RENFREW ONTARIO CANADA STORE

RENFREW ONTARIO CANADA STORE. Everything is vastly overpriced like your actually rapu g people and charging me 16.00 for a 3 foot cut leftover piece of pipe is insulting and even worse telling MEyour are charging me for someone else cut!? Like that's just disgusting. I'll never darken your doorstep again sorry I even tried.

Just go to home depot or amazon

Just go to home depot or amazon. After spending hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars at this store, they refused a return of 3 primer cans because they were tested on a 3 inch area and found not to be usable. Instead of just taking the return, and at worst eating $20 worth of cost, they refused the return, and have now permanently lost a customer who regularly wastes money making mediocre home projects. This store is a prime example of why large corporations with business training (who understand the long term value of a customer), just devour these independently owned stores. Congrats home depot, amazon, you just got my money.

Flyers Useless

They print flyer 6 months in advance. When the flyer comes out they don't have the products available to purchase. They false advertise.

Port Hope Home Hardware needs to get into the real world of service!

The past year of purchases from Port Hope Home Hardware has been riddled with issues. There's nobody working in key items areas except for perhaps the paint department. I bought a toilet and requested a lift. After 15 minutes of waiting, I finally found a suitable cart myself and loaded it alone. I recently bought some lumber but was given the wrong product by the yard worker. When I phoned about it, I was told I needed to come back to the store and talk with the yard worker because the lumber desk worker would need a product number. In fact, the lumber I bought wasn't even listed on his computer - but that's my job to come back to the store and straighten this mess out!!!!!! The store prices are completely ridiculous and smell like profiteering. Since the Gilmer's sold the business, things have gone downhill. The staff seem very unhappy and the whole business smacks of absentee ownership. The owner needs to take a hard look at all the negative reviews and smarten up. That's why I now go to Home Depot in Cobourg. Their owner has his or her head screwed on correctly.

Illegal practices

I was going to purchase a lawn ornament. It was in a display with other tall stands marked 40% off. I confirmed with a clerk the one I was looking at was 40%. He picked it up for me and put by the cashier. The cashier then said that was the ONLY piece Not for sale. I questioned why. Cashier said the owner put it there saying it is not on sale. I asked to speak to that person. She wasn't there. I spoke with the person in charge who echoed what the cashier despite my stating that most reputable business honour what the posted price states. She just shrugged and said she couldn't sell it for 40% as posted. I firmly asked again why is it with everything else that Is 40% off. She shrugged again. I stated that was shameful and I would be voicing my concerns publicly. I will never shop at that store again and am contemplating returning the 2 items I purchased immediately before this incident. It's called Bait and Switch and is illegal!!

Disappointing Customer Service

I purchased a benchmark gas lawn mower with electric starter. The battery on the starter dies a couple of weeks after the purchase. It didn’t work, it didn’t charge. I called the store (700 Tecumseh Rd W, Windsor, ON N8X 1H2) they did not take any responsibility and referred me to the manufacturer’s warranty.

I called the manufactures. They said I had to take the battery to a shop (Colbro) in Windsor, they will have it diagnosed and repaired/replaced.

I called the store (Colbro), they said it would be 3 weeks before they can start looking at it.

I subsequently called the Home Hardware store manager again to see if he can offer any help. Nope. He said “I understand. I make sure I pass this on”!!!

What a great customer service by all three parties.

I will definitely not shop from Home Hardware again
I will not use any of the Benchmark products in the future
I will try not to shop anything from the local store they introduced either.
All three are boycotted by me
I will advise family and friends about this too.

Some good, some bad.

Positive aspects: most stores have a salesperson that you can actually find and who tries hard to be helpful.
Negatives: most stores are small and have a limited stock.
Online shopping negative: website works poorly. On one occasion, unable to change my store or even show it, so I could not get pricing.
Accumulated 5 items in my cart over the course of a day, went to check out in the evening and 3 said "unable to order online". Had to make a separate order for the other 3, but each order was now under $100, so I had to pay two shipping charges instead of free shipping. Customer service was unwilling to reverse the charges, lacked interest in helping.

I tried to use a printed gift card and…

I tried to use a printed gift card and was told that their system was so new it couldn't handle it. Honest!!!!
Last time nobody knew how to use a Visa gift card.
My last visit to the Smiths Falls store and probably Home Hardware.

Swift current home hardware is a joke…

Swift current home hardware is a joke do not special order anything you need.
Ordered a maax afr nomad rh drain ALCOVE bathtub waited 5 days for it only to have them get me a corner tub wasted my time and my Contractors time for him to come install this tub.
Do not recommend ordering anything through swift current home hardware. Waste of time and effort.

