Instable license schemes
Some time back WHMCS changed their license scheme from owned licenses with yearly support renewals to periodic schemes that suddenly became too expensive for me. I used WHMCS without updates for couple years and recently they offered a 2 year discount scheme for people in my situation. I was always happy with WHMCS but when this discount ends it will be unaffordable for me again. I hope that soon FOSSBILL will have become stable and functional enough for me.
using WHMCS since 2017
While I need to take a tecnical decision that would impact company, wasn't 100% confident, due to risks, whmcs support were able to provide answer with confident, allowing me to move forward giving me more oportunities to grow from now and preparing for next years much better.
WHMCS Review
I'm quite satisfied with the overall performance and flexibility that WHMCS allows for with third-party applications.
Buyer Beware, Price increase
I've recently been notified of an impending price increase for the Plus license that I'm presently using. At the moment, it's set at $18.95, but it's set to rise to $24.95. I'm unsure of the rationale behind this decision, but it appears rather unjustified. Such a price hike has the potential to negatively impact multiple fledgling businesses, including my own. This seems highly unreasonable, and I may have to consider switching to an alternative service provider after this. Thank you, WHMCS.

Great Support Team
Submitted a ticket on Friday night an thought "Oh No its the weekend, there will be no response". Although the issue was not resolved sooner I cannot say how happy I was with support communicating with me all weekend. They replied to all of my tickets and willing to help each time.
Resource-hungry but robust self-hosted billing
I am small business in server hosting industry and opted to WHMCS because low license fee and wide variety of integrations and enormous community.
I should note that WHMCS has long history and thus can be considered robust, however I also noted one important issue.
The issue I am referring to is performance - given that WHMCS is proprietary and how little there is information on technical specifics, I am unable to provide any information on why WHMCS is slow, however I am sure there is plenty of things to optimize.
I have already reached technical support on that issue, but they do not see any issue in performance ratio of 10-20 requests per second for unauthenticated user querying root page...
So, I think that WHMCS will best suite you if you are a small business, but as you grow (and your jealous competitors), you should consider developing own solution, as it is really hard to protect WHMCS from severe DDoS attacks.

Next to a great programm they also provide excelent support.
Nothing else to add to this!
Removing support for Owned licensesâŠ
Removing support for Owned licenses (which we'd fully paid for) was dishonest and significantly damaged our associations with the WHMCS brand.

Great software and great support!
Rug pulled
What's the point of an "owned" license if a company unilaterally decides to withhold security updates? I know some lackey at WHMCS will reply and make some sly mention at how many years ago the purchase was, but lifetime means LIFETIME. I don't expect to be entitled to free support and updates, but outright removing the option to buy support and updates at any price is shameful.
Adding insult to injury, they have the audacity to send out an email "inviting" me to trade in my owned license for a month-to-month license for a discount, and that discount is even limited-time.

WHMCS ããã®åç
Buyer Beware that since they wereâŠ
Buyer Beware that since they were purchased recently they decided to not honor all the customers they duped into buying owned licenses. They claim those licenses are still active, but have made it so you cannot get security updates making the product unusable. Their latest slight to customers is trying to convert their owned licenses to a monthly rented license that is no longer unlimited clients as the purchase agreements stated. So our licenses we paid for and helped keep the company afloat are essentially useless at this point unless you want to violate all PCI compliance.

WHMCS ããã®åç
This company is a disgrace
This company is a disgrace. Like other reviewers here I also purchased a lifetime 'owned' license - only to be told now that I am no longer entitled to updates.
I do not understand how a company can think it is OK to offer a lifetime deal, take your money and then end the deal a few years later.
Thanks for your response to my review - I'm afraid your copy / paste explanations are fooling nobody.

