Extremely stressed âŠ
Workmen were reasonably good BUT whoever was supposed to SIGN OFF the work DIDN'T DO IT !! So now we are left to try and find someone else to sign the work off so the Solar panels can be connected to the grid , we are pensioners and in ill health and just don't know where or who to get the work signed off so we can start getting our bills reduced....there was however ONE young man who went out of his way to help that was TOM CLARKE a FANTASTIC ELECTRICIAN... Wish we could get hold of him ðª An absolute AMAZING young man ... if anyone has ANY information that could help us get someone to sign off our work we work be extremely grateful ! ...our work was done September 2025

Please donât ever use this company
Please donât ever use this company. Their systems donât work and two people with health issues in their 60s now have no heating or hot water and have to wait till Monday morning to try and get yet another call-out. In a year we must have had around 10 breakdowns, stick with oil or gas
An Honest Assessment 6 Weeks In.
The new heating system is taking some getting used to. It is very different from what we had, an oil fired heating system. The new Air Source Heat Pump struggles to heat the house beyond 20 degrees. Usually running at about 19.5 degrees, which isnât really warm enough. Itâs OK if you are busy but not enough if you want to sit and read, knit or watch TV. We have to get the log burner going as well. It is often cold in the house first thing in the morning, not great in mid winter.
Will it save us money? Thatâs doubtful at this stage. In fact itâs proving very expensive, our monthly electricity bill has more than doubled. However, it is pretty cold out at the moment, the heat pump is working almost continuously. Plus the solar panels arenât getting many hours of sunlight to generate the solar power that will help to reduce costs. Any increase in electricity costs needs to be off set against savings in buying oil, it is hard to say at the moment how that equation will work out over a year.
The system is slow to respond. If you turn the target heat down a couple of degrees (eg when we were away for Christmas) it takes many hours, if not a whole day, to get back up to temperature.
The boiler is enormous and the heat pump itself much bigger and more intrusive than we imagined. Itâs also noisy when working to heat the house.
However, our old system was dated and definitely had issues. The new system will help âfuture proofâ the house. We have all new radiators installed and good insulation now.
The installation process was extremely disruptive, impacting every single room in the house. It was very stressful. Itâs taken weeks to get the house back in order with most rooms needing redecorating or at least touching up around installation areas. The workmen doing the installation were very professional and polite. They did what they could to minimise disruption and be respectful. They did an excellent job. I stress itâs not the workmanship Iâm questioning itâs the effectiveness and efficiency of the Air Source Heat Pump system itself.
Was it worth it? Probably will be longer term but only because we had the work done on a grant. All I can say for sure at this time is that our home was warmer with our old oil fired system.
Would we do it if weâd appreciated upfront the full extent of the disruption, running costs and the issues around its limited ability to fully heat the house on its own? Ask me when weâve had the system a year and the disruption is a distant memory.
One bonus, we had a good clear out in the process as most rooms where effected to some extent and âthat cupboard under the stairsâ, that got emptied.
Scam installer if heat pump
Winter 2022/23 CES sent fraudulent South Wales company to replace my cylinder gas heating system with an air sourced heat pump system.
The company they sent did no survey so no advice on where to locate the cylinder hence noisy internal pump and clicking in my bedroom and big control unit intruding into my bedroom.
Sent the wrong sized cylinder so no heating or hot water tge whole winter.
No paperwork at all provided.
Several call backs to installer who was belligerent and rude.
The directors should be investigated atâŠ
The directors should be investigated at the highest level
Installation over
Installation over, very very pleased with the whole process, the solar panel fitters Mark and Gav were excellent and to their credit, a few weeks later were in our area and recognised our elderly neighbour who was disorientated after a bicycle accident they came across, and they brought her home and informed us so we could check on her, talk about going the extra mile.!!!!
Nothing but praise, thank you guys.
