommodation!
The place we stayed in was dirty and smelt of damp.
We had to ask for it to be cleaned again.
When we went to bed we heard rodents scratching and scrabbling about in the walls/inside the roof all night.
Manager was informed only to be told it was squirrels and its to be expected because we were near trees. Manager sent a maintenance man down to look in the loft/roof and he told us he saw rats.
We left with a full refund.
Entertainment at the club house was good, food was poor.
Unable to book swimming, water activities or crafts as all fully booked for the whole week on our arrival.

Worst holiday park experience

Booked gold for an earlier check in and the holiday park was quaint and hilly as advertised on website. Having been to several John Fowler holiday parks as a family I thought this would deliver to expectations. Wrong. I checked in and the stench of smoking hit me throughout the caravan. The bin was also 3/4 full with food items and smoked cigarettes. The cleaners had attempted to mask this with febreeze air fresheners potted around. I then waited around for over an hour for the helpful lady on the desk to swap for another caravan. It was cleaner and newer model, looking at site photos it was a silver caravan so we were downgraded even when I asked and it was confirmed as a gold caravan. The access was good for mobility issues and very clean. When settling down for the evening at 9pm, attempted to pull out sofa bed which did not exist. Back to customer services the next day after sleeping on the sofa cushions. The response was are you sure there is no bed? They said we could transfer again but after the upheaval and unpacking with a disabled child and adult I was exhausted. I requested someone come and look to make sure I had completely missed a whole sofa bed. The lady also stated if I didn’t want to move again maybe use a folded duvet on top of sofa to make it more comfortable. I requested to speak to manager but wasn’t directed to him so I gave up at this point. Maintenance guy came and confirmed no sofa bed. He did suggest a new mattress and put that over the wooden base. He was very helpful and that partially solved the issue, although not very comfortable or the advertised sofa bed in my booking. I emailed John fowler whilst there and was told the email was forwarded to the manager and he would be in contact as they wanted the issues resolved whilst on site. No communication was made. To top it off when stripping the beds I found dried n chewing gum on my sons pillow. He was autism and PICA (eating non food items) he would’ve tried to eat this if he had found it, gross! have logged all of this as a formal complaint and I am awaiting response from the complaints team. Disappointed to say the least and has left a very tarnished impression of John Fowler

Disgruntled …

The answer is john fowler should be honest, constructive, and helpful. When we booked nightly entertainment wasincluded, but when we arrived there wasn't entertainment for 2 nights, as we had booked a 4 night break, that was a huge impact on our enjoyment as we are not very mobile and has always enjoyed entertainment here.. all staff were brilliant.

Booked a platinum van

Booked a platinum van, which was to include an ensuite in Master bedroom, and other things listed included microwave, bench outside etc. Entered the van, no en-suite, so head to office, thinking we have a gold or silver van. No, it's platinum, and the lady seemed surprised that it didn't have an ensuite, said she would move us, but they had nothing available, they were full. No microwave fitted, and no bench either. We contacted head office, they claim we were offered an alternative van and refused it, that was not true. They also claimed that some of these vans that they are charging for ensuite etc, do not in fact have an en-suite, or microwave or bench. I looked back and studied their literature, and alongside en-suite there is a miniscule asterisk, but nowhere could I find an expiation of this, they need to make it abundantly clear that although you'll be paying and expecting an en-suite, you might not get one.
We were invaded by flies, they did put 2 "bombs" inside whilst we were out, but we spent the next 2 days picking up dead flies. Settled down to watch the rugby international, no TV, sitewide problem, off for the rest of our stay.
Compensation offered was an upgrade if/when we book again, which I understand returning customers get anyway. ;-)
This was Cardigan site, and have to say the site is very good, very clean, the staff we met were all very pleasant, and we eat in a few times, food was excellent as well. So if you go and get what you paid for, got no flies, no TV problems, you'll have a great stay. Enjoy!

Update Mail. The lack of microwave was an "oversight", the bench ".there had been a delay in a delivery of new benches" and the mail finishes with
"I am sorry you do not feel the free of charge upgrade that you have been offered to be adequate. Unfortunately we will not be offering anything further than this. We are sorry this stay did not meet your expectations on this occasion but we have ensured this has been raised with all of the relevant teams."

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service. Will never use this company again. After an issue with a booking, the customer service team were hostile and unpleasant. When I asked for contact of a supervisor/management I was not allowed this information and told my only option was to write an actual letter to head office. Having critical illness in the family this was difficult to find the time, but I did it, and wrote a 2 page letter indicating my grievances as well as the poor customer service, and sent it recorded delivery. I have never received a response to this letter, and on top of the endless emails and disinterested people on the phone means I will never use this company again. The shame of it all is it started as a family business, and I used to be a loyal customer but have never known such indifference to both these facts.
