Honest Review
Having holidayed at Auchenlarie Holiday Park at least once sometimes twice a year started off with 5 star results but over the last few years standards started to fall away, normally I always hired Gold standard accommodation for I knew I could turn up, unpack, enjoy my holiday, it then got to the stage that there was always something to do to the unit on arrival and these were very blatant cleaning chores that should have been carried out by the housekeeping staff but I will not bore you with the details, on my most recent experience I was unable to book Gold accommodation so plumped for Silver, On arrival I had a phone caall from home asking me to return to a family emergency so I left my wife and son and returned home expecting to come back the following day but it was 4 days later before I returned.
My wife showed me the state of the unit, large stains and a torn duvet, seating area and curtains covered in food stains, dirty mucky carpet, you could see the dirt rise as you walked over the carpet, pull out bed in lounge area the mattress was black not by colour but by filth (I think someone used this for the dogs to sleep)
and a few other issues. We decide to leave at this point 3 days early.
At reception I made my views known to the staff and the first thing they said was you should have told us on arrival even though I explained I had to return home. There was no offer of a staff member to go to the unit with me to so they could see exactly what I was talking about.
From home I contacted Hoseasons who took it it up with the Park and a person named Debbie responded to my complaint via email and I was amazed when she stated that she sent housekeeping to check out the unit and apart from some minor problems it was not as bad as I was making out, I had to laugh, would housekeeping really say that it was a mess and face getting disciplined because of it, I don`t think so. Why did a member of management not inspect the unit as you do not leave any department to police their own duties when complaints are made. One of the statements made by Debbie was that the carpet was cleaned the weekend before my arrival, really, they obviously knew how bad the carpet was if they were arranging to get it cleaned so sorry Debbie your carpet cleaner has charged you for a job not done.
When I told Hoseasons that I was not happy with the response from the Park they took it up with the Park once more and Debbie could not even remember the story she told on the first contact as the unit was now in an even better condition than before.
I have no complaints against Hoseasons but I have made it clear that Auchenlarie Holiday Park has seen the last of me and I know of others with the same opinion so I think it is about time the management of the Park took off the rose tinted glasses and bring the Park up to the standard it was known for...