Company causes hypothermia
I've had heating for only 14 months and this is the 3rd time the heating has stopped working. The thermostat on 2 other occasions and now it's my belief the thermostat has gone again. The ice was thick on the ground on Saturday and my heating broke down Saturday evening. I have no other source of heating apart from yours. I phoned but all offices were closed. I sent an email and nobody has answered yet and it's now 13.20 on Monday 12th January. I was taken into hospital with hypothermia Sunday 11th for a few hours
I'm 66, disabled, very ill and a very thin lady. I spent 2 hours phoning one connection this
morning until my battery ran out and another 1. 45 hours on another connection. Nobody has answered me to date. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. There is no help available once everything is installed. You have one phone number with 7 connections but nobody is answering on those connections. I've had to turn my care team away today because it's too cold in my bathroom to take a shower. I stink and I can't strip off now.
Left in the lurch
Hundreds of jobs have been lost at a major Welsh employer as it announced it has entered administration. Almost 300 staff at Consumer Energy Solutions, which has sites in Swansea and Rhondda Cynon Taf, have lost their jobs after City Energy Group, which owns the company, confirmed it was undergoing a restructure.
A notice posted on the Consumer Energy Solutions (CES) website on Friday announced that administrators had been appointed. It added that the energy company had "ceased trading with immediate effect". CES employs 295 people in Swansea and Treorchy and administrators are now responsible for supporting all workers through the job losses.
A member of staff who spoke to WalesOnline after the company told workers their jobs were at risk in the days before Christmas said people were "in turmoil" after being told the grim news on a Teams call. The employee, who did not want to be named, added: "I am just beside myself along with my colleagues."
The announcement also confirmed CES will be unable to complete any further work for customers. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here.
The group previously said the proposed restructure and job losses were the result of the end of the UK Government-backed energy scheme ECO4 which it operated.
The initiative, which helped homeowners save on home energy upgrades, such as insulation, solar panels, and heat pumps, is due to come to an end this year.
The notice said: "Please note that James Saunders and Michael Lennon of KR8 Advisory Limited were appointed as joint administrators of Consumer Energy Solutions Limited on January 9, 2026, the company has ceased trading with immediate effect.
"The company is unable to complete any further work for customers. It should be noted that the administration of the company does not involve any other companies in the City Energy Group.
"The joint administrators will be contacting creditors and employees directly to confirm the next steps and how claims will be processed. You do not need to do anything further at this stage.
"As Consumer Energy Solutions has entered administration, we will be unable to carry out any remedial works or repairs, or to progress or resolve any existing complaints.
"If you have had an installation completed by Consumer Energy Solutions and are experiencing any issues that you believe require rectification, we refer you to the following insurance backed guarantee providers who will be able to advise."
A spokesperson for the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero said: "The ECO and GBIS schemes were not delivering value for money.
"We are instead investing an additional £1.5 billion into our Warm Homes Plan, taking it to nearly £15 billion â the biggest ever public investment to upgrade homes and tackle fuel poverty."
Typical of companies that rely on government grant money
I went for a job with CES about 2 years ago. I didnât get it, but now looking at how things turned out with them going into liquidation and the really heinous customer reviews, I had a lucky escape.
Typical of companies like this, they always appear where thereâs government grant money to be had. As soon as thereâs a sniff that the gravy train is coming to an end theyâre gone in a flash. They made £25 million last year so they were in a very good financial state. They knew exactly what they were doing by pulling the plug now.
Feel sorry for anyone who has historical or ongoing issues with them because the reality of the building industry is, youâll find it next to impossible for anyone to take over their work. Itâll be a rip out and start again.
Called CES several timesâŠno answer
We had a visit from CES engineer before Xmas due to a problem with our boiler. Needed a replacement part. Didnât hear anything for over 1 week. Xmas was fast approaching so called them back. The adviser was not aware about our issue. I asked to speak to a manager, the adviser put me on hold and came back to me after a few minutes and said we are booked in for the 02/01/2026. So we had to wait 2 weeks for this appointment due to the holiday period.
NO ONE turned up on the 2nd Jan. We tried to call CES to find out what time the engineer was coming. I was in a queue from 10.30am to 4.30pm, with no answer.
I tried again on the 07/01/2026, again in a queue from 9am to 3pm, no answer again.
