The garage dealt with the claim and I didnt have to do a thing.
The warranty made what could have been a costly repair a breeze and the claim was dealt with in a very timely mannor. I was in and out in the same day.
Unfortunately the first fix didnt completely rectify the fault as there were multiple codes, the garage werent sure what the leading cause was. However, opteven paid for the return visit with no hesitation and again, my car was ready in the same day.

Do not use or renew your warranty with this company. Awful to deal with and have no clue what they are talking about. Am not surprised not many garages want to deal with them. Clearly they use Google technicians. Avoid at all cost as no point in having the cover as you will be still left out of pocket.

AVOID! The head office staff are polite and understanding, they did try to help. But i had to deal with the area rep in order to get a refund on a policy i had purchased the day before.
I had the misfortune of having to deal with let's call him Barry, he said that they didnât have to refund me (despite their terms and conditions saying i have 14 days) as it was optional for them to refund me. He said the 14 days means i can cancel my policy, but i wont get a refund. That is the biggest load of rubbish i have ever heard.
When i told him i would report him to the company, to trading standards, to the Motor ombudsman and to the fca, he told me to get lost and started mocking my crying 4 month old baby in the background and told me to f off.
Just don't deal with this company
Update: clearly barry white doesn't work for you. The guy gave me a fake name when i called to cancel the policy

Truly appalling. I was unfortunate enough to have 4 problems with a car I'd bought 12 months ago, and every single time Opteven found a little loophole to get out of covering the problem. Tedious, lengthy claims process which makes it extremely painful for the repairers. Dont waste your money using their warranty.

Five-star positive experience from Opteven. This is a great warranty company for protection when you buy a second-hand car. When I needed to make a claim, 3 so far, the process was smooth and straightforward. They were quick to process and allowed me to use my own trusted repairer. The 3 claims ( turbo electrics then timing change then turbo replacement ) amounted to over £2,400 which they paid most of directly to the repairer. Highly recommended!

Absolutely rubbish not even worth the paper it's written on , the drive chain went on the car and the bill to fix it was £1,500 opteven basically said they would pay for the parts of drive chain that failed which is ridiculous not the whole kit that was needed and I had premium cover they offered to pay £654 towards the bill that was including fitting . You don't buy parts of a kit you have to buy the whole thing .didn't use it as id only had the car 4 weeks managed to fight and send car back .

I contacted the service department of the car sales that I purchased the car from and informed the manager that the car had an issue l. As I live 180 miles away I was assured that I should get the car sorted at a local garage to me, pay the invoice and then they would pay me back the total invoice cost. Car fixed on Wednesday. I contacted the service manager on Thursday, sent him photos of car registration and mileage along with the invoice. Friday, the money was back in my bank account.

Absolutely rubbish. Took my car to their listed garage who couldn't sort. I then had to chase to find another. They think they knew the issue but took 2 more weeks for Opteven to authorise the job. Let's see. Still not completed. Ps refuse to use dealers only cheap garages. To add, still not completed and having read all reviews. They only bother to respond to nice reviews not unfavourable ones!

Made a claim for water pump and head gasket failure. They stated they were only going to partially pay for the damage, they wont cover the head gasket as they don't cover consequentially damage caused to one part by the failure of another. This is not highlighted in their T&C's and they admitted this on the phone.
This highlights the company fails its customers on several consumer duty regulations:

Not worth the paper it is written on
I had warranty with opteven provided when i purchased a vehicle from a garage as hire purchase. One of the reason why i went with this decision was because of the warranty giving me peace of mind that any issues would be resolved. This however is far from the truth, after the vehicle developing a fault 1 month in the the warranty the garage recommended i take the matter up with the Opteven. They wanted a quote for works required and none of their pre-approved garages work on electric vehicles and so to get the best diagnostic i needed to go to jaguar. Jaguar charged me for a diagnostic and a quote which after submitting to opteven they responded to say they would only cover a small portion of the repair cost and nothing from the diagnostic fees. Their reason was that the main part of the repair the wiring harness was not covered. With the claim being on a electric vehicle the wiring harness is critical to the vehicle and so i have come to to conclusion that their warranty is not adequate for electric vehicles and worth the paper it is written on, i am now left with a faulty vehicle and thousands in repair costs and directly out of pocket £800 in diagnostic costs.
