Collected the doors today - great service from Colin - all went smoothly thank you

Wow. This review is in fact long overdue, and I apologise to Doors of Distinction for that. We had lots of problems with our XL Joinery internal doors, but Doors of Distinction (and XL) went so far out of their way to put things right that it was unbelievable. We are so pleased and so happy with the result. Thank you and good luck!

We have had a fantastic experience with the team at Doors of Distinction - with a special shout out to Colin in Customer Services. We have ordered a number of new doors for a property. We would highly recommend, and will definitely be using this company for future projects!

I have just ordered some doors with Colin who had been brilliant and incredibly helpful. Kirsty was also fantastic and really helped me pick out some doors. We have used doors of distinction before and I’m sure we will again.

After finally receiving our final ordered door, is time to review the shambles that was our order with Doors of Distinction. I'm always fair in reviews, so can't speak for others who have had a positive experience. Ours must have slipped through the net. Disclaimer - Claire, you were the one beacon of hope, surrounded by a sea of misery.

Ordered doors in good time as bespoke fire doors. Immediately after ordering, was told, "oh the price on the website was wrong, we can't actually do them for that price and now you owe us more money". £136.62 PLUS VAT PER DOOR. I'm a believer in using local smaller businesses, so with biting my tongue I proceeded - and paid what I thought I needed to.

Then, for some reason, our order ended up being split across two invoices. I thought I'd paid the balance, however Doors of Distinction did not, and didn't think to contact me to tell me so. Causing delay. Further delay happened where due to this invoicing shambles, more cost was added where the delivery fee had been duplicated.

I work full time and run a business, so spending my time having to correct invoices, and then get into a dispute about them (until Claire got involved and sorted at least the duplication of cost) was very infuriating.

One thing I found is that the company in the first instance were VERY quick in chasing you for the initial payment, but then once you had paid, went very quiet, without even so much of a recognition that they had received the large collection of funds.

After this first round, there then was a small balance left to pay (under £100) but noone told me until I chased asking where my third door was - as had only had two of the three doors I'd ordered. This has caused me having to pay twice for my builder to attend on two days.

On confronting them about this, there was no understanding or agreement, and a pay or no door approach. I felt very trapped as a customer.

Again, this is our experience - I'm sure it has gone smoother for others.

We use Doors of distinction regularly and have always found them professional and a great company to deal with.

This is our 3rd order of doors and Colin has been instrumental in identifying the best to suit our requirements

We bought in 2019 Qty 3 OWES33 Westminster - Double Glazed - Black Caming Dowel - External Laminated Oak 44mm doors with the Oak Effect Laminated External Frame Kits and solid oak wether bars - totalling over £1400+

We have an issue with the 3 doors which we reported on the 16th May 2024 - the doors are only an oak veneer they don't hold up to the weather well - and we used Sandolin to protect them (apparently not good enough for the actually suppliers of the doors LPD - not Doors of Distinction) BUT its not the doors but the sealed glass units that failed. All 3 windows displayed "fogging" which can be caused by leading not necessarily moisture. But of course DoD and LPD didn't really want to hear about that.

They advised on the 10th June, 2024 - it took them that long to hoping we got fed up having to fill in forms and supply photos - "When glazing units fail in this way, it is generally moisture managing to get into the outer edge of the glass. This could be as a result of moisture getting into the door as the beading in particular looks like it’s due some maintenance and the finish looks to be breaking down on the face of the door. LPD recommend external doors are maintained at least once a year.

We believe in this case that the issue presented is not a manufacturing fault, but is a result of moisture ingress due to the door not offering the required protection against the external elements.

We also do not believe the finishing product as used on these doors would provide our doors with the required protection in line with LPD's finishing guidelines. Although this is advertised as being microporous, this is not a high build product and is also quick drying, which is something LPD advise against using to prevent waterlogging.

For the reasons as stated above, we are unable to offer replacement doors / glazing units under LPD's warranty. "

after terrible experience with a different company I was really hesitant about placing an order, however I didn't have to worry, from placing the initial order over the phone to final delivery the service have been great. Highly recommend!

Good quality doors. Excellent customer service from Colin. Efficient and helpful delivery service direct from manufacturer. This was an improvement to my order in 2020 which was delivered by a contractor and some of the doors were damaged. So, would recommend asking for doors to come direct.

I can’t thank Colin enough for helping and advising me on the purchase of our fire door.