I was calling from my mums landline. Sky her phone provider have text to say we have an extra bill of £150 for the calls made. We never get charged for extra calls because we donât use the phone for this long.
My mum whose boiler has a problem is 83yrs old.
The boiler is working but it keeps losing pressure so we have to refill every 1 hour otherwise the heating goes off.
Absolutely disgusting service from CES LIMITED.
We pay £15.99 per month for the service agreement but no one is answering the calls.
2 days on the phone 6 hours each time. Plus Iâve taken time of work to make these calls and wait in for the engineer.
There is only one contact number, I have emailed too but automated reply, due to high number of emails etc.
absolutely ridiculous service

What a bunch of amateurs......pestered me for weeks then when i finally agreed to have the work done they disappeared waited 4 months for a survey then to be told they were being made redundant......so glad now they actually didn't start any work, reading all the other reviews these sound like a bunch of cowboys and looks like i have had a lucky escape!!!
Solar power no longer registering onâŠ
Solar power no longer registering on SOLAX App
Cover for inverter ripped off causing damage to render of house. No communication with company possible as no answer from phones.
Telephone response times appalling
Having been severely let down by this company, and appreciating we have met some amazing staff along the way. We found out just before Christmas that CES installed the installations with no agreement from Scottish Power and as such we have no authority to apply for energy efficient tarrifs for the heat system or solar panels, or reimbursement of what the solar panels are making. Scottish Power will not agree to us applying for anything and state this has to be CES. I lodged a complaint in September last year with MCS which generated a response, which is ongoing after an unsafe initial installation which could have put ourselves and home at risk, damage to property, significant delays, I initially had faith in the Aftercare team, but they do not respond to emails, neither does the Certificates team. I was on hold for over 7 hours yesterday, and imagine I got to number 1 in the queue because everyone else gave up. How does CES get the grant without the appropriate agreements? Instead of focusing on getting those clients who have outstanding issues content, the company seems interested in moving on to the next. CES with some shame in expressing this, you have put us into fuel poverty, I have tried to email and speak to people, I have asked to speak to someone senior in the organisation, all of which denied. How you came promote yourselves so positively and I wonder if the promotion face of CES really knows the service you offer? Now tell me how I get my number to move on from this wretched experience, the only reason people are eligible is on health grounds and you have made my health worse.
Poor communication between departments.
We had a grant for insulation and a heat source pump. We asked for the heat source pump to be a hybrid system where the oil boiler would heat the house and the heat source pump would then kick in to keep the heat going. We have used half a tank of oil so far this winter and the oil boiler has not heated the house, all it has done is heat the hot water immersion tank. When the radiators were put in, it took 5 phone calls and missed meetings where I have been taking time off work for them to tell me that the radiator pipes werent fitted correctly in the first place in one of the rooms and a newly decorated room will have to be taken apart to sort this out. We have had no heating from the air source pump as there is a leak and when they said they were coming, they didn't turn up. The communication within this company is dire. I have been on hold for over 6 hours this week and havent got past number 3 in the queue to speak to anyone.
The people who fitted the insulation and plastered were lovely and did a great job, but the heat source pump has been a nightmare since the word go. The electricity trips every time I use the vacuum cleaner which is brand new because our old one blew the same day as the heat source pump was wired in. We are still waiting for things to be finished in the house. I would never use this company again.
Appalling customer service
My 85yr old mother has had a problems with her boiler since November 2025. There has been 7 different engineers out trying to repair the problem. Last engineer called on Monday 5th January, today once again, no heating or hot water. She has been on the phone constantly since 9.30am until 5.30pm, no answer.

It's been over 3 months since installation and still waiting for insulation and radiator.
This project has given health issues and financial problems due to a cold house and expensive energy bills due to heat pump.
After numerous phone calls and emails I get no response or help.
Never came across such poor service as CES
Where have thy gone?
This company started our installation on 25th November 2025 and it is only part complete and they have left us with inefficient and unaffordable heating throughout Christmas and the new year. We cannot now get hold of them and have been on hold for hours, we don't know who else to contact.