Unable to support upgrades with oldâŠ
[UPDATED in response to WHMCS reply]
We all know that answering the tickets even in a timely manner do not mean that it is resolved. The reason why we are providing a feedback here is because we aren't satisfied with your answers (yes, we can't even call it a "support" as it does not help with our specific concern and because you are leaving our business hanging which can hurt us really bad). You forced us to subscribe to your scheme but you don't provide us enough support to migrate properly. We are even willing to pay for the migration. As for the details you were asking, we opened 3-4 tickets explaining the details of the same concern with different dates from last year because we hoped to get a different support staff that can help us or say if you have a change of heart. Our business has been running for many years and is now experiencing difficulties due to your unfair scheme. At least, if you want us to subscribe which we are very much willing to (to be fair and you can improve the platform), help us properly migrate.
________________________
Unable to support upgrades with old versions that has manual processes. They only provided a tool which does not really help in some scenarios. And when we explained the matter and asked for help since they are the subject matter experts, they refused. We are even willing to pay just to help us migrate properly. This is really disappointing. They indirectly forced us to subscribe and then when we are ready to subscribe they won't bother helping. We also asked for solutions because perhaps we can get a 3rd party that can do it for us, but we got nothing from them. It is undeniable that WHMCS is by far the best software for this business but not the best support you can get. It is best that you get away from this software because sooner or later, new schemes will be forced to you and they will leave you hanging which can potentially destroy your operation hence the business.

Horrendous capitalist greed and lack of escalation
EDIT: 28 July 2023
It seems the escalation to John is starting to bear some fruit. It also appears I missed a critical message from Lawrence where he told me he's log a new issue with their development team about this issue.
So for the most part, I'm extracting what I wrote here. The issue isn't resolved, but for the most part it seems WHMCS is taking this issue more serious now and perhaps wanting to help me too.
Lawrence Technical Analyst II that works at WHMCS.com's help desk is symptomatic of someone senior sitting behind a keyboard completely out of touch with reality and their clients.
The word customer service has long since been forgotten and because of their so-called seniority they are also not willing to escalate, because you know, they are always right.
Since they are so clever and "high" up in the rankings, if the reply doesn't take 1 minute to resolve it's not worth giving good service.
The backstory is I have an ongoing issue with WHMCS.com since 2019 when they first ripped me of to charge me $40 for a simple CURL timeout in the Virtualmin module. I have 5 servers and all servers work except a busy server that goes beyond the 300 seconds they've allocated for the task to complete. In fact, that server takes 360 seconds. I've spend many man days trying to resolve this problem myself. Eventually after isolating it I pointed it out to them on a silver platter by way of a bug report that there is something wrong, how to reproduce, etc.
In total I have wasted so much of my own time on this, risked a lot of lost income, and even gently at first, and more aggressively later, informed WHMCS that something is wrong. That it's bad business practice to charge a long standing customer this ludicrous amount for such a simple change which essentially boils down to a bug. That I can't afford to do it every time there is an upgrade.
What's further symptomatic about these senior guys is their special inability to see a long standing customer. On multiple occasions (I count at least three), I have ask this Lawrence to escalate my call and report that I am unhappy to keep on paying $40 every few years because of their problem. Instead of Lawrence listening to me, he ignores my requests for escalation time and time again.
I guess his attitude is "well you've been using our product since 2007 so you're hooked in anyway" or something along those lines.
Lawrence is the epitome of capitalism and customer service gone wrong. It's how companies who have clients for a long time instead of respecting it disrespects it and shunts you with a new invoice. You can't grow with these companies because they use the time you've been with them against you to rip you off.
PATHETIC, and hopefully not symptomatic of the whole of the WEBPROS group.
Lawrence, learn to escalate buddy. If you are too important or too busy to escalate to Matt, I will have no problem escalating to the WEBPROS shareholders and the internet.
EDIT: One John Kipling head of support contacted me offering me an old 7.4 module which I paid for years ago as a compromise. John Kipling seems to have the same poor attitude (and lack of knowledge of PHP EOL) as the rest of the business.
I'll carry on escalating till someone there or in the holding company see what's going on here. What a joke.
***BEWARE***
***BEWARE*** I have been using WHMCS for 13 years and have been very happy with the results, UNTILL out of the blue they pulled the plug on support and updates for lifetime licenses, leaving my website open to security breaches and forcing early supporters of WHMCS to find alternative software or pay again. WHMCS answer to this is that they offer a new pricing plan that offers updates and support or we can keep using the software. The fact is without updates the software is useless and open to security breaches.
LIFETIME means LIFETIME

WHMCS made a believer out of me!
I have used countless solutions to manage my hosting services, but I landed on you one day some time ago.
I must express that you have convinced me that they are a company that genuinely cares about the opinions of the peasants regarding your services and the quality of your products.
any company to sell a "Lifetime"âŠ
any company to sell a "Lifetime" license and then jerk it out from under you with a "just eat it" response is no company worth my money.
Edit: WHMCS tried to have my review removed to make themselves look better. What a disgrace!
