This warranty company doesn't always cover all the costs of repairs!

Opteven, you've asked me to write a review based on my experience of using your service recently.

Well, unfortunately, contrary to your email stating that my case has "concluded successfully" I am still actually waiting to get my repairs done!

Even though the repairer have the parts in stock and spaces in their diary to carry out the repairs now, I cannot take it to them yet. This is because they require me to pay for the repairs done on the day, and we all know that Opteven are not covering all of the costs!

The car was only 4 years old when I purchased it, and these new style door handles (not opening out, ready for use), is nothing to do with wear and tear, like brakes, discs, tyres etc. (This is not a minor issue either, because we have to open both passenger doors from the inside!) And as I noticed this issue only 5 or 6 weeks after receiving the car, I am covered by my statutory consumer rights as I purchased from a dealer.

I have already contacted the dealer I purchased the car from, and they are refusing to contribute anything. I believe this to be illegal, so I am currently searching for my best possible option to kindly remind them of this fact, and hopefully get them to change their minds. If I have to take it to the small claims court, I will do that. But I don't want to do that as it just wastes my time again.

I will probably update this review, once the repairs have been carried out, as I do like to keep all my reviews updated. This allows any readers of my reviews to make up their own minds about a certain company using the latest/updated information.

The problem isn’t fixed

The problem isn’t fixed, this is the third time now trying to fix the car. I’ve had the car 1 month and used it a couple of times! Currently waiting for a trailer to come and collect the car again!

Able to use local trusted garage


I was able to use my local trusted garage for the repair, Scott motors asked for quote etc this was supplied, approved and payment made to local garage

Excellent Service

Excellent communication throughout both on the phone and via email when we needed to discuss a potential claim for work on our van. Extremely quick to respond and authorise repair and we were reimbursed the day after submitting our invoice. We were very impressed with the professional service Opteven provided.

I am very happy with the product and customer service.

I like the cover offered. It has served me well.
Sometimes the claim process is made a little more difficulty than it needs to be.

Overall though I am very happy with the product and customer service.

Could not fault the service

Could not fault the service. Responsive, friendly and paid out immediately for a substantial repair. They called me to warn of any potential small charges not covered by the warranty, although they didn’t materialise. I would highly recommend this warranty company!

Scam Scam Scam!!!!

Scam Scam Scam!!!!!
Please be aware of this company, because they don’t cover any mechanical claim. They sell you an insurance but don’t give you a claim. I bought a van not longer than a month ago and the turbo failed to work. So I made a claim and they said that the turbo is not mechanical damaged. I was scammed by the trader who sold me van like that but he gave me an insurance covered all electrical and mechanical faults. They had the van for about three weeks and at the end they refused the claim and wasted all my time as-well. Please don’t be fooled by buying their insurances. It is a complete waste of time and money.

Opteven has been a life saver

Opteven has been a life saver, after the dealership refused any claim. I contacted Opteven and they assisted and ensured the fault was fixed from a registered mechanic.
I really appreciated the support they provided.

Awesome

We purchased a car, two weeks later experienced a major expensive fault whilst in France on holiday. Opteven covered us, it was a complex situation but DAVID in claims was absolutely outstanding going above and beyond to support us through an extremely stressful time. I really can’t fault him, keeping us updated and helping in every way possible. We wouldn’t have got through it without his support.
Thanks all at Opteven, with the best will in the world, I hope we don’t have to speak again with this car! Thanks again.

Refused claim even though component is in my warranty?!?

I have had issues with my car that came with a warranty with opteven. They have been good at dealing with myself until today when they refused a component covered in my warranty. They said due to wear and tear but in the same breath stated they could approve this for other cars with the same mileage, I would NOT recommend going with opteven because they may refuse your warranty even though the component is COVERED in the warranty and it is clearly damaged. They've also said about my car being over 100,000 miles which is nonsense as I have bought the car over 100,000 miles and they have given me warranty for the COMPONENT that has an issue. Be careful if you choose opteven warranty as they may refuse whats in your warranty without a valid enough reason.

As a Garage owner great service

As a Garage owner , I have had two customers with warranties with opteven and the whole process has been stressfree both times, it’s nice to actually deal with a warranty company that is efficient and quick at dealing with claims

Do your research first

just had my renewal email come through as its due to expire soon, while waiting to speak top someone i was listening to the the info and it stated that i would only be able to take my bike to a approved dealership? i was not told this when i reached the chap very helpful i asked he said it should be any vat registered dealer but could not say 100 percent i would have to speak to someone in the claims department? lucky for me i have not had to claim as Labour costs are only £50 per hour including VAT? no garage in the charges that? and that if the cost was £100 i would have to pay the extra £50 per hour ? I would look somewhere else for a policy so you don't get a hefty bill. my last bike the same model had crank failure with cost nearly 7k to repair luckily it was under warranty as bike was purchased from from another dealership. giving 1 star as i was told I was covered for the full amount of a claim and I clearly wasn't

Smooth, but with a sting

I had a warranty from Opteven that came with a car I recently bought. The rear coil spring snapped and this was covered by the warranty. Great, I thought. The garage doing the repair liaised directly with Opteven, provided photos and a quote for the required work, so it was smooth from that respect. The garage quoted 1.5 hours labour to change a broken rear coil spring (a quick Google search result says 1-2 hours, so it was about right). Opteven said "No, it takes 30 minutes". The garage said it was completely unrealistic to change it in 30 mins and appealed the decision, but no joy. I ended up having to pay the difference (1 hour labour + VAT) - ok, it will not break the bank, but had the penny pinching not happened, I'd have given 5 stars and said well done. It just leaves a bad taste when you think you will be 100% covered by a superior car warranty only to find you are landed with nearly 1/3 of the total bill.
