Our 1st cruise with the No.1 P & O

Our 1st fly cruise and we are so glad we chose P & O. For us there was nothing not to like from the ship Azura, the excellent staff, cabin, food and entertainment. Amazing value for all that we got.
Go again sir, indeed we've just booked our next cruise for 2027 and with P & O of course.

Excellent in parts but poor value for money in other parts

Entertainment
Headliners shows were really disappointing, not because of the quality but because they’re old and we’ve seen them too many times – didn’t bother on this cruise. P&O are trying to get repeat business but keep offering the same old same old. And the cast must be fed up too. Come on! Partly empty theatres must give you a clue! Please give us some new shows. We also need some new aerial shows in the Skydome. Schhh is still rubbish, apart from the aerial bits.

The quality of visiting performers was mainly good. Vinnie Mckee, Siobhan Phillips, Tom Vaughan and The Voxens were all good. The others not so much – and, like the Headliner shows, they were the same old same old and we didn’t bother. I’m afraid that the entertainment attractions of a cruise are losing their magnetism.

The Iona orchestra was excellent throughout, as usual.

Once again there were lots of rude passengers in the theatre who walked out as the acts are still performing. We suggest the visiting acts stop announcing their last song and you close the curtains as soon as the acts finish. And what’s the point of the entertainment staff telling a rapidly emptying theatre what else is happening that night?

710 musicians didn’t fail to impress us with their music – exceptional. Thanks Ryan, Connor, Phil and Louis. And Maddie was an excellent busker and her shows in the 710 Club were brilliant. 
We can’t really see the reasoning behind the system for booking the 710 Club. Maybe because people couldn’t get a place? It’s a small venue and there will always be people that are disappointed that they didn’t get in but that’s the way it is. As fed back several times before, you could easily put in more tables and chairs, and remove the useless semi-circular benches to provide for more people without ruining the intimate atmosphere. 

Why oh why are you still insisting on using the Sky Dome for musicians and singers? They must hate it as much as the audience! It’s not the best place to perform anyway as it’s a swimming pool, thoroughfare, has the worst acoustics possible and has very limited decent seating. And please remind the sound crew that increasing the volume doesn’t fix rubbish acoustics (we did try to see Pulse there but our ears hurt so we didn’t stay). 

Staff
Staff great, friendly and smiling.
Cleanliness around the ship excellent. The toilets were always spotless. 

Food
Olive Grove continues to give good service and we enjoy eating there. Food is always good. 

MDR menu is good although we don’t understand why steak and chicken are available every night but salmon isn’t. Food was consistently good and waiters were friendly, attentive and very efficient. Staff at the desk were always friendly and efficient too. 

Ports
We were extremely disappointed that the usual shuttle buses were no longer available in Arrecife and Lisbon. Another cost cutting exercise? Does this mean the end of shuttle buses at all ports? Also another select price benefit removed. 

Shops, radio, My Holiday
Clothes in shop now have men and women clothes in all areas which is somewhat confusing but we were pleased to see some larger ladies sizes for sale this time. 

Playlist on radio is still too short and advertising increasingly irrelevant and pointless as the cruise progresses. 
The My Holiday portal isn’t impressive and could be so much better. And the TV My Holiday info was often outdated and contradicted the My Holiday web pages.
Can the MDR evening menu be put on My Holiday too so that guests can decide where they wish to eat more easily? The scrolling menus outside the dining rooms are frustrating rather than useful.
As previously, we’re more than fed up with the same crosswords and Sudoku being repeated for so many years. Surely it isn’t too difficult to change them once in a while! Similarly with the morning silent challenge – it’s no challenge if you’ve done them before!

Cabin clean and comfortable. Cabin steward Mo was excellent.

Absolutely atrocious customer service

Absolutely atrocious customer service. Made a booking for two cabins, one for my in laws who live in Australia. Impossible to link the bookings without getting my father in law to call them to do this, even though this was agreed through the booking agent. Can't book anything on shore for the 4 of us. P&O refuse to help...

