Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, delivered office desk with missing parts, and other parts damaged!! Absolute disgrace of a company. Charged back with our bank and reported to the FCA.

Avoid

I have ordered an item that was advertised as available within a week. The company has delayed the delivery 3 times saying the item is on backorder. When they told me that delivery would not happen until the middle of January I have cancelled my order. They offered alternatives , however the specification of the alternatives offered were not even similar to the item originally ordered. Very bad customer service, not helpful at all.

If a product is out of stock directly from the manufacturer, there could be many reasons for this, which are often beyond our control - and if it isn't available for several weeks, we are very happy to find an alternative with a similar specification; which I understand isnt always going to work for everyone.

Appalling customer service

I ordered Nautilus Troon Leather Executive chair fully assembled. Chair arrived without the arms attached. I was then sent the bolts to attach them but found that the reason for the arms not being attached was because they had tried to attach them incorrectly and the bolts were stuck inside them. I was told a fully assembled replacement chair would be delivered. First instruction was that I should dispose of the first chair! Second instruction was that I should return it in the box the second one was due to arrive in. That made sense although manhandling chairs into a box nearly as big as I am is not easy. Second chair arrived on a pallet which is so heavy I can’t move it. Chair was wrapped in plastic. No box! This chair was in two halves. Impossible for me to connect it. I am now waiting to learn “my options” and have not been given any date when I can expect to hear from them despite following this up on several occasions. I know have 2 incomplete chairs cluttering up my work area plus a huge pallet cluttering up my garden. They have my money and I have completely useless chairs.

I understand your frustration, as both chairs arrived not fully built and whilst we have refunded the money for this, we are truly very sorry for this inconvenience. I can see that we have credited you an additional credit for compensation as this is not our standard level of service we offer and hope that your chair is now built and that you were able to dispose of your pallet too.

Nautilus deliver their chairs and tables directly from their own warehouse, and unfortunately on this occasion we were let down meaning that we let you down also - for which, I am very sorry.

Terrible customer service

Ordered an item in the wrong colour. I noticed upon opening the box. Contacted them immediately to request a return. They requested £30+ return fee for an item that cost only £69. I requested to return the item myself. Since then I have been completely ignored

Thank you for your review. I can see that through the online chat on 23rd May you requested the return of the cable management system and we emailed you return information early on 24th May whereby you acknowledged with a reply thanking us for our help.

The £30 plus VAT collection fee is a standard cost for collections as most of the products are larger and this is not a free service.

I am very sorry that you felt ignored by not receiving the email sooner, however we had to contact the manufacturer to obtain a returns number for you.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Consumer rights ignored!

I ordered an under desk power plug. It came and didn’t work. The reply I got:

Please can you check the fuses and swap them out to see if this fixes the problem, once trialed if this does not work please let me know.

Please note if it comes to it and we arrange a collection and we been advised the issue doesn't lie with the fuses and it does on inspection, it will be chargeable to have the power modules re-delivered.

So they delivered a product that does not work. I am expected to resolve the issue and I’m not they are going to charge me to send one that actually works,

I apologise if our response came across in the wrong way. Our customer service team only wanted to ensure that if after it had been plugged in the fuse hadn't blown and that it was checked. The reason for this is that a 'used' product (it had been taken out of the packaging and plugged in) is subject to certain charges and if after testing there was no fault to be found charges would be incurred by the manufacturer. We wanted to avoid this and ensure that we provide the best service possible.

Order Saturday delivered by Thursday

I ordered an office chair on Saturday,
The delivery said dispatch around 5 days for standard delivery,
After reading some reviews I was a little worried and so today (Thursday) I called to check my order was in processing and get an estimate of timings. When I called I spoke to a really friendly helpful lady (Rhianna) she confirmed that hopefully based on timescales for the warehouse I should be on track to get my delivery early next week and she was going to check my order personally and come back to me. As soon as I hung up I got a DPD delivery message and my chair was delivered today, and an email from Rhianna to say she had looked and my chair was out for delivery within 5 minutes of my call, its just as the pictures, seems great quality and was so easy to assemble it literally took me 15 minutes from start to finish. I nearly didn't order because a couple of bad reviews but I'm so glad I did. I would highly recommend, great chair and great friendly customer service :)

Really poor service

Really poor service, called up twice to get stock levels on a 2 meter desk, was told twice over two weeks I would have the information emailed by the end of the day.
I emailed administration and they emailed back stating they do not sell 2m desks but they have then on their website! Elite 2m.

Genuinely very pleased

I recently ordered a cabinet and there was slight damage to the unit. They responded immediately and sent me a replacement panel, which was exactly what I wanted without any fuss. Damage happens in transit sometimes and it is how companies fix issues that counts most to me.

Heed the warnings and avoid at all


Heed the warnings and avoid at all costs!!
Ordered an office chair from Office Furniture Direct which is a trading division of The Spotted Penguin Company Ltd.
It came damaged and the colour was very different from the photo on the website.
They have done absolutely everything they can to avoid fulfilling their obligations under statutory law.
They claim items are ‘bespoke’ and therefore unreturnable. They are off the shelf items, arriving next day, being labelled as ‘bespoke’ to avoid people being able to return them under online/distance selling regulations.
Despite items being damaged they claim the consumer has to pay shipping costs, contrary to consumer law.
If they don’t want to deal with you any longer, they block your e-mail, preventing you from carrying out any ongoing e-mail conversation.
After repeatedly having to educate them on current consumer law, threaten with legal action and trading standards, they eventually advised they would refund the product.
Only for them not to
.. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Still awaiting my refund

Apologies for the late reply we do not monitor Trust pilot so unfortunately I could not see this.
I cannot seem to find your order on our system, but generally any damaged items whether they are bespoke or not we would absolutely arrange a collection for our customers, whereby costs are covered. If an item is bespoke however and not faulty I'm afraid that a return would not be possible. The suppliers will not take these back as they are made to order. This is made clear before you purchase the item with swatches available to colour match.
I do understand that this is very frustrating and we do try and resolve issues as much as we can - this includes speaking to suppliers to get the very best for all of our customers.

If you let me know your order number I can check to see if everything was resolved and that the refund was processed.
