Simploo mini. Waited 6 weeks to arrive and been using it a couple of months now.

It’s essentially two very expensive 3D printed buckets in a bigger bucket with a toilet seat and a fan.

The pee pot leaks out the “lid” sides and even the smallest amount will splash out during a drive in the camper. you’ll go to empty it and find the bottom of the main bucket is full of pee even after a single use. So you get covered in pee and it drips everywhere. Then you have to clean up all the pee, which for us means unbolting it from the floor to empty or use a full roll of kitchen roll and antibacterial wipes.

Either that or as other people have said, it could be that it’s not designed well for women and my wife has been missing without realising.

The pee alarm doesn’t appear to work either. I’ve heard it once and never since even when it was practically overflowing (and pee was seeping out the sides of the badly sealed lid section)

Also, don’t believe anyone who tells you that the carbon filters mean that the solids won’t smell… because they do, the filter doesn’t do anything other than cost you more money on your plastic throne. The draft on your cheeks is at least pleasant. Used once for solids… never again.

Overall we’re hugely disappointed and wish we had just bought a far cheaper, proven and properly sealed porta-potti. Waste of money.

Had an issue with our Simploo Mini. From contacting Kate at Simploo we were given an immediate resolution.

The customer service at this company is exemplary and other companies should take note. If you are in the market for this type of item I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them.

We love our Simploo so much we've bought two now! We started off with the Simploo Original in our Campervan and loved it. A few upgrades like directing the pee would have made it better.
Therefore for our new van build we have gone for the Simploo Mini as it does exactly that. It also has a bigger pee capacity and a built in pee alarm (as our first one broke).

Communication has with the company has been nothing but nice and they even 3d printed us a spare pee bottle for our Simploo Mini (on request)!

i had trouble with a plastic defect and crack on the hinge of my loo .On contacting Simploo i was very pleased that they sent me a replacement I am delighted both with their response and how they dealt with my problem Well done

Pretty good overall, I like it. Some of the parts could be better made as mentioned in other reviews, for example the trap door for the solids just slides around as there is nothing to hold it in place. I think I would make my own next time but didn't have the time. A lot of people complaining about price but considering cost of other major brands of composting toilets this is relatively cheap. It looks good and overall I love the concept.

Update: Simploo broke down so badly after less than a year and a half we had to replace it.

(1) The main lid broke off.
(2) The inner lid closing solids broke off.
(3) Ventilator is broken.
(4) Leggs collapsed and broke off.
(5) The main body then cracked and collapsed, leaving a gaping hole at the bottom.

I honestly don't know what to say other than...buy the cheapest, cheapest Chinese crap you can find. It is GUARANTEED to be better than Simploo.

PS: Zero chance their positive reviews claiming the product is working amazingly after 18 months are real. Zero. What a dodgy company….

I am 51 years old and have never regretted a purchase as much as I regret buying a Simploo. On top of the fact that all there is to it is a plastic bucket and a few self-printed 3D components, for over £500, I'd expect electricity wires to be encased rather than dangling off the side of the loo. The ventilation consists of a cheap computer fan that keeps on breaking. The same goes for the sensor - it keeps breaking down - I have had it replaced 4 times.

It's grotesque. I am furious.

I have had my Simploo for 4 years now, in a Shepherds Hut. It’s a joy. Doesn’t smell at all / easy to clean / wonderful and extremely helpful after sales service. The product seems to be evolving and the design is “tweaked” occasionally which is great. 👍👍👍

The customer service is good and the toilet was delivered in a timely fashion back in August of 2020.

Unfortunately, after a few months, the 3D printed orange components started to fail. This is because the plastic is brittle. An O-ring holding the handle together failed, resulting in the urine container dropping to the ground. Luckily the lid was on.

In the base of the loo are more 3d printed tracks to keep the bucket in position. The screws used are not stainless steel and have rusted.

Originally I thought the unit was made of plastic but it appears that it's aluminium that's been painted white. I discovered this fact because the paint is flaking off on the inside.

The top lid is plastic but shows a lot of hairline scratches despite nothing having ever been put on it.

Considering the cost of these toilets it's a lot to be going wrong with them after a few years usage.

I like the concept of a compost toilet, but I'm going to make my own, to a higher standard.

As a whole, I absolutely love the simploo. It is a delight compared to a casette.

Well, until the quality of the handle on the urine pot is so poor that on more than one occasion the pot has slipped off the pot itself, fell from my hands, dropped onto the floor and soaked me in urine. This is not acceptable, especially when it costs around £500.

I am highly disappointed.

The first occasion this happened my partner and I emailed of which you very kindly responded that you would send us a 'new version' of the handles. The handles you sent were exactly the same. This product is bad quality and not worth the price tag.

The issue was not solved and therefore I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy. Nobody deserves a urine shower.

We got this to replace our sea toilet on our live aboard boat.
I have to admit that I was sceptical about using one of these full time on board but we are very impressed with the ease of use, especially emptying it.
There are no smells and after the heatwave in the UK summer 2022 I was expecting some odour but it has been totally free of odour, the small but efficient fan doing it’s job.
We change the bag of solid waste once a week, again, much better than anticipated.
If you’re thinking about getting one of these and are a little hesitant, don’t be, it’s fantastic and great communication from Simploo of any questions.

Fantastic product, looks very neat in bathroom on our narrowboat, much better than pump out or cassette type loos. so much easier to manage.
The customer service is fantastic, we lost one of hte components and after a vert professional phone call with Kate, the component was sent the same day and received less than 24 hours after my request - at no extra charge! We need another look for our 2nd bathroom on the boat and will definitely be using Simploo!

Excellent product and company. Had a Couple of minor issues and both sorted immediately and without charge.

We use the Simploo composting toilet on our houseboat. The unit itself is well-built and pretty sturdy. Only issue we've had with the build is that the bolts that connect seat and lid to the unit didn't last very long before coming loose. Nevertheless, it's easy to clean and works perfectly well. More than that, I recently had to order a replacement liquid bottle because the handle snapped off (we've been using the loo for over a year now). I mentioned in an email to Sales that we also needed a replacement sliding cover for the bin, but couldn't see where to buy one on the site. Simploo dispatched not only the replacement bottle, but sliding cover, replacement bin lid, and replacement handle to attach to the previous container. I might have given 4 stars on account of the seat/lid coming loose, but the customer service has been so good that it seemed like too low a rating.

Customer service was excellent and the loo is amazing, not sure why I waited so long to get one.

They went above and beyond without me even asking. Great product, absolutely no issues... Though I trust that if there were, they'd be sorted as soon as possible. Great company! A pleasure to communicate with.
