Great friendly service from the moment we entered the Lowestoft Resturant through to when we left. Brilliant Service from Izzy.
Past the sell by date methinks
The food was all overcooked, possibly reheated and generally unappetising.
The salad bar looked lack lustre and what there was definitely past its best.
Hairy Bun
We arrived five minutes early and were seated promptly, which we appreciated. However, we were placed directly beside the entrance, where the constant breeze from outside made the seating uncomfortable. While we recognise this may be a design flaw, it nevertheless affected our experience from the outset.
Our drinks were brought quickly, and the waiter who served us was polite, patient, and helpful. He even checked on the availability of items not listed on the menu. Unfortunately, this highlighted a further issue: we were informed that lasagna is served at the restaurant, yet it does not appear on the menu and is apparently often unavailable for reasons unknown to staff. This inconsistency is both confusing and disappointing.
We were a table of six and placed our food order with only one requested amendment, which the waiter confirmed before leaving the table. We were then given salad bowls to use while waiting for our meals. This led to another frustration: the salad bar was repeatedly half empty. On three separate occasions, members of our group returned to find empty trays and had to locate staff to request refills.
When our meals arrived, , the only dish we had asked to amend was incorrect. We again had to walk around the restaurant to find a server, though the issue was resolved promptly once raised.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food overall was far below an acceptable standard. A few examples include:
* Chargrilled Chicken Flatbread – The chicken was slimy, the slaw wilted and unfresh, and the sage and onion sauce was unpleasant. Only the chips were edible.
* Mixed Grill – Contained noticeable gristle which was more than the edible meat.
* Three Mighty One Burgers – None included the advertised jalapeño sauce, and the cheese sauce amounted to less than a teaspoon.
Hoping to salvage the evening, we ordered three desserts. Two of the three were unacceptable. The lemon sundae arrived with melted whipped cream smeared on the side of the glass and melted ice cream. The most concerning issue, however, was discovering a hair in the choux bun custard.
This meal was intended to be a birthday celebration and cost £150. Given the catalogue of issues—from incorrect orders, poor food quality, and an inadequately maintained salad bar, to the serious hygiene concern—we left extremely disappointed.
Excellent Service
It's lovely to go into the Harvester in Bamford for Breakfast. Staff are so friendly, so polite, they're great members of your team. I don't even have to say what I would like for breakfast, Daniella knows what I have, she's a good un.

Oh harvester what have you done i had the 1983 classic. I died have u changed your recipes. All my life i saw those adverts I would beg my parents to take me. As a adult I finally ordered it when I found out I had cancer. One of my special indulgences ..I cant afford alot but now and then. My last meal as such. The meal I got last night was dry. And flavoulous ..this is devastating to because it stemmed from my childhood. Im still to poor to eat all the time. But now and then. So change back what u have done please. Because it used to be my luxury meal. Cos you have changed something. And the meal is in the bin now.Thx Samantha

Went to the havester today Saturday 7th February we booked a table for daughters birthday took long time for main meal to come then we decided to have a dessert we waited again then one came out waited again then 2 more came out then to wait again then one more came out then waited again and we eaten the desserts then the last 2 came out I know the waitress could see and she was frustrated too she did say sorry but I never experienced anything like this before why we couldn't have our desserts together bit disappointed and still paid full price the food was very nice it just the waiting time and that we couldn't eat all together

Bad Experience of Harvester, Gravesend

Decided to dine at this Harvester Branch on the 3/2/26, ordered the 10oz Rib Eye Steak with accompaniments and was presented with a piece of meat which was 60% Fat which was disappointing given the price of nearly £26.00 ! This isn’t the fault of the serving staff but issues with the kitchen staff who think serving up poor quality food to their customers is acceptable!
Having brought this matter to the attention of our server and requesting they feed back the complaint to the kitchen they decide to not charge for a desert, probably the least they could do but the meal was ruined by the main meal being sub standard.
Given this experience it’s doubtful we would return for a meal there, prices have increased which we understand but if they are charging higher prices the food and ingredients need to be of good quality and up to standard and on this occasion this establishment fell short.

