Excellent and entertaining guided visit of Pompeii

It was great!
We did the colosseum tour and the Vatican tour. Both tour guides were very knowledgeable. From knowledge about the history and significance of what we were seeing, to knowing where the closest restrooms and fountains were. It was a great way to introduce ourselves to Rome, and thus Italy.

I can't remember the name of our tour guide but she was fantastic! She clearly knew what she was talking about and really made the Colosseum and Roman Forum come to life. My sister, aunt and I were grateful for the opportunity to hear authentic Roman history from an expert archeologist. Well worth every penny!

Most professional, engaging, and rewarding! My wife and I booked two different tours, VaticanMuseums/SistineChapel and Colloseo/Forum. For VM/SC, tour guide, Ferdinando, was expert and gave most scholarly explanations, and more impressive, deep perspective, beyond imaginable expectation. For C/F, tour guide, Angelica, gave animated and passionate descriptions, never a dull moment. Both tours, we were most satisfied with such professional guidance. Definitely will book additional tours with "Walks of Italy".

The Walking Tour I experienced with Walks of Italy was one of the most enjoyable tours I've ever had. Our Guide, of a small group of about 10 persons, was great - very knowledgeable and amusing. It was a 3 hour tour of some of the great Piazzas of Rome, four of the most fascinating and historic fountains, the Parthenon, the Vicus Caprarius (underground Water City), the Spanish Steps and some of the best Gelato in Rome. I had already done some extensive walking leading up to this Tour and I was exhausted afterwards but it was so worth it!

The meetup instructions were nice and clear, and getting setup for our tour was very quick and easy. The fact that we didn't have to buy our own tickets made things even easier!

Our guide was very informative with an art for story telling, which made the experience really come alive. It takes some skill to make what looks like rubble come alive. There were several times along the tour that we paused so that questions could be asked and photos taken. We covered so much and never felt like we were being rushed.

"Complete Vatican" was purported to be a 3.5 hour tour. Our guide was Guido, who said he was an historian; he was knowledgeable. I realize there is some need to "move with the herd" as you go through the Vatican museums, but I felt we were more rushed than necessary. After a couple of hours, maybe a little more, Guido began to complain about how tired he was (I'd estimate his age to be ~late 60s), and he was sure we were tired too (like if he ended the tour early, he'd be doing us a favor). We spent no time in St. Peters Square, no commentary. He spent very little time with us once we got inside St. Peters. No mention of Bernini's canopy. When the tour ended, not even three hours had passed. I felt shortchanged. Guido compared poorly to what people said about other tour guides in reviews on Walks' website.

I did two outstanding tours with Walks in Rome - the early morning Pristine Sistine with Anna and the Gladiators Gate Coliseum tour with Kylie. They went waaaay beyond simply “knowledgeable”: both were truly insightful, passionate, amusing, and brought history and characters to vibrant life. If I could give them each eleventy stars out of five, I would. I can’t imagine a better tour experience at either the Coliseum or Vatican - 10/10.

The guide was very well informed and read the group well.
Of course the historical site was awesome and she did a wonderful job of guiding us through it.

One star only because I can’t give zero. Despite the name and description of the tour, this tour does not get you into the Vatican museums before opening. Once meeting with your guide, you will walk to the group tour line outside the museum entrance and will stand there until opening at 8. Once going through security, our guide immediately let the whole group go on a 15 minute bathroom break which seemed quite unnecessary and a waste of time at the beginning of the tour. Once the tour actually started (close to 8:30), many groups and individuals had gone ahead into the museums and there was already congestion forming. It felt as if our guide was purposely wasting time. For example, we spent quite a bit of time outside at the pine cone and at each exhibit. Again, our guide was taking so long at the initial exhibits that groups and individuals were easily passing us. For a tour that was supposed to prioritize the “pristine” nature of the Sistine chapel, there was no sense of urgency to get there early, as I was lead to believe with the name and description of the tour.
My husband and I became so frustrated with the pacing of our tour guide that we turned in our headset and continued on ourselves. Looking back, I am quite glad we did this. When we arrived at the Sistine chapel, we were able to sit and enjoy the art uninterrupted. By the time we left 20-30 minutes later, it was quite full and much less enjoyable. Leaving the tour was the best decision we made that day. This tour was easily our biggest regret of our trip.

