Its hard to tow the company line

Its hard to tow the company line, "Buy Canadian" when it costs more and takes L-O-N-G-E-R to fill a local order. I ordered a Graniteware 10" round Roasting pan online on the 14th. Its now the 21st and the order is still stuck at stage 1 which means they received the order but have not process, picked-up or moved anything anywhere.

And by their online claim that my order will be ready to pick-up by the 23rd and usually online order get completed before than... a big FAT HA!!! I doubt that highly.

The hilarious part is on the same day (February 14th), I place an online order with Temu for a square baking pan w lid. It was less than 1/3 the cost of the Graniteware roasting pan and it arrived FROM CHINA two days ago (19th). Only cost me $6.99 which is 1/3 the cost of the Graniteware version at $20.99 + tx ($23.72) - arrived in only 5 days from overseas and it was delivered to my home.

This Home Hardware order is a Pick-up because for this simple pan, they wanted $12.99 + tax to deliver it to me. $20.99 + $12.99 + tax ($38.40). Like why buy local (Canadian) when we can get it cheaper, FASTER and delivered to us. Instead of this more expensive, slower and is a pickup order...

Online it claimed instock but evidently that is a lie because I got an email claiming they still have the order in process and they are getting it from their warehouse instead of the store. Remember, TEMU DELIVERED TO ME... IN ONLY 5 DAYS FROM OVERSEAS!!! So Home Hardware... I'm not impressed. I bet because they are getting it from their, 'warehouse'... it'll be banged up, dented or worst crushed beyond belief...

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. Even if they have the product in the store it will take a week to get the order. Unbelievable. Will never order from home hardware again. Probably won’t ever buy anything from home hardware again. Still waiting

The return policy is a fake : "Merchandise can…

The return policy says "Merchandise can be returned to any store at no charge". In reality the store managers are not accepting the returns from different stores. I have purchased ABS drain at Home Hardware Metro Building Centre in Toronto and was trying to return it (still unused and boxed) to a different store - Eastway Home Building Centre in Markham, ON. I was told by store manager Kevin that all the returns must be made at the same store. Stay away from The Home Hardware Stores!

Store that Scams its customers

I had the displeasure of going to the College and Spadina location to purchase a Master Lock , lock box , when I brought it to set up and deposit keys in it, the number dial will not rotate once I changed the code from the original, took it immediately and exchanged it to a different model master Lock box, we experienced the same problem once the code was changed where the dial was stuck and will not rotate. When I took it back and requested for a refund, I was referred to an asian employee, who said that she sells a lot of these lock boxes, this is the first time she is having a complaint, will not provide us a refund because it was the second time within the same day that I am returning the lock boxes and I did not know how to set up the lock box. I was asked to come back on Monday so that an employee who knows how to set up the lock box will show me how to set it up. I had to advise her that I work with lock boxes all the time in my profession and I clearly knew how to set up a lock box and demonstrated and showed her where the rotating dial gets stuck once the code is changed and insisted that she provides us the refund today as we have to have the lock box tomorrow morning set up and cannot wait until Monday. With continued persistence she finally provided me the refund. I would like the following done by the Home hardware head office.

1) Compensate me for the time I wasted going back and forth trying exchange and obtain a refund.

2) I would like to know as to what the refund policy of Home hardware is and if all of their franchise owners are aware of the head offices refund policy.

3) Check all of the Master Lock, lock boxes in this store to ensure that they are working and they are not duping innocent customers by selling and not refunding non working lock boxes.

4) Train the franchise owner and the asian lady who dealt with us on the importance of customer centric approach to dealing with customer concerns.

We had to drive to a home depot and purchase the same lock and it works fine as per its design.

Very disappointed and will not recommend this location.

My husband and I went to your location…

My husband and I went to your location in Dundas Ontario university plaza my husband who is blind was looking for a rack to hang brooms and mops and was told by your store in Watertown that you do carry this item so we went to the one in Dundas which is closer. The reception we received was uninterest at best the gentleman who was helping us did not even know where to look in the store.My husband then asked if he could have it sent over from the other store. He went into the back room we waited for about 5min and another guy came out refused to look the item up on the computer and when we asked if he could arrange to have item sent to his store his comment was do it yourself told my husband he was rude and to get the f—-k out. I am 72 years old and was shocked. When asked to speak to the manager he said he was the owner and again get the f out of his store.We have lived in Dundas for 40 years and never been treated so rudely . If this is the type of person you want representing your name then sham on you. There is a Canadian tire in this plaza but we always thought we would support the small business owners. NOT ANY MORE

Do not do online orders

I've ordered a few sale things online and absolutely do not recommend it. I don't like when charges are refunded then added on, all without me doing anything. It's weird and makes me think their system is ripe for hacking, and at the very least does not work properly. How are they allowed to do a charge without authorisation?

Terrible service

Terrible service. I ordered (last Friday) a fan in an emergency situation (very high and prolonged heat) after the fan in my chicken coop broke down. My order was supposed to arrive today at the latest (1-3 days was what was promised, not business days).
It is (Monday late afternoon) day 3 and my order has not even left the warehouse in Ontario. I will have to find another alternative because of the urgency of the situation. I said I wanted to be refunded and was told I could NOT be refunded. I made a complaint on line and received a confirmation number. I am still waiting to hear from them. Purolator has been very helpful and have been trying to help me but, as they have not received the order there is little they can do.
I would not advise anyone to order from this company on line.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. Kudos to Andy. Each time I have a question, he takes me to the location of the item I am looking for. Knowledgeable & personable.
Gladdie at the checkout is efficient, pleasant & knowledgeable about store inventory.