Chesterfield Derby Road - poor management and customer service
We have been regular customers at our local Harvester (Chesterfield Derby Road) for over 10 years, but this visit was without question the worst experience we have ever had.
Despite it being a Friday evening and the end of the month, the restaurant was nowhere near as busy as we have previously seen it. Even so, we waited over one hour and twenty minutes for our food, having ordered only main courses. During this time, we were given no explanation, no updates, and no apology, despite asking staff for information.
Eventually, we had to actively seek out a member of staff for an update. The shift manager, Aaliyah, incorrectly told us our order had been placed at 6:40 pm, when it had actually been placed at 6:15 pm — a fact confirmed by our server. This raised serious concerns about the organisation and honesty of the management.
When we later complained, Aaliyah’s response was dismissive, argumentative, and completely lacking in basic customer service skills. Rather than apologising or showing understanding, she made excuses, attempted to deflect responsibility, and dismissed our concerns entirely. At no point did she demonstrate professionalism, accountability, or any effort to resolve the situation. Her attitude was unacceptable and made an already poor experience significantly worse.
Ironically, when our food eventually arrived, it was enjoyable, and our server was excellent throughout — apologetic, attentive, and clearly embarrassed by the situation. Unfortunately, one good staff member cannot compensate for ineffective management and poor communication.
What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that we have visited this restaurant many times over the years, including during busy periods, and have never encountered service this poor. A simple explanation and basic communication would have made a considerable difference. Instead, we were left ignored, misinformed, and treated dismissively.
Unless management standards and customer service training improve significantly, we would struggle to recommend this branch, which is a real shame given our previously positive experiences.

Montagu Arms is a our favourite meeting up place and has been for many years mainly due to its excellent staff team. The food never disappoints but the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff team are really to be commended. Kelly did an excellent job on our latest visit and it is really a pleasure to meet up at this Harvester - it is not our nearest by far but is in the middle of those of us that meet up and is always our first choice. Thank you Montagu Arms Team for making our visits such a pleasant experience - good food / drink is a welcome 2nd.

Cant even get past their payment screen, it's happened on phone, app and computer. not for the first time either. Do they not want my money or?
Pride park harvester AWFUL !!!
We went for breakfast for daughters birthday . Service was awful. The person that showed us to our seat took a drinks order. Nearly half hour later we had to find someone to ask them where our drinks were. He then took the drinks order again and food order.
Coffee and hot chocolate were cold but that's how it comes out of the machine apparently.
Food portions were small, bacon was very burnt, eggs overcooked. We sat and chatted for ages so one positive is we went rushed but had to ask for table to be cleared an hour after finishing food. Not one staff member smiled or was polite. Everything felt like it was too much trouble for them.
We told the staff clearing the table about the food drinks etc there was lots of uneaten food on the plates and coffee not drank, and they didn't seem interested . £67 wasted !!
Will not ever be going there again!

Cooked raw food chicken blood in it the compass is took down this post I put it back up situation not resolved investigating by environmental health.
We waited over an hour for our food, arrived at 6.50pm and was served at 8.10pm. Both meals arrived together unfortunately there was a problem with my partner's meal i.e. the chicken was raw, pink in colour. We complained, returning the meal, the team member stated the meal would be sorted. It was returned within 5 minutes but the original meal was sent back to us. The offending chicken had been re-cooked in a fryer, was greasy and still pink inside. Spoke to the manager as the problem had not been resolved and my partner refused the meal and refused to pay for it but he submitted his details in writing to be handed to the manager.
Subsequently I started to eat my ribs and chips but when I cut open my chicken it was also under cooked and bloody, photos available, also sent that back and refused to pay for any of the meals. Asked to speak to the manager again but she did not materialise.
My parter has reported this establishment to environmental health this morning. He is waiting to hear back from them. A thoroughly disappointing experience.