Bought a new lawnmower from home hardware cut the grass once and gas was leaking out of the carburetor. Took it back because it was only a week old and they said it had to go in for repair wouldn't give e us a new one. After a week finally got it back so buyer be ware

Poor Service from Paul

On Monday, March 6th, I went to Home Hardware on Seymour St in North Bay.  I wanted to pick up a sheet of 3/4" white melamine and a sheet of 1/2" white melamine.  I went to talk to the manager-Paul to tell him that I was suffering from anxiety.  I told him it was up to a 10 and to see if they can get my lumber cut.  The manager at Home Hardware told me the only way that they could cut white melamine is on their tablesaw and that the employee would have to cut it and they would probably charge me extra for the cutting of the material I wanted.  I told the manager that you don't have to cut it on the tablesaw and that you can cut it on a panel saw oversized and I can cut it at home on my tablesaw and have no problem with any chips sticking out of it.  The manager at Home Hardware got really upset with me.  I think he got upset with me because I told him of another way you can cut the material.  He started yelling at me to get out of his store and don't come back.  After him yelling at me, I did start yelling back at him.  There was quite a few words exchanged between the manager-Paul and I. 
I don't believe as a manager that the manager should be acting like that at all.  If he is having a bad day, he should not be taking it out on customers.  I often wondered what would happen if he had an employee who came to him and questioned him, if he would've freaked out on that employee who could be suffering from mental health.  I did go to another lumberyard and had my material cut oversized for me at NO EXTRA cost and no waiting.
 
I feel that the reaction from Paul that day lead to me calling Head Office and speaking with Val, a Customer Service Representative, daily since that day with no results.  Val has tried contacting Paul daily but he won't respond to her calls.  He won't talk to her on the phone.  I am seeking an apology from Paul for how he treated me and for reimbursement for the cost of gas to go to another lumberyard in Sudbury, Ontario.

Lack of customer service in Chatham

I live in Chatham Ontario. We have two home hardware stores. The newest store being just up the street from my home on grand ave. This became our number one hardware store which we have spent a lot of money at. Staff are friendly store is bright organized and clean. Now this is where as a customer I am extremely upset. I stopped into the store on keil st I was looking for individual k-cups ( I once bought them at a store in Guelph) I was told they only sell boxes of them.I found them seen that all the different kinds where 24 to a box and ALL were priced at $17.50. I decided to go to the Grand Ave store on my way home and buy them. I walked in was greeted politely the display is located right at the cash. When I looked their pricing was 19.99 for the same box that was 17.50 just a few miles away! Not to mention the other kinds all varied in price. I mentioned it to the young lady at the cash she nicely told to go over to the customer service counter and they would help me. I went over and seen Paul a man that has helped me a few times before with finding things. I explained to him about the pricing discrepancy and asked why. He went on the computer to check. Here is another strange thing on the computer they only show boxes of 12.. strange as both stores only sell boxes of 24 but that’s not my issue. He basically told me they weren’t in the computer tried to explain that maybe the other store got them from a different supplier. The difference was 2.49 all I wanted was for him to honour the lower price. I even asked him if he wanted me to call the other store. Nope to Paul the computer was the one that would dictate the price. In all honesty I really don’t care about 2.49 it’s the principle of the matter. Two home hardware stores in a small town with completely different prices. I chose to give my business to the Grand Ave store that day. Two days later I went to the Keil store just to prove I was correct and took a picture. Went back to see Paul politely showed him the picture with the price. Told him I didn’t care about the money it was the fact he didn’t believe me, showed no interest in customer service . The only thing he said was”I am sorry”
Well Paul you just lost a customer and if you continue to treat customers that way there will be more. As I said “word of mouth goes along way.” This is something I have never done before. I have never been treated that way in a store before.
In this day and age with inflation skyrocketing and consumers watching their money your store can not afford to lose customers over $2.49. Very Sad.

After seeing a slew of ads saying that…

After seeing a slew of ads saying that Home Hardware is the place to go to get help getting my home improvements done I gave them a call. I have several things that need doing. The person who ansewred said I made a mistake calling them, call someone else. Wow. I still see the ads running and emailed head office asking why they advertise a service they don't provide. They referred me back to the local store i had dealt with and went through the story only to be told they don't understand the issue or what it is I want. Wow. Willfully ignorant. Anyone know where i can get new kitchen cabinet doors, countertops and laminate floors?

No stock, lost business.

Everything is always out of stock and its just such a hassle to get anything ordered. Employee's are good, its just every time I visit the store the items I need are out of stock and I end up taking my business elsewhere online. Out of the 10-12 times I've been in-store I've found an item I needed once.

Best service.

As most home hardware stores don't swap between themselves (I should deduct a couple of stars for that) I had to go to an out of town store to get what I wanted. Shannon, at Fletcher's Home Hardware in Princeton B.C. arranged shipping for me (a heavy pump), and even called to make sure I got it in good order. Better service you couldn't ask for, thank you.

At the homehardware in Preston Cambridge is awesome.
I’m a very seasoned millwright, but he blew me away with his great knowledge of plumbing fixtures.
The staff there has always been great, and helpful.
I find myself going there first, instead of the box stores.
Don’t have to walk a mile to get something either.
Try it ,you will like it.

I am almost never disapointed when I…

I am almost never disapointed when I shop for hardware items at the Nanaimo BC Hardware. For example today I needed a very unusual plumbing fitting that I did not think I would be able to get so I asked Wayne for assistance and he very quickly located the exact item in the very well stocked plumbing department.
