They are scammers. We paid a holding fee for a property to move on the 12th. They told us no on the 10th and kept our money £279. It is clearly a tactic they use since agency fees are gone.

You let people pay a holding fee then tell them no and keep their money.

Please don’t go for them. Scammers

Great service from the team at Allen & Harris Irvine with our recent property purchase. Special mention to Janice crookston for finding us the right property and to Jamie Stewart for getting us a great deal on our mortgage and a product that met our exact needs.

I would tell anyone to avoid Allen & Harris like the plague. I commissioned the Swindon team to sell my house based on a high valuation which they promptly told me to reduce almost straight away. They barely got me any viewings and no offers in the whole five months I was on the market with them. They were not marketing it to the right people (corroborated by the fact that as soon as I switched estate agent it was sold in the first weekend) and I would always have to chase them for any feedback on the few viewings they did book. Also watch out for the small print…you are tied into a five month initial period.

It felt like selling my house meant nothing to them and because they were in a flat rate they just kept telling me to reduce the price without putting appropriate effort in to selling it. Not good.

I tried to contact them to view a cottage, left a message but no response. Later, spoke to 2 people (one the manager) who both promised to call back with an appointment and didn't. In desperation, I traced the owner and wrote to him. Possibly as a result I was called 3 days later and offered an appointment 2 weeks after my initial approach.
Subsequently made an offer of full price but 24 hours later got a call to say that off-road parking, which was included in their sales details, would be £5000 extra. "Oh, you should have been told that."
I shall never deal with this firm again, either to buy or sell - their 63% one star rating says it all.

We have sold our house with Allen and Harris Talbot Green Branch and also bought our new house with them. They have been very helpful and friendly throughout the process and have helped us overcome a few hiccups along the way. We mostly worked with Tom who had been fantastic and has always made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. Leanne has also been great and both have made us feel at ease with what can be a very stressful time. We cannot fault them and we have been really happy with all of their help :)

Ollie Jones and the team in the Wells branch were professional and efficient. Kept us up to date with our house sale at all times and pushed for information further down the chain even when things got tricky. I would certainly recommend using them.

Jack in the letting team was fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. He regularly communicated and was able to accommodate visits at short notice. Would recommend.

We have paid for all the required services, photos etc and are now into the second week since putting it with A & H. Our property has not gone live yet and I am seriously starting to wonder what the delay is all about. I fear that the market may change by the time my property does go live! We are having to call the office to find out where we are at with the sale!
We have now had 8 viewings resulting in one offer. Today by A&H staff that more viewings to take place today, One confirmed but several to follow. Waiting in all day no one turned up and we have left messages with A&H but no contact.
This seems to be a company that does not care about its customers or about the sale of your property. Would seriously advise going to another agent.
The final result of this matter is that A & H did not provide anywhere near the service that they promised, they totally failed with the exception of the signing up part. That was excellent. From there on it went downhill fast and we had viewers contacting us asking how they can speak with A & H. We then had people contact us via Facebook to see if they could attend for a viewing! This whole debacle was a serious failure in the provision of the promised services. As such we served a cease and desist notice on A & H and we still had another woman contact us to 'arrange viewings'. If you are thinking of selling your property we seriously advise that you give A & H a wide berth and go with another agency. I understand that Greig Residential provide a good service.

A&H had to deal with one of the most difficult, awkward and obtuse sellers ever, my ex-wife. Despite her offending most of the team, they stuck with it, through thick and thin, and pushed the sale over the line. They were always brilliant, friendly and professional with me. Big kudos to Charlotte and Michelle for putting up with the terrible treatment, you never gave up! Thank you so much!

Allen and Harris in Shawlands Glasgow has the worst customer service. Rude, aggressive and unhelpful receptionist who likes to hang up on people. Avoid this branch.

