Thorough test, hard push for upselling

Plenty of availability for booking in. Had to wait over 15mins after my appointment time to be seen. Test was very thorough and while the optician explained the changes in my eyes, it was very fast and I can not remember most of what she said. All in all an efficient service. I was then led to the frames, I'll be really honest, not alot of variety in frame shape so I couldnt find one for my needs, large frames with light to no metal (for driving). I also feel I was pushed towards an upgraded specific lenses type for VD work but was not given the option of the standard lenses. The upgraded lenses was automatically applied to my order. I had to ask about the standard lenses and when I did, they were £120 cheaper than the upgrade. I took the standard lenses.

All in all, good for the test but I do wish they wouldnt push so hard for the upselling, it makes me really uncomfortable to the point I only bought one pair and not two as I usually do.

Fantastic service from all staff

Fantastic service from all staff. Hannah was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable, she explained every step and was honest with my choice of glasses. This was my first visit after using another high street company and l can honestly say the service is poles apart! I most definitely would recommend Vision Express Maidstone for all my friends and family and l will be back! Thank you.

Southern on Sea branch fantastic staff

I visited the Southern on Sea branch for my check up. Both Leah & Oscar were fantastic. Because I need to use a mobility scooter they took their time with me. They gave me extra time to move about. I also have very limited movement in my neck (my head is on a slant to the left) they would constantly ask if I was comfortable. I would highly recommend both of I.

I visited the Ryde store Isle of Wight


I visited the Ryde store Isle of Wight and was met by a very rude female optician called Rae, I’d previously seen another optician and I didn’t take his advice on caring for my contacts which for some reason she took this as though it was a personal attack on her, it’s my decision on what I do and not hers. Her voice was raised when asking me questions and she sounded very angry, she asked where I’ve had my contacts from in the past I told her online. When we left the room she stood at the counter whispering to the other staff about me then called me over and shoved the prescription in my hand and said “ there you go that’s what you wanted wasn’t it “ . She didn’t even say they were going to order my contacts. Obviously I won’t be going there again she’s a nasty rude arrogant woman with absolutely no tact or people skills whatsoever which is a shame because the rest of the staff are really nice 
. As a paying customer I did not deserve to be spoken to like that or any other member of the public for that matter .. If I could I wouldn’t have given any stars .

Poor experience. Unhappy with the service on this occasion.

My appointment was Friday 20th March 9am. On Thursday 19th March I received no less than THREE phone calls from the branch wanting to confirm my appointment. I arrived early and was seen at just after 9am for the pre-eye test checks. They were completed ok and I was directed to the waiting area. Where I waited, and waited, and waited some more. After about half an hour of being ignored I stopped a staff member to find out what was going on. A small panic amongst the staff ensued giving me the impression that they had totally forgotten that I was there. First I was told that they were running behind. A lie as I was the first customer of the day. Then they told me that the optician who was supposed to see me had phoned in sick. Another lie as I had seen her in her room. I was shuffled in to see an alternative optician who said that there had been confusion with the diaries. Later she slipped in to the conversation that the original optician had got a headache. The eye test was completed as planned. Between 3 staff members, none of them could get a story straight. I fully understand that unexpected things happen. Had someone bothered to speak to me while I was sat there, or if someone had bothered to tell me the truth instead of trying to cover an issue, I might have felt better about the situation. As it is, they didn’t and I don’t.