The guide was knowledgeable and professional. She kept the group moving by focusing on the most important works of art & manuevering through the crowds so we could make the most of our time. She explained things in a way that everyone could follow, giving us all a mini- art history lesson. The guides make all the difference!

Thank you for following up and asking why we were dissatisfied with our experience. I am outlining the details below so there is no misunderstanding as to why this tour was unacceptable.

After spending approximately $1,000 USD on your Key Masters Vatican tour in 2024, my daughter and I had high expectations for your Amalfi–Pompeii day trip in 2025. Visiting Amalfi was the primary reason we booked this tour. Because of its importance, we contacted your company every single day prior to departure to confirm that the itinerary would, in fact, include Amalfi. Each time, we were explicitly told by your representatives that we were going to Amalfi.

We intentionally selected Monday, June 16, 2025 to avoid weekend congestion and crowds. Despite this, our booking was changed without my consent to a Sorrento itinerary. I immediately called to have this corrected and was once again reassured that we were “for sure” going to Amalfi.

On the day of the tour, after visiting Pompeii, we were informed upon boarding the van that we would no longer be going to Amalfi due to a traffic jam and that it would “take all day” to clear. I checked Google Maps in real time and saw that the traffic issue cleared within approximately one hour. This explanation was inconsistent with the information available and directly contradicted the repeated confirmations we had received. At that point, the diversion to Sorrento felt misleading and inappropriate, given that we paid specifically for an Amalfi itinerary.

When I expressed our dissatisfaction and requested a refund—because we were promised Amalfi, paid for Amalfi, and relied on multiple confirmations that we were going there—our concerns were dismissed. We did not receive a refund, not even a partial one, despite the tour materially differing from what was sold to us.

This experience was extremely disappointing and reflects poor business practices. We spent a significant amount of money and did not receive the experience that was advertised or repeatedly confirmed. Compounding this frustration was the dismissive manner in which our concerns were handled when we raised them, including when we stated at the time that this situation was not acceptable.

At this point, unless this matter is properly addressed, we will be leaving detailed reviews on your website, Google, and TripAdvisor to warn other travelers of our experience. Given the amount of money spent, the lack of any refund, and the way our concerns were handled, we believe it is important for future customers to be fully informed.

We would still welcome a fair resolution, but the dissatisfaction stems directly from misrepresentation of the itinerary and the failure to address the issue appropriately once raised.

This was an excellent tour of the Vatican. The guide was engaging, extremely knowledgeable and quite patient with the group. She was a pleasure to spend almost 4 hours with. I was overwhelmed by the time we finished.
I wished that we had more time to go into the grotto and maybe a little less time spent in the museums. Also a map or information on getting back to our starting point would have helped. It was difficult to get a taxi/uber on our own and we overpaid greatly!!

The only issue I have with the company is their description of early entry Vatican City tour! It is very misleading as other participants also discussed within our tour group! In short, it needs to be updated!

The tour guide was Florentine, which was awesome! It was cold and rainy during our tour, so he had us wait out the rain in an abbey where we were the only tourists, which was really neat. He was also great at helping us know how to navigate through the city on our own.

It was a great tour and Silvia is a very qualified and professional guide. She provided both very specific and technical information but also emotional details that made the experience unique and very impactful.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing Leonardo´s masterpiece in all its depth and also to gain more context and information around the city and about the main cathedral.

We booked the Key Master Tour at the Vatican Museuns and it was the best experience we've ever had in a museum. The tour is very exclusive and the guide, Sara, was perfect. She not only knew what she was talking about, but also knew how to explain all that information. I fully recommend Walks of Italy and the Key Master Tour.