We were buying as first time buyers, we had no idea what we were meant to be doing and when. Our sale wasn't the easiest due to many complications from the developers, but Carly and the team really went above and beyond for us. I was able to call nearly every other day and they'd all be cheerful, tell me I am not a fool for constantly chasing, and just being absolutely lovely. I highly recommend Allen and Harris! Their customer service is on another level and they would bend over backwards if that would help the process move smoother.

I purchased a house with Allen and Harris. Michelle dealt with it all. She was very professional, a lovely lady. Polite and nothing was too much trouble. Sometimes I spoke to other staff in the office. They were all very pleasant to talk to, always answered anything. I would completely recommend going to Allen and Harris for all your needs to buy or sell a house.
The rental side is also great to deal with.

I payed the holding fee (£200) and after being accepted in the referencing, they kept asking me to pay in the deposit (£800) and the first month's rent (£900). This was before I even laid my eyes on the TA. I kept asking them when would we sign the TA and they kept asking me to pay in the mentioned moneys. I got the feeling that if I had payed the deposit and first month's rent, I would loose that money and would never get to move into the house. The general feeling I got was that they are crooks.

Is the worst experience ever , bad communication, manipulation, on the advertising was a no chain , after signing the contract and paying servy, lower ecc, I been told chain on hold , called 100 times no answer back , not at all serious, deserve minus star , avoid if you can ,con agency

Clifton, Bristol Branch - Sold themselves as a premium offering but their outputs (pictures, write ups, viewings) were below average. In Covid, you would have thought you'd show prospective buyers of a First Floor Flat the 3.5 acres of gardens that are included. Apparently not.

I changed agent but they refused to take the property off line and continued to market it after the contractual period was up.

I could write many more things. My advise, shop around for a better estate agent.

The Corsham branch have been absolutely amazing, selling our house and proactively supporting us in the dreaded “chain”.
Courtney has been an absolute 🌟, like a dog with a bone when faced with dealing with a shocking estate agent at the bottom of the chain, and an arrogant and useless solicitor in the middle! She was amazing in keeping the top of the chain fully informed and worked tirelessly and cohesively with estate agents to get the chain across the line.
Sarah and Beth have been fab too, always at the end of the phone to listen to our concerns and act accordingly.

IF IT WAS POSSIBLE I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS
Craig & the staff at Allen and Harris (Whitchurch) has given us the worst experience we've ever had when moving house. The move has taken over 6 months & still isn't completed. From day one they have lied to us about the purchasers & the price my house is worth. My whole family is suffering stress because of the blatant LIES FROM CRAIG
They emphatically said that:-
There Isn't a chain, YES THERE IS
The money is there as its a cash purchaser, NO ITS NOT, THEY WERE NEGOTIATING NEGOTIATING A MORTGAGE & SOMEONE FURTHER DOWN THE CHAIN ARE 1ST TIME BUYERS & THEY WERE APPLYING FOR MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT
They wanted to move in quickly, SO BASED ON THE ABOVE WE PUT OUR FURNITURE INTO STORAGE.
ALL THIS IS COSTING ME £THOUSANDS FOR STORAGE, MOVERS & SOLICITORS FEES.
I WOULDNT RECOMMEND ALLEN & HARRIS TO MY WORST ENEMY
We have now moved after 6 months of Craig at Allen & Harris messing us around.
In May 2021 I sent a check to their Head Office (Sequence UK Ltd), with all the information requested by Craig and they didn't bank it so it was returned.
On 7th June 2021 I then received an email from Craig at Allen & Harris to pass my bank card details & they would take the money, I did this over the phone to the Whitchurch office the same day.
Today 10th June 2021 I have received another email from Craig at Allen & Harris telling me that they can't put the payment through again and would i send another cheque to Head Office (Sequence UK Ltd) with again all the information or do a bank transfer through telephone banking, I asked to do this in the beginning but Craig at Allen & Harris refused my request & wouldn't give me the banking details, these details are now attached to this recent email.

Mark Winkworth in the central Bath branch was brilliant. Very patient and knowledgeable. Replied to all my questions promptly.
