It was a very professional service. Mia was very helpful and managed to fit my service on the day. She gave great customer service and was very knowledgeable about the work that was done. It was also very prompt, and the whole booking in process very smooth.

I have been dealing with this MG garage for the past 6 years. Today was the first time I have written a review. I was greeted warmly & professionally by Mia. I could see that Mia and her colleague have the front desk run like a well oiled machine. Mia is an asset to this garage. Very good communicator (in the past although friendly, communication skills have always been lacking with other staff members which can lead to frustration) I had excellent service. Very pleased. Thank you Mia & team.

I never imagined I would still be dealing with this months later.

I bought my MG ZS EV Trophy in January 2025 for £23,050. Since then, I have experienced repeated failures of the vehicle’s rapid charging system, leaving me stranded hundreds of miles from home on multiple occasions.

The timeline so far:

• Barnsley – the car would not rapid charge despite multiple attempts across several chargers.

• Peterborough Services – the car failed to charge again and had to be recovered.

• Paignton – stranded at 8pm in pouring rain with my two young children after the same charging fault occurred. The AA attended and cleared fault codes to get us moving again.

• Further breakdowns followed, leading me to formally reject the vehicle and begin preparing legal action.

Following intervention from management, I agreed to pause court action when I was promised a courtesy car and told they would get to the bottom of the problem.

My vehicle then spent more than 3 weeks with the dealership, where a new module was fitted. I was hopeful that the issue had finally been resolved.

For the last 2 weeks, the car appeared to be working normally.

Today, the fault returned.

The vehicle is once again refusing to charge and displaying multiple error messages. Following previous advice, I tried multiple chargers, but the result was the same. The battery is now showing 0 miles remaining.

When I contacted the dealership this morning, I was asked if I could bring the vehicle in on Wednesday.

The problem is simple: the vehicle has 0 miles remaining and will not charge.

How exactly am I supposed to bring it in?

At this point, my frustration is not just with the fault itself. Modern vehicles can develop faults. What matters is how customers are supported when those faults occur. In my opinion, I have not been supported one bit by MG Basildon. Wesley Thorne is the only person who has tried his utmost hardest to help me but even he experienced set backs due to incompetent people at MG Basildon.

I have spent months dealing with breakdowns, recoveries, diagnostics, repairs, promises of resolution and continued uncertainty about whether my vehicle will actually get me where I need to go.

Their own sales and service manager sat me down when I refused my vehicle and the sales manager, Tony, said I really don’t know how to fix your problem, if I give you a replacement you will experience the same fault! He was blaming the public chargers, so don’t buy an MG electric if you plan to use a public charger at any point! As per their sales manager said, it won’t charge! It will be unreliable!

I am sharing this because consumers deserve to know what ownership can look like when things go wrong, and because no family should be repeatedly left stranded due to an unresolved fault.

This was our 3rd visit and our 3rd time meeting Ross, who was very patient.. never pushy.. answered all our questions. .. and this time we bought a car!!

I dropped of my car on monday 11th .mia greeted me with professional attitude but kindness, i got car but should of had bit more petrol in the borrowed car but in fairness mia told me bout this , i got a call today to say car was on ramp and will call when complete . She called me told me car was done i went there and explained what was done ect .i very happy with her service . Her kindness and great attitude towards me as a customer . It was very rewarding for me to see a young lady working hard at her job in my opinion deserves a reward for the efforts on front desk ..

Mia and Ellie were amazing when dropping my car off and collecting it from a service. They explained things really well and were patient with me and my questions
Only downside is that since the service I now have an error come up " service required immediately" which is a known fault and no fix in place to remove and will have to wait for a fix to be put in place! The error was not there prior to the service

Came down today for my service staff was very helpful (mia and ellie) very considerate and courteous. Cannot fault them thankyou