Fabulous customer service

Had to call the P&O call centre this morning. Got through in record time and spoke to ‘Summer’ who was Amazing! So friendly and very helpful with my requests! Excited about my upcoming cruise after speaking to Summer! Thank you 🤩

Enjoyment

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and had a fantastic time overall. The ship, destinations, and the opportunity to relax and unwind made it a very memorable experience. One of the highlights was meeting many new people and making new friends along the way, which added greatly to the enjoyment of the trip.

However, as with many things in life at the moment, the costs do seem to be increasing. In particular, the bar prices were quite expensive, which did make us think twice before ordering drinks at times. Similarly, the cost of WiFi on board felt rather high, especially given how important it is nowadays for keeping in touch with family and friends back home.

That said, these points didn’t take away from what was otherwise a very enjoyable holiday. The atmosphere on board was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we made some wonderful memories during the trip.

Overall, we had a great time and would certainly consider booking another cruise again in the near future.

Just come back from a 14 nights…

Just come back from a 14 nights canaries cruises on Iona. The whole experience was fantastic. I would definitely recommend P&O if you want a cruise holiday

Refreshing suprise

We were unsure what to expect as our first time on such a big ship .
We found it easy enough to navigate after a few days. We never took a lift so got plenty of stairs and steps in .
We loved the friendliness of all the staff and the cleanliness of the whole ship.
The crew worked hard to keep the ship looking so good.
Food and entertainment was excellent.

Great holiday on board Arvia

Azura is a beautiful ship

Azura is a beautiful ship. Just the right size for me. Her public rooms are very clean and well kept. The staff are helpful and friendly, apart from one of the Future Cruises staff, who turned out to be rather inflexible and curt. I really wanted to book another cruise whilst on board but was put off by the attitude of this particular member of staff. The food in the Oriental restaurant was lovely and the service from our waiters was very good. The food in the buffet was OK but nothing to write home about. I didn't think the choice was that good. Our balcony cabin was clean and spacious, although the bathroom was a little dated. It still had a shower CURTAIN rather than glass doors, and the shower tray had cracks in it. The quality of the bedding, although clean, was not good. It was very old and worn and was ripped in parts. This really needs to be renewed. However, apart from these few niggles we had a wonderful cruise, although the weather was a little disappointing. I am a seasoned P&O cruiser and would definitely continue cruising with them.

Great cruise round the Canaries on Azura

Just back from a cruise round the Canaries on Azura.
Easy to book the holiday
Great customer service on board
Embarking and disembarking was a breeze.
Superior deluxe cabin was spacious and very clean
Plenty of choice of activities on board although the evening shows could do with a refresh and greater variety
It was possible to walk into all the towns from the ship and the time in port was excellent
We booked one P&O excursion to Teide National Park. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Just be aware that you will need warm clothing - there were still some patches of snow on the ground!

Amazing

Overall the first cruise experience was totally amazing. I definitely want to go again. P and o staff are fantastic. So polite and professional. The azura is beautiful and could not have wished for anything better. Food was delicious, ship was spotless and staff so friendly and helpful. People hogging sun loungers and chairs on sail days is a problem but that's human behaviour I guess, nothing to do with the ship or p and o. I loved loved loved it

Highly recommended trip to the Canaries …

My 5th cruise and it was a great experience. A very slick operation. Great entertainment and lots to do on Iona. Only problems were lifts being out of order leading to grumpy passengers ! Other than that I would highly recommend a trip to the Canaries.

Incredible service food let's it down

Incredible service and overall experience. My only slight negative was the food on-board. There was a huge choice but some (not all) of the choices we're very bland, this was mainly the desserts.

Recently back from Canaries on Iona

Recently back from Canaries on Iona. Beautiful ship, The crew are the stars really, 99% are a credit to P&O, special mention to Sneha and Naresh in the Emerald bar and Antonio and Prince in the Pearl restaurant. The guest entertainment was brilliant, Vinnie McKee and Siobhan Phillips we’re excellent, there needs to be some fresh shows in the Headliners for the P&O entertainment team, if you travel regularly on Arvia and Iona you will
