An outstanding surgeon and Team.
I cannot speak highly enough of medical and caring skills which i experienced with the removal of my 2cataracts, both painless and with little or no discomfort.
One month on I have better eye sight than I could have imagined and am so grateful. Thank you.

I have recently undergone bilateral cataract surgery performed by Ms Nishani Amerasinghe at The Wessex Nuffield Hospital. The operations were 2 weeks apart and I would definitely recommend her. I am very pleased with the outcome, found her very easy and helpful to talk to and very professional.

i was refered to Nishani Amerasinghe after i had my eye test showed cataracts in both eyes. at the consultation Nishani confirmed that she would lazer both eyes & replace both lenses, the 1st eye was to be done 2 weeks after the consultation, then a further 2 weeks for the 2nd eye.
all of the Nuffield Hospital staf were very polite & attentive, the surgery team were amazing, the operation was only about 15 minuits long, i was awake for this & kept informed throughout the operation as to what was going on, the after care by Nishani's team was everything you would expect. today i met Nishani for a review of both eyes, happy to say a complete success & i no longer require glasses to drive. i would highly recommend Nishani, as my experiance was superb from start to finish.

From my first consultation with Nishani about my cataracts I felt safe to be in her care. Her caring demeanor and interest in the operation that I was about to have was of great importance to me. Cataract surgery on right eye which has proved to be very successful. Pre-op consultation and assessment carried out in a professional and relaxing manner.The procedure was far less stressful than expected and I would recommend this surgeon for anyone requiring this treatment.

Ms Amerasinghe carried out cataract surgery on both my eyes in October & November 2021.
She was excellent at every stage.
At my pre surgery appointment she explained very clearly the procedure and the various options. She answered all my questions clearly and patently.
During the surgery she was very considerate of how I might be feeling and reassuring throughout.
Again at my post surgery appointment she was comprehensive in her review and advice.
I felt very confident, comfortable and secure in Ms Amerasinghe's skilled care.
I feel very fortunate to have had Ms Amerasinghe as my consultant. (and my sight is sooooo good now!)

Had cataract surgery on my right eye in September.
Everything was carried out by Nishani Amerasinghe in a professional, comfortable and friendly way. I am very pleased with the result.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes in September 2021. This involved two operations, two weeks apart.
Ms Amerasinghe ('Nish') explained everything clearly during the initial consultation and measurements.
She explained the various options for the new lenses, and what options I would have for pain relief/anaesthetic during the operations.
I chose the simplest distant vision lens for each eye; spectacles will be purchased for close work, but only in a few weeks, when the eyes have fully recovered.

Regarding anaesthetics, she considered that topical local anaesthesia would be sufficient. She said that sedation would be available, but that I would be unlikely to need it.
She was absolutely right.

The other important reassurance was that I would not be able to see instruments approaching my eye during the operation; there were good physics reasons why not, which she explained.
And again, she was dead right.

During the operation, she offered a detailed running commentary, which I opted for. (Engineers like me always want the full interesting details of everything).
The commentary was fascinating, there was no significant discomfort, during the operation, and all was done and tidied up in about 20 minutes.
And Nish was quite funny at times - very quick wit.

Care immediately after the operation was reassuring, and reasonably clear instructions (plus lots of eye drops). The staff were appropriately chatty and interesting.

The 8-10 hours after leaving the hospital were a bit painful, but after that, there were no problems.
And an impressively intricate table of eye drop requirements was provided.

The follow up appointment was an easy 30 minutes, and all was well.

Results: Spectacularly good (forgive the pun). Extraordinarily clear long distance vision in both eyes. Best vision I have had since age 8, when I got specs for reading the blackboard at school. I have been short sighted since then, until now.

This summer I had bilateral cataract surgery undertaken by Ms Nishani Amerasinghe at the Wessex Nuffield Hospital, Chandlers Ford. I endorse all the previous reviewers' comments on her reassuring calm professionalism and caring, approachable manner. I was initially apprehensive but quickly became confident about the procedure. In addition her secretary is super-efficient and helpful and all the hospital staff were kind and supportive.

The life-changing point I would add is that Ms Amerasinghe explained all my replacement lens options, whereas a friend of mine who had private cataract surgery at a different hospital is still regretting that she wasn't given this information.

I chose monovision; having a distance vision lens in one eye and a near vision lens in the other. Ms Amerasinghe wisely said that I should only undergo this procedure after a successful trial with monovision contact lenses, which worked for me. I now have almost perfect vision without glasses, which is so liberating! I can see the silhouette of Portland lighthouse at a distance of 12 miles and I can thread a needle. The only slightly imperfect image is small text on TV, like weather temperatures, but this could be corrected with glasses. The cost of monovision was the same as the standard NHS 2 x distance vision lenses.

I will be grateful to Ms Amerasinghe for the rest of my life and wholeheartedly recommend her.

Following the need for emergency treatment I saw Ms Amerasinghe at the Nuffield Chandlers ford, and subsequently at Southampton eye clinic. All treatment I received was excellent. I returned to the Nuffield for bilateral surgery for cataracts, drainage and replacement lenses and now have excellent eyesight - I had no idea how badly my eyes had deteriorated pre surgery. I would highly recommend anyone who has concerns about their sight to consult Ms Amerasinghe for professional treatment which considers the patient first in all respects.

I was under the care of Ms Amerasinghe at the Nuffield Chandlers Ford for the removal of cataracts in both eyes, with a 2 week gap between surgeries. Ms Amerasinghe is highly professional and friendly, keeping me fully informed and giving me the confidence to proceed with the operations. It has been an amazing experience and has made a huge difference to my life. I no longer wear glasses or contact lenses and I am totally delighted. If you need this procedure please do not hesitate and I highly recommend Ms Amerasinghe. Huge thanks to her and all her staff.

During the summer of 2020 I was diagnosed with Cataracts in both eyes. I saw Ms Amarasinghe at the Nuffield in Chandlers Ford and In November I had the more advanced cataract in my right eye removed. Then in January I returned to have the procedure on my left eye.

The whole process from initial eye examination through to the operations themselves and follow up was excellent. Ms Amarasinghe was very sympathetic toward some of the issues that cropped up and the surgery was planned and conducted in a way that I was very comfortable with.

The operations went very well and the end results have been amazing. I could not have hoped for a better outcome and cannot recommend Ms Amarasinghe highly enough.

Wonderful treatment. The result has changed my life. Ms Amerasinghe was supportive and helpful and her expert surgery has restored my sight.I cannot recommend this surgeon more highly.

Ms Amerasinghe performed cataract surgery on both my eyes recently. I was anxious at first but after meeting her on the first consultation I came home feeling much more relaxed about the procedure. She has such an aura of calmness; explained what she was doing at each stage of the surgery; never rushed anything. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ms Amerasinghe to friends and family. My eyesight had improved almost immediately! She is an angel.