Convenient

Some of their items are more expensive and you can buy them elsewhere. Some items are the same or a bit higher in price. But for small projects, the shop is perfect. You can order items that are not available at the store. For convenience, I would rate it as good.

I purchased a Radley Gas lawn mower at…

I purchased a Radley Gas lawn mower at the Home Hardware on Grand Avenue in Chatham this week - June 19, 2024.....the staff were very helpful. The reviews for this lawn mower in their weekly flyer showed a 5 star purchase satisfaction. I totally agree - I used our new lawn mower for the first time this morning and it is definitely a 5 star. Very very happy with our Radley lawn mower!

EVERY time I shop at Home Hardware…

EVERY time I shop at Home Hardware there is a problem. They don't give a damn about what they are selling you. And they got you by the short and curlies because they are usually the only game in town if you live in a rural environment. Their "sale" prices are regular prices anywhere else.

I would give zero stars if it was an…

I would give zero stars if it was an option
They recently sold me two different hose connectors but they double scanned one part and didn't scan one of the connectors.
I didn't end up needed second connector so I tried to return it. They said we never sold you this, we are missing one from stock and took it from me and did not return my money.
I said so you are calling me a thief now even you you screwed up and actually over charged me. Why would I buy 2 of the exact same part. Owner of the store in Newmarket was also a tool because he was not willing to refund me 9 dollars after 20 years of loyal service.
I will go back to Home Depot and Lowe's from now on.

Great Staff

I was in the Burnaby Home Hardware store on Edmonds Street yesterday. Amazing service from Ian.
Friendly, great advice on a couple of things I bought, and he helped get my purchases out to my car in the pouring rain! Great store and staff!

New counters

I went to Home hardware to see if they carried the countertops I wanted. The salesperson was very good and showed me what I wanted immediately. It's a new product called Dekton and I just went to see it. I fell in love with the one she showed me and proceeded a few days later with measurements. I got a quote almost immediately. The measurement were done within a week and a week later it was installed. They were neat, tidy and polite. The handyman she recomended was amazing and did all the plumbing even installing my garburator, there didn't seem to be any problem he couldn't solve. I was very happy with the whole process, and Nardene checked that everything was ok, every step of the way.

Home Hardware will never apologize.

Bought an item on Home Hardware online. This item, according to their website, was available to be sent to the store or to my home address. I chose to have it delivered to the store and paid with my Mastercard. The next day I received an email telling me that I had cancelled my order ( I had not).
I sent the customer service an email telling them that I had never cancelled the order. They responded that I had cancelled the order. I had not cancelled that order and any merchant would apologize if an item on a website was not really available to be sent to the store near my house. Home Hardware doesn't care. They have blacklisted my email address so I don't have access to their ''customer service'' department!

Harrow Ontario & Kingsville Store

Harrow Ontario Store. Outstanding service. People in store especially young females know their products. I can call and ask for example a 2*4 and they will automatically give me the prices. Only had one concern as one of the older guys couldn't help me find a hose part that was right in front of him and gave me a bit of pushback. Another one of the older guys is outstanding as he helped me with a plumbing part w/options. Zero Stars: That being said people have told me that the Kingsville store changed hands and some of the help is very poor. An older guy named F r e d who worked there for years for the previous owner was amazing! If you brought any problem to him he could help you! This is how you keep customers coming back. Unfortunately either he quit or the new owners got rid of him. I totally avoid the Kingsville location! Others I know have also. No mercy as I want people that know what they are doing to help me solve a problem. That's what good Hardware Store do.

Violating Consumer Protection Laws, I'll Never Order from Them Again

I will never order from Home Hardware online again because they won't take responsibility for getting you the product you purchased.

The delivery service marked the package as delivered, and signed by someone named "Rick" even though there is no one here named Rick. So I let them know, figuring that like all other companies they would apologize and work to figure out what went wrong, and solve the issue.

What did they do instead? They replied and said literally: "Home Hardware does not take responsibility for theft from personal property."

It wasn't stolen, it was NEVER DELIVERED.

How do I know? Because we live in a field, surrounded by nothing in a rural place. If anyone came to our house we would know. We were standing outside at the time they said it would be delivered. You can't sneak up on our house and deliver something and hide it and find someone named "Rick" to sign for it.

Under Canadian law retailers are responsible for delivering the package to the customer and for managing problems with their delivery service. There is no ambiguity about this, the retailer is responsible for delivery of the item. Consumer protection laws at both the provincial and federal level are clear about this.

Home Hardware is untrustworthy and trying to get around these laws, throwing their hands up and pretending it isn't their responsibility. Shameful behaviour.

The package was eventually delivered by the courier, not at the time it was marked delivered, but another day entirely. Proof that they never delivered it to begin with but just marked it as delivered. But what this illustrates is how Home Hardware will respond if your package goes missing, they'll just pretend it has nothing to do with them. Awful behaviour and evidence that it's not safe to order from them.

On Sun

On Sun. I decided to drop in to Home Hardware on Wellington St. to find a special lightbulb. I looked for it on the shelves for about 10 minutes without success and decided to ask one of the employees for help. I approached 3 employees behind the paint section and they told me to go to customers services for some reason. They did not appear to be busy but they could not help me. I approached customer services for help and they kind of laughed and said that I would have to check the shelves. There were 2 employees standing talking to each other but neither had the time to help me. With these kind of employees it is a wonder that this store is even in business. I try to support local businesses but sometimes it is very difficult!
