Arrived on a flight, got in and had to wait hours to get through border control for non-EU Passengers- only 3/10 booths open, didn’t open more til after an hour of waiting. Management seems poor and employees don’t seem to care.

No notification prior to arriving however, arrived 2 hours before our flight! Absolutely stunned to see the meters and meters if passengers queuing, we arrived at 10.30am. Our gate closed at 12.20 and we only just made it. Our flight was half empty because of passengers getting stuck in the queue. The staff are incompetent and rude. More concerned about “ stand behind a yellow line “‘rather then get the queue moving. If i owned a business in the terminal I would be demanding my rent back! No passengers whatsoever in the shops/cafes because of the complete and utter shambles. Never will I fly out of Cologne again!

Very poor experience, long queue, unfriendly staff, made me through away my new cosmetics which was 125 ml, which was ok in all other airports before. Don't travel through this airport

I would have given a “zero” rating if I could. Poor signage; few staff; discovered at the “fast track” security ( which was not fast) that liquids had to be separated into a plastic bag ( despite my checking beforehand that they had the CT scanners, which they indicated on their website they had had installed); then a ridiculously long queue at passport control just before the gate, filled with distraught Turkish travellers who were about to miss their flight having been kept waiting for so long. Fortunately we were early and the delays did not compromise our travel. Arriving was equally awful with another long passport queue. We did the online photo and fingerprinting, then waited in a long queue to do it again - not sure why. Awful!

Passport control and security are the worst I have ever experienced they are just rude and un caring.

We have businesses in Bonn but want take customers there any more because of terrible airport

Wir hatten im Parkhaus 2 für 10 Tage einen Parkplatz für 150,- € gebucht. Dies ist schon eine stattliche Summe. Leider hatten wir im Ausland einen familiären Notfall und mussten die Parkzeit um drei Tage verlängern. Eine Umbuchung/Verlängerung war aber nach Antritt der Parkzeit nicht möglich, so dass wir für drei weitere Tage noch einmal 141,- € bezahlen mussten. Insgesamt haben wir für 13 Tage fast 300,- € bezahlt.
Da nehme ich mir doch das nächste Mal lieber ein Taxi oder buche einen externen Parkplatz.

Der Flughafen Köln ist immer ein Erlebnis, besonders die Gepäckausgabe dauert oft länger als ein innerdeutscher Flug! Bravo an die Verantwortlichen!

Worst airport ever. It’s one of the only airports that still maintains the rule of all of your liquids entering one 1L bag, and the staff is horribly rude. The 1L bags are also not provided until you get in front of the trays, and you have to ask for them. Extremely rude and disrespectful security staff.

Abzocke!!! 10€ fürs zweitemal durchfahren (nicht geparkt!!!)? Finde unverschämt und nur noch abzocke!!!

Worst airport! I fly between London and CGN or FRA every weekend. The stuff is extremely slow, inefficient and rude

Wir waren Silvester 2025/26 im Flughafen Köln/Bonn und ich bedanke mich ganz herzlich, dass wir mit unseren Hunden die Räumlichkeiten besuchen durften, um schallgeschützt ins neue Jahr Feiern zu können. Großartige Aktion, auch an Rewe und an ZooRoyal ein Riesen Dankeschön.

Wir sind in den Winterferien über Köln/Bonn nach Italien geflogen. Wegen Umbauarbeiten war die Schlange am Gate zwar sehr lang, aber wir haben nicht länger gewartet als an anderen Flughäfen auch.
Richtig nette Geste seitens des Flughafens war, dass ein Zauberkünstler engagiert wurde, um den wartenden Familien die Wartezeit zu versüßen. Für uns war es das erste aber nicht das letzte mal hier.

45 Minuten für die Sicherheitskontrolle gewartet, alles voll, Toiletten gesperrt- gibts hier eigentlich ein Management??

Ich komme mehrmals im Jahr an diesem Flughafen an und starte dort auch wieder. Die Organisation wird von mal zu mal schlechter! Ich dachte immer, München ist schlecht organisiert aber Köln schießt den Vogel ab.....bei Ankunft und Abflug!

Rückflug 24.12 (EW 581) aus Mallorca.

Leider haben wir am 24.12 sehr schlechte Erfahrungen mit der Gepäckausgabe beim Köln-Bonner Flughafen gemacht. Anscheinend sind hier die Mitarbeiter an diesem Feiertag sehr unmotiviert oder sauer zu Arbeit erschienen, um dann Luft abzulassen an fremden Koffern, denn unsere beiden Koffer (einer davon nagelneu) haben wir nach Ankunft an diesem Flughafen von aussen völlig verdreckt, an mehreren Stellen stark verkratzt und beschädigt in Empfang genommen.
Wie asozial ist das denn?? Eine absolute Frechheit.

Der Aufenthalt im Security Bereich beim Hinflug am 19.12 dauerte im Vergleich zu anderen Flughäfen viel zu lange (ca. 40min/Vergleich zum Rückflug aus Mallorca 7min). Kein Wunder, denn jeder
3. Schalter/Durchgang war nicht besetzt, das wenige Personal (extern?) war zum Teil völlig überfordert und demzufolge auch sehr unfreundlich.
Der Flughafen macht auch nicht gerade einen sauberen und einladenden Eindruck aber für eine Flasche Wasser 0.5L 3,50 € verlangen, am Flughafen Mallorca 1,50 € für den gleichen Inhalt an jeder Ecke.

If there was a zero star option I would give it. Arrived at the airport at 1630 for a 1950 departure and because of the horrendous queues at security and passport control got to the gate at 1915 as it was closing at 1920 hrs. We had a twenty minute comfort break to grab some food but the rest of the time was spent queuing. Tensions were high at passport control because so many people were on the final call for their flights. Staff were useless and people were pushing into the queue which was making the situation worse. No organisation what so ever, three cubicles only working at passport control and then to top it all a last minute gate change which was only discovered because someone happened to look at the board when everyone was at the previous gate. No announcements made either . The airport seems spacious but I will avoid using it again because of this experience. I have travelled for many years and have never ever been close to missing my flight but this was far too close for comfort.

Rude, Aggressive, incompetent and disorganised AVOID flying in or out of this airport at all costs. Having travelled the world the Germans are rude and aggressive and purposely make life at this airport a nightmare for people even to the point where they make them miss their flights with the most incompetent border security team I have ever come across.

SO FEW STAFF, HUGE QUEUES, NO ONE ABOUT TO ASK QUESTIONS OF. A MODEL OF GERMAN INEFFICUENCY. WOULD NOT RETURN TO COLOGNE BECAUSE OF IT.

The absolute worst airport. Badly managed, extremely rude and slow staff, people missing flights due to security long queues. Puts people off visiting Cologne again.

Things have changed here! Almost no more homeless people taking up the seats of the travellers (there’s still this blond lady yelling stuff I don’t understand). Nice solution regarding the bottles with caution. Security became professional. More restaurants… Way to go!
